I did not expect the inside to be beautiful. Its huge, drinks were amazing, food was good. Pricing was a but steep. Kids are allowed which is a huge plus even late hours.

The service I had encountered today for Mother’s Day was very rushed. As a waitress you should show more hospitality make the customer feel your happy to be serving us. The food was graceful but very small proportion given the fact of the increase price. The interior was very modern & clean. Big restaurant very spacious stage.

I accidentally spilled my drink on the table, and although I apologized to the waitress three times, she did not respond at all. I understand it was inconvenient, but it was an honest mistake. She then took the glass with the remaining drink and placed the dirty tissue she used to clean the table on top of it, which was completely unnecessary, as I was planing on finishing it.

After that, she was extremely rude and ignored us. To make matters worse, we found a hair in our cocktail. We planned on staying longer, but after this experience, we will not be coming back. Customer service matters, and rude employees should not be working with customers.

Response from the owner

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience. This is not the level of service or hospitality we aim to provide to our guests.

We understand how uncomfortable that situation must have been, and we truly regret how it was handled. The food at this place is incredibly delicious!! Bravo to the chef!! The typical dishes we get from here are churrasco, the big seafood salad, and baby mofongo. My dad ordered Tilapia and he loved it! The waitresses are attentive, welcoming and work as a team.. we love it here. Totally worth the prices.

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for your amazing review!
We’re thrilled to hear you love the food—from the churrasco and seafood salad to the baby mofongo and tilapia.

Your kind words about our team truly mean a lot—we take pride in providing attentive and welcoming service.

We truly appreciate your support and are so happy you feel it’s worth it. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back again soon!

Reservation made 4 days in advance and it wasn’t even in their system when we arrived.

Service was unacceptable — staff pressured us to order drinks, yet it took over 45 minutes to get them (including water). They kept removing our drinks before we finished and rushed us through the meal. We asked for a dessert menu and they brought whatever they wanted instead.

Food was just as bad: the mofongo was rock hard, the chicharrón looked fried in old oil, and the fried calamari was terrible.

Overall, very disappointing experience. This place is now on our blacklist and we would not return.

Response from the owner

We sincerely apologize for your experience and the inconvenience with your reservation, service, and food quality. This is not the level of service or standards we strive to provide. We take your feedback very seriously

Cafe Rubio has been one of my go-to restaurants for a very long time. When I think of Cafe Rubio, I think of luxury, great food, and a beautiful ambiance. Unfortunately, my last few experiences—especially the most recent one—have changed that perception.

Over the last three visits during the winter, the restaurant has been uncomfortably cold inside. There’s really no excuse for customers to be freezing while dining. If the space can’t be properly heated, the restaurant should either find a solution or reconsider opening under those conditions.

Most recently, I celebrated my daughter’s 13th birthday at Cafe Rubio with a group of about 14 people. We were seated in a corner near the door, where it was especially cold. Several of us couldn’t even take our jackets off, and I was personally very uncomfortable the entire time. Sadly, what should have been a special memory now feels overshadowed by that experience.

The service that night was also disappointing. Given the size of our group, at least two servers should have been assigned to our table, but only one person was handling everything. I understand that Cafe Rubio is known for a slower, more relaxed dining pace, but this went far beyond that. Our drinks—simple sodas and one mixed drink—took close to 30 minutes to arrive, which is unacceptable.

To make matters worse, the food arrived cold. Considering the price point of the restaurant, customers should reasonably expect hot food and a comfortable dining environment. Between the cold temperature, delayed service, and cold food, the experience felt chaotic and poorly managed.

Communication with our server was also uncomfortable. Asking basic questions or raising concerns felt awkward, almost as if we were being a burden. At one point, a member of our party who doesn’t speak Spanish well was met with an unhelpful response, which felt out of place and unprofessional for a restaurant that presents itself as upscale.

Overall, this experience—combined with the previous visits—has left me deeply disappointed. Cafe Rubio was once a place I truly loved, but unless I hear that meaningful changes have been made, this will likely be my last visit. I genuinely hope the restaurant can address these issues and return to the level of quality and care it was once known for.

The place is very clean from the entrance and has a nice décor that gives a good first impression. The restrooms are well maintained, which is something I always appreciate in a restaurant.

The service was friendly, the music added to the atmosphere, and the cocktail I ordered was quite good. The food was well presented and tasted great. Overall, everything was pleasant, and it’s a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal or a drink.

We had the “fried calamari” 13 pieces total, had to count them after seeing how poorly cooked they were. Worst calamari I have ever seen in my life. We complaint about it and still got charged for them. The rest of the food was good.

Very nice restaurant with lively music, although they have a more quiet side for those wanting a calm dinner. The venezia is a good dish. Cordon blue was okay, but could use some more flavor. Dolce de leche was nice but could've been a bit bigger for the price. I'd go back but try something different.

Everything we ordered was delicious and fast, unfortunately the food was BARELY warm! The vibe was great and I look forward to go back.

Almost 5 stars, but the food (main courses) were barely warm, almost room temperature.

Came in for drinks with friends, the place looked good and clean.

Has a full bar with great drinks and friendly staff. It was the perfect spot to hang out. Music wasn’t too loud or too low, it was perfect.

Food was ok I guess tasted good, you just can’t see what are you eating since everything is covered with sauce and cheese. Also was a bit over priced, like if you was paying for fancy rice and beans.

Over all it’s a great chill spot. Try it.

I will have to say this place surprised me.
At first glance from outside you really don't expect much but hoping that the food is good, but once you enter you see that this place is really nice it actually also has an outside area in the back which i would love to see the set up in the summer to come.
Right from the entrance is a bar that looks like it can accommodate anybody's drinking desire which is most definitely good haha.
More inside it has alot more seats and tables with better lighting. Which looks looks like it can be a dance floor at night time.
So overall in the looks department i would say spot on. The staff was very friendly and did their job well
Now food wise it was a little on the high end in price but the most important thing is the food and it was really good and up to my expectations I would personally come back again to try more dishes from the Dominican Republic.
