Absolutely loved EVERYTHING we got, best Mac n cheese I have had so far and love love love that everything is vegan 🌱. I wish if we could dine there - we got there around 8:40pm and the dining area was already closed 😭. We just got lucky that we walked to Bryant park and had the dinner, AMAZING. Must try all

I really liked their mac and cheese with chicken. Flavorful vegan chicken and creamy pasta. I tried a couple of other items but they didn't sit well with my taste pellet.

Plan to pick up as they don't have proper sitting area and it closes an hour before their closing time. It you pick up with nowhere to go, then enjoy your food in teh Time Square area.

For more tips/plans on exploring places and plant-based/vegan food including in NYC, please follow or DM me on @to.live.soulfully on Instagram. Happy to help!

Love the quote they wrote on one of the walls 'Wings are for Flying, Not for Frying'. Will have the mac and cheese again for sure!!
Came from Billie Eilish list of places - the drumstick were one of the best things I’ve ever tried. Mac n cheese didn’t disappoint either. Highly recommended💕
I was excited to try Vegan on the Fly, but this was a major disappointment. I ordered the jerk chicken mac and cheese, and the food was honestly gross. The flavor, texture, and overall quality were not what I expected at all.
This was my first visit, and I went out of my way on my lunch break, walking a few blocks in the rain because I was eager to try it. Unfortunately, the food was not worth the trip, and the service was just as disappointing.
It is also not a great place to dine in since there is no public restroom available, which makes the experience even less convenient.
I would not order from here again.
Response from the owner
You came to the establishment and got mad simply because we let you know that we don’t have a bathroom. When we mentioned that you could kindly go to Starbucks, you became angry. We know the food was good, as our mac is a top seller. Entitled customers like you can go eat elsewhere. My staff works hard every day and should not be mistreated.
Really delicious vegan street food options! I brought three non vegans with me and they all enjoyed the food as well. We ordered the chopped cheese over fries, chicken sandwich, burger, and the gyro. The chopped cheese is definitely big enough to share. In the end I like the gyro best.
There is seating inside but it's very limited and not great for groups.
Taste was magnificent! Got the chicken chopped cheese mac bowl and it was so rich and heavy that I couldn’t finish half and it will now be two meals! Vegan for 9+ years and def exceeded my expectations.
Okay, I found this place after a quick search and decided to try it out! It's definitely a grab and go kind of place yet seating is available in the back past the counter where you order. I had the Chopped Cheese Mac and Cheese with the beef! It was hot, had depth, and was so, so delicious! I had to slow down because I was tearing it up! Lots of great options, the person who took my order gave great suggestions, and it was what I needed after a day of exploring. I could only eat half of the meal inside and I finished the rest later that night. Still hit like a ton of bricks! Very happy I took a chance on this place! I'd come back in a heartbeat!
I ordered food from here multiple times while visiting Manhattan recently. I tried the platter, the loaded fries, and the NcChicken. The loaded fries were my favorite. The seitan is amazing in both the platter and the loaded fries, I also especially liked the tzatziki/ranch sauce. Everything was so flavorful and the portion sizes on the platter and the fries are great. I wished for a little bit more with the NcChicken for the price (like a tomato slice, maybe)? But was still happy with it and would recommend this place to anyone. I'm sad I couldn't try more from the menu. They do have a small indoor seating area. Food was fresh every time, service was friendly. Great vegan spot for delivery or dine-in.
It was my first time ordering at this place and I’m so glad I did! The food is extremely delicious and very comforting on a cold NY day. I was staying at the hotel near by and ordered on the app and by the time I went downstairs and went 50 ft on the street my order was completed amd waiting for me. The service is really fast! Definitely go!
I got jerk chicken platter and loaded Mac and cheeze.
I returned to NYC and gave them another try. I ordered the Jerk Chicken Salad with extra garlic sauce, no tomatoes - $18.98. Got a side of harissa sauce and a Pineapple Ginger juice.

I loved the fact that their chicken is gf. It’s a simple salad with just the romaine lettuce, red onion, and sauce (comes with tomato too but I omitted them), but it’s a hearty portion and I figured the grape leaves (which are supposed to come with it) would make it worth the near $20 price point.

Well, they didn’t give me any dolmas at all, and I totally forgot about them until later. I checked before writing this and their online menu definitely still says the salad comes with grape leaves, so they can’t (shouldn’t) say that it has changed. I LOVE dolmas, so their omission has left me a tad vexed.

Aside from grape-gate, the salad itself was tasty. The jerk chicken didn’t taste like real island jerk, but it had some spice and it was very good. I did feel that the salad was missing something. I went back and asked if I could buy some avocado, but they didn’t have any. I guess it just needed those M.I.A. dolmas. 6/10

That Pineapple Ginger juice was the truth!! I wish I’d bought a dozen to bring on the plane. It tasted freshly made and the ingredients also tasted fresh. No canned or packaged pineapple or ginger, judging by the taste. 10/10

My habibi ordered the Impossible Chopped Cheese. He is FAR from vegan, but he’s a good sport when it comes to trying it out, and he keeps it 100 all the time. That being said, he said that he really liked his sandwich. He was impressed!

Sadly, I didn’t get a shake this time (as much as I wanted to - I have instant regret), but I did notice that they’re now using the big boba straws - perfect for their delicious thick shakes!! Big UPS to them for listening to their customers! (In my previous review, I expressed the inadequacy of the eco-friendly paper straws.)

FYI - no bathrooms, even for their customers. That sucks.

I’ll be back again for another meal. Striving for that top notch experience, which I believe they can and will deliver. Third time’s the charm, right?
We picked this place while visiting NYC for the holidays. I had the NYC Chopped Cheese and the counter person suggested I get it with Beyond Beef. My wife got the Nashville Hot Chicken. This must be a best seller because there were other sitting near us and everyone was eating the Nashville chicken sandwich. Mine was great. Cheesey, delicious and comforting. Everything you want from a chopped cheese. Jer Nashville chicken was really good. Spicy and thick slices of pickles. It was counter service and bar top seating. Very scant. There was no shortage of customers and most picked up and left. A lot of this is hand held food. Super good though and we will head back next time we're in NYC.
If you’re looking for vegan comfort food, this is the spot! I had the barbecue chicken Mac & cheese bowl and my husband had the jerk chicken Mac & cheese bowl. Both were delicious and hit the spot! We also shared a Reese’s PB Shake, which was amazing!

Like most small restaurants in NYC, there wasn’t a lot of seating. This place is mostly for takeout/delivery, but we managed to grab some seats upstairs.
I’m so disappointed!!! Like I really wanted to love my experience at VOTF’s brick and mortar location especially since I tried the food at Vegandale (food truck) and it was absolutely amazing. But alas, it appears things have changed….the person at the register seemed to be over it which I get being right in midtown but she would barely even describe the options when I asked and seemed annoyed that I was asking. Well, we order a 7 piece drumsticks for $19.99 which turned out to be 7 tiny wings/drummettes NOT drumsticks and look nothing as pictured. The portion was so tiny. It really made me upset. I mean if the cashier would have mentioned that my partner and I would have probably ordered more being that we were splitting the food. I feel like the false advertisement was very real on this one. Then the “seitan” is nothing but Tofurky ripped up on top of the rice. I was expecting something more authentic like what I had at vegan sale that really felt worth it. I am not a tourist but I feel like I got played like a tourist eating at that expensive restaurant for tiny portions and bland food. I’m so sad because I wanted it to be my new spot and I guarantee you - I would have been there every week. Ugh. Sad way to end date night.
I recently visited Vegan on the Fly and my experience was underwhelming from start to finish. When I first walked in, there was no one at the front to greet me. Instead, there were two self-order kiosks, which felt very impersonal. I walked back toward the register area and stood there for about four minutes without seeing anyone. There were no workers and no food being prepared. Eventually, I noticed someone tucked away and asked if they were open. He said yes, and then a kind woman came out to take my order. Speaking to her face to face felt much better.

I decided to try the jerk vegan chicken loaded fries, which I had never heard of before and was excited to taste. The dish was twenty dollars, and I thought it might be worth the price. Unfortunately, it was just okay. The flavor was average, nothing memorable or exciting.

I ate in the back area, and while I was finishing up, workers came to take out trash bins, which I did not mind. What made me uncomfortable was when they began removing and stacking the stools around me while I was still seated. It felt unwelcoming, almost as if I was being pushed to leave.

Overall, I do not see myself returning. The food and service did not live up to the price or the atmosphere I was hoping for.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re very sorry to hear that your visit didn’t meet expectations. We aim to provide both welcoming service and memorable food, and it’s clear we fell short for you. Your feedback about the greeting, timing, and atmosphere is extremely helpful and will be reviewed with our team so we can improve. We also appreciate your honesty regarding the jerk loaded fries — we’ll continue working on making every dish live up to its value. We truly regret that you left feeling unwelcome and hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future.
If you're vegan and miss chicken over rice then Vegan on the Fly is the place to be! The rice was seasoned perfectly and the seitan was a great filling vegan protein for the meal. Of course the vegan white sauce is something you can't find at any other halal places. The mac and cheese was creamy and gooey as mac and cheese should be. 10/10 going back next time I have the chance.
