We just grabbed the yukgaejang and samgyetang for lunch and enjoyed them both! The side dishes were good too.

The taste of the food was fine. It was overpriced for the BBQ set with the portions of the meat. The waitress was also impatient and was rushing for our order even though it wasn’t busy. You could get a better deal at other places in the area.

Well known kbbq spot near ktown offering pricey, but delicious marinated meats, casseroles and more. Started with half a dozen banchan, there is a variety of meat set options for the table to choose from or a la carte.

The items are cooked by staff so the usual designated kbbq chef can relax and eat😆. Seating is a bit cramped, and can be an issue for people with accessibility problems. Blue handball is used to hold the burner controls, very random.

Perfect place for lunch in Ktown, highly recommend the grilled salted mackerel, beef ribs soup and chicken stew. They also offer different banchan each time. The space has slightly dim lighting with a small bar area. The meat quality is good and portions are generous.

At Nubiani (half a block away) you eat better, for less money, and they even give you a free dessert.
The platter came without the usual Korean stew and egg, and on top of that they didn’t bring the rice, which was the only thing that was actually included in the platter besides the side dishes — we had to ask for it halfway through dinner.
Once you’re done eating, they completely forget about you — good luck trying to get the check.
To make matters worse, a 25% tip is automatically added and you’re not allowed to change it.
The meat itself is good, but I’d recommend going somewhere else where you get more (and better) food for the same price.

Some friends brought us to dinner here. It was an amazing experience. The food was incredible & the service was great also. We had pork dumplings & shrimp shumae for appetizers. For dinner we had the marinated chicken & the ribeye. Both meats were delicious. The chicken literally melted in your mouth.

If you’re craving Korean BBQ in the city, this spot is a must. The Prime Marinated Beef Platter was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly at the tabletop grill. We also loved the crispy kimchi pajeon, the kkaenip bulgogi, and the comforting kimchi jjigae. The house-infused lychee soju was a standout. They’re also running a promo free Korean stew with any beef platter which makes the experience even better.

Underwhelmed, I think the bar in K-town is very high for Korean food and while nothing particularly wrong with this restaurant, the food could have been better executed. Bottom line: there are many better options in the area.

Response from the owner

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with us did not fully meet your expectations, especially given the high standards in K-town. Nice place with good service & tasty food.

I visited here because If was a Micheline recommended place on the Micheline guide website. It definitely did not live up to those standards but who knows, maybe it was just a marketing thing.

I ordered the boneless sliced steak which came with a choice side of seafood soup, steamed rice, & small condiment sides such as kimchi & assorted others. The flavors were good but not great.
This was the lunch special $25.95
(June 2025 price)

Overall I would say the quality and flavors were good but not amazing.
I aim to return here to sample their green tea noodle dish.

Response from the owner

Your recognition truly lifts our team’s spirits.

At the same time, we sincerely apologize for not fully meeting your Michelin‑level expectations. We hold ourselves to exceptionally high standards, especially since we’ve been Michelin‑recommended, and falling short is something we take very seriously. To ensure it lives up to expectations, we’ve enhanced the green tea infusion and refined the chilled broth for a fresher, more umami‑rich taste—crafted especially to impress.

If anything falls short of exceptional on your return, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to me—Justin, Restaurant Manager (212-683-2200)—so I can personally ensure your next experience is outstanding. We went for lunch and it was delicious. The service was great ribeye and skirt steak on the barbecue was awesome. The waitress did all the cooking for us at the table. All the sides were delicious as well. It was well worth the price is there as this is more expensive than the other places to the West.

Response from the owner

Don’s Bogam is one of my favorite Korean BBQ spots in NYC’s K-Town. The quality of the meat is top-notch — especially the marinated galbi and pork belly, both juicy and flavorful. What makes this place stand out is the built-in charcoal grill, which adds a great smoky depth to the meats.

The staff is attentive and helps grill everything to perfection, which is a huge plus if you want a seamless experience. I also loved the variety of banchan (side dishes) that come with the meal — fresh, tasty, and replenished without asking.

The space feels a bit more upscale than your typical KBBQ joint, making it perfect for both casual nights out and special occasions. Their wine and soju selection is solid too.

If you’re looking for a Korean BBQ experience that balances quality, service, and atmosphere, Don’s Bogam is a must-visit in NYC.

absolutely and easily now my favorite spot for kbbq in ktown. the food here was amazing and the service was top notch. you must get their beef tartare as a starter. it def taste better than it looks. I also recommend getting their bulgogi. It comes with a bunch of veggies and a broth. super comforting for cold days. I can’t wait to come back!

Since amazing Korean food is what I grew up with, I'm VERY critical when it comes to Korean food joints.

I was pleasantly surprised by this spot. Yes it's a bit pricier than most Korean BBQ places in Ktown but the quality of the meat, their banchan (side dishes), the service, and ambiance were well worth the pricetag! Dinner for 5, 4 males/1 female, came out to closer to $350ish including tip, but that was all pretty much food lol (4 sodas and 1 beer).

The usual suspects of brisket, marinated short rib, pork belly were all prime cuts and super delicious but the stars of the night were their beef tongue bbq (ordered 2 orders of this) and their bulgogi grill pan!! Oh and their pepper & scallion pancake and their seafood pancake were perfectly crisp and delicious too plus I didn't come out of their smelling like Korean BBQ smoke so that's a BIG ++ in my book!

After walking around the city for hours, we were so happy to find a place that was open! The staff were absolutely lovely and extremely attentive. The kimchi pancake and japchae were definitely my favourites but they had a good variety of banchan. Would 100% recommend! I’ll have to come back for barbecue next time.

Situated in the middle of Korea town, surrounded by some very good Korean restaurants, Dons Bogam is definitely making a name for itself. Beyond the great ambience, not so great welcome service, friendly wait staff, what really makes this place special is the great quality of meats and food. It can be on the pricier side but the quality of the food and the ingredients make up for it. They also have a good selection of drinks and wines. The service however, felt a little rushed at times. Always have someone cook for you on table. The side dishes are always refilled and renewed. It can get really busy during dinner so reservations are always recommended.
