Went with a friend and had an enjoyable afternoon. Bartenders were friendly but busy. Food was decent. Was expecting Spanish fare (paella anyone?) based on the name, so was disappointed when it was just an American pub. The interior is stunning.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your detailed feedback! We're happy to hear you enjoyed our ambiance. We apologize for the confusion; we're a neighborhood gastropub taking pride in our whiskey selection and a great burger, among other things on our menu. Hope to have you back soon!

Twice now I’ve had the most FIRE lemonade while here on a night out. And trust me, I KNOW lemonade- like I don’t drink so this is my thing. I order lemonade. So I feel confident saying the consistency and deliciousness of the lemonade here warrants a review. Thank you Spaniard.

Response from the owner

Hi Rileigh, thank you so much for your glowing review! We're so glad you enjoyed the lemonade here. We take pride in our cocktail menu, but it makes us happy to know you could enjoy a N/A beverage so much. We look forward to having you back!

We popped in for brunch before going to the Greenwich Theatre. We picked it based on location. What an unexpected delight. The people were really nice, the food was terrific. We had the crunchy chicken salad and the mushroom scramble. Both were great. Thanks! More

Response from the owner

Larry, we very much appreciate your 5 star review! Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We're so glad to hear you had a good experience at The Spaniard, and we hope to have you back soon!

We came here for the IDEO partner meeting and the room was so charming and the service outstanding. Would definitely recommend this cute room for a private party.

Well if this isn't a perfect late night destination in NYC, I don't know what is! A last minute whim landed me in NYC on Holiday Eve 2024 and I needed a meal. Walking through the cold streets, I stumbled upon The Spaniard which has quickly become one of my favorite NY destinations!

We were there for a quick 30 hour trip to experience the "Holiday Magic". After a long day of travel, we just needed something good.

We arrived and they accommodated us in a back booth tucked behind the bar, perfect! Our waiter was a delight and very responsive. The martini was kick-ass and our waiter was kind enough to offer us many recommendations.

We landed on Charbroiled Oysters, Steak Tartare, and French Onion Dip. Someone slap me, I'm drooling while I write this review over a year later. Seriously, phenomenal. Every bite was amazing! We cleared the table and manged a few cocktails during our time with The Spaniard.

If you are ever in the West Village, stop by, you won't be sorry! Thanks me later, actually!

Response from the owner

Brandon -- thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and lovely 5 star review! We're thrilled you loved our menu items, and had such a positive experience at The Spaniard. We hope 2026 brings you back to NYC, and a visit back to The Spaniard! Happy New Year!

Gotta say- one of the best burgers and fries I've had in the city! Magnificent ambience, a little pricey, but worth it.
Note that you should get a reservation, but if not, you'll only have to wait a few minutes. Fancy place with a casual aura.

Response from the owner

Lily -- thank you so much for your kind words. We take pride in our delicious dishes, and your 5 stars and positive feedback is truly appreciated! We hope to see you again soon.

This was my second time going to a corporate event at The Spaniard:

Pros:
- The catered food was excellent — we ordered the grilled cheese bites, smash burgers, fries, bruschetta, corn fritters, and onion rings, and everything was a hit.
-Great location and atmosphere.
-Our server was fantastic — attentive, friendly, and very accommodating.
-The events team was quick and responsive over email, which made planning easy.

Cons:
The general manager came across as quite unfriendly and cold to me. It made parts of the event feel less enjoyable, which was disappointing given how great the rest of the staff and food were.

We had such a nice time at The Spaniard! We were treated to spectacular hospitality, meticulously crafted cocktails, lovely wine, and excellent fries. Sat outside for our afternoon snack and couldn’t have been happier with the staff, high quality fare, and ambience. Will definitely be back next time we’re in NYC!

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for your glowing review, MacKenzie! We're so delighted to hear you enjoyed your experience at The Spaniard. We can't wait to have you back soon, cheers!

Came for a client agency dinner and they reserved the back room which was actually pretty good and I enjoyed my meal even though the steak had too much fat on it. I will say the drinks are also delicious.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your review, Stephanie! We value all feedback as it helps us improve. We're glad to hear you enjoyed our drinks -- we hope to have you back soon!

We came here for a quick happy hour because it was on our way to a dinner with friends visiting from out of town. It was a great decision because the food we ordered and the service we experienced made us cancel our dinner and reserve a table here instead.

I dont want to over hype it but I really had a great time here and my friends were treated so well. For brunch, we had the oysters, artichoke dip, and calamari. All amazing. Drinks were really good too. But Phil was our server and his energy and the overall experience was the best part. I love when a server cares about the food their recommending.

When our friends came, we got our table and ordered some amazing entrees that were simple but really good. My only issue we saw was that the salad had tomatoes in it even though it wasn't listed in the ingredients on the menu. One of the members of our group has a bad allergy to tomatoes so that could have ended bad but we caught it early enough. Phil handled it and took care of us. Such an overall great experience. Can't wait to go back and have Phil be our server.

Response from the owner

Casey -- wow! Thank you so much for your glowing review. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your experience at The Spaniard, and with Phil. Our chef takes great pride in crafting delicious dishes, and your positive and detailed feedback is truly appreciated. We can't wait to welcome you back soon. Cheers!

Found this spot from a book called Drink Like a Local and glad I did. Walked in about 6 and the bar area was packed on a Wednesday. Found an open spot an ordered a Toasted Ham and Cheese and a Revolver. The food was good although I would have went with stone ground mustard instead of Dijon. The drink was burbon, coffee liqueur, and vanilla which came together very nicely. Would definitely go back.

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for you 5 star review, James! We can't wait to have you back again soon -- cheers!

Amazing smash burger. Insane quantity of fresh fries. I popped in here for a late lunch just wanting a refuge from a hot June day. The food was delicious. I sat in the front, but the back seemed to be a tad more intimate if that’s what you’re seeking. I asked the waitress for her advice as I tried to decide between the smash burger and the spicy chicken sandwich. Super happy I went with her suggestion. For a NYC spot, the layout is spacious, ready to accommodate a standing-only crowd drinking from the expansive menu. Good spot. Stop by

Response from the owner

If you're trying to decide between the smash burger and the patty melt, the burger is at least 100x better. The Brussels were good but they get soggy quick because they're sitting in sauce.

Overall the food here is okay for American fare.

Kinda fratty vibes in the bar, but if you're at a table it's a completely different atmosphere.

Response from the owner

YG, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We value all feedback as it helps us improve. We love our Smashburger! We hope you come back to give some of our other menu items a try, or come enjoy a weekend brunch with us. Cheers!

Definitely a great place to have brunch on a Sunday! Got there at 11 right at opening and it wasn’t busy. The crowd comes in around 1. The food was great but more on the pricier side. The service was nice and friendly! The vibe of the place is nice. Very close to the 1 train and the Blue line too. I highly recommend this place for sure

Response from the owner

Marion, thanks for your kind review! We're so glad you enjoyed brunch with us, and we hope to see you again soon. Cheers!
