Absolute magic. I have never eaten a meal where individual vegetables are the hero. The mushroom course was a spiritual experience for my husband and I. The flavors are unlike anything I’ve had before. Clinton was the absolute best.

The manager and our server were very attentive and most gracious when one of us diners wasn’t able to enjoy the unique dishes due to being sick on the day of our reservation. The kitchen even prepared an extra dish to not let the diner go hungry from not completely finishing the previous courses of the winter menu. This kind of genuine care and service is very rare, and makes the diners feel extremely welcome and want to come back again!
Amazing experience and one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The wait staff is very attentive and take good care of you. Shout out to our server Oscar and everyone else who made our birthday celebration extra special!
This is such a unique dining experience. Their all vegetarian menu is excellent. The menu can vary, so I can only comment on what we were served. While I liked the entire menu, here are some highlights.

We had Brussel sprouts roasted on the stock. This was covered with a slightly spicy sauce. One picked it up with the one’s fingers to eat each sprout. After finishing the sprouts, the stalk was turned over and the soft core was scooped out with a marrow spoon I did not know the core was edible!

Root vegetable chips with sauce and a type of coleslaw were delicious.

The dessert course featured a spice cake, sorbet and a coconut pudding. This was excellent!

The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful in explaining the menu.

I will not soon forget our visit and can’t wait to return.
Wonderful dining experience here! The staff was great, the food was excellent. I wasn’t particularly impressed with either one of the soupy dishes; but everything else was unreal. The off-the-menu chips course was sooo addictive. Loved that the tip was already included. Tipping has gotten out of control. We’ll be back!
Overall excellent experience. First night of new winter menu and all dishes as always were exceptional- the dessert is mind bending, extra kudos to the pastry team on this one. Service is top notch and as flawless as the food. I am a plant based eater but my guest who is not was blown away. Already looking forward to my next visit.
I first visited about 10 years ago and had an absolutely amazing experience. It is wonderful to see they are still living up to my expectations in 2025. The food is fantastic bringing so many flavors across the menu and presentation is beautiful. We tried the non-alcoholic wine pairing and I was blown away. I never knew 'not wine' could be so delicious. Kudos to the Sommelier! Staff were kind and engaging and I appreciated the acknowledgement of a living wage.
Okay I just literally finished eating here and I couldnt move before I said how ridiculously amazing the food, the service and the experience was eating here. I was not expecting much as I thought all vegetarian restaurants were somewhat equal. Let me be the first to say, there are levels to this! Dirt Candy is above all the rest! As I am writing this I'm trying not to overhype, but I have to be very truthful. This was the best I have had in my life!! Chef Amanda is the most culinary life changing chef I have had the pleasure of meeting and dining with. Compliments to her and her staff! Simply can't be beet! (See what I did there) 😉
As a vegetarian, my wife has wanted to try Dirt Candy for years. We finally got a reservation to celebrate her birthday last week and the team did not disappoint. Juliet & Jackie took great care of us, and we both thoroughly enjoyed every course & wine pairing on offer. My wife doesn’t even usually like mushrooms, and the mushroom hot dog was arguably her favorite dish of the night. We’re already talking about going back next season to try the new seasonal menu.

Thank you Dirt Candy! The meal stands out as one of our favorites after half a decade of living in the city together.
I’m giving Dirt Candy in New York a full five stars, and honestly, it deserves every bit of that rating. The food here is exceptional — creative, flavorful, and executed with real precision. Every dish feels unique, thoughtful, and beautifully balanced. The atmosphere is relaxed but polished, making it an easy place to enjoy a long, satisfying meal without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

One thing I strongly recommend is choosing the wine pairing. Each course comes with a different wine selected specifically to match the flavors of the dish, and they absolutely nail it. The pairings elevate the food instead of overpowering it. You can tell the team put real effort into curating drinks that enhance the entire dining experience. If you’re coming here, don’t skip that option — it’s worth it.

The service was outstanding. The staff were attentive, warm, and genuinely enthusiastic about what they were serving. Dirt Candy is a no-tip restaurant, which I respect, but my server took such good care of me that I felt compelled to insist on giving her something extra. It took a bit of convincing, but she eventually accepted it with a big smile, and I could tell it truly made her day. That level of kindness and professionalism deserves recognition.

Dirt Candy isn’t just a place to eat — it’s a place to appreciate food. If you’re looking for an excellent dining experience in New York, this spot should be at the top of your list.
I’ve been here three times (Winter and Summer previously), and this season’s Fall tasting menu is the best yet. Truly phenomenal, abounding with creative flavor combinations and textures, and genuinely elevating the vegetables that serve as the base. The cauliflower dessert is one of the best desserts I’ve ever had, and the candied beets and curry, the onion tart, and mushroom dish were standout as well. The kitchen always does an amazing job with the surprise dishes too, from radish carpaccio to sesame dumplings. Highly recommend the desert sunrise as an NA cocktail, and try to get a seat at the chef’s counter. Also love a restaurant that pays its workers a living wage and includes gratuity. Please go!
A MUST VISIT IN NYC.

If you are serious about great food, this place MUST be on your list. The team have put together an amazing seasonal menu, that is pleasing to the eye, and even more the palate. Vegetarian or Vegan, you can decide. A very comprehensive wine list, beers, cocktails, cocktails and sodas.
You will leave wanting for nothing. The staff are exemplary. An absolute pleasure.
Treat yourself.
Amazing food all around, would 10/10 recommend going for a milestone celebration like anniversary or a birthday dinner. Definitely opt in for their wine pairing option, you won’t regret it. They not only handpick their wines but also pair those superbly with their food. My favorites dishes were hands down their dessert - which was an avocado dallop of ice cream with an egg cream and tortilla chips followed by their thai lasagna and then their onion tart, in that order. I’m so glad I chose this place for my first Michelin Star restaurant experience!
Was treated here by my partner for my birthday. He had managed to squeeze in a reservation at 9:30 PM, and the restaurant was still very lively when we arrived. We never felt rushed. We sat on bar-style seating, which I ended up loving because we got a better view of the food being prepared.

The atmosphere was very comforting -- warm lighting, not too noisy. The staff were so lovely and brought a playful energy. And of course, the food was awesome. It is truly a vegetable restaurant, with each course spotlighting a different kind. I loved that the flavors and textures were being explored so deeply through this approach, and it made me rethink the "mold" that each vegetable fits into in terms of how it's prepared, what it's paired with, etc. We are looking forward to coming back and trying new seasonal and off-menu dishes!
Upon entering Jackie the Hostess was a vibe with her popped collar and authentic self (loved)! Clinton was our kind and enthusiastic/generous server, could not rant and rave enough about that baddie, thank you Clinton for giving us your upmost uplifting energy and great customer service!!! The food was definitely like the weeds that grow all around the mountains in this area, which I’m guessing that’s where the name Dirt Candy comes from. It was a wonderful experience to see how these ingredients could create 5 star dishes! Very creative combinations! My favorite was the smoked Twinkie with the tomatoes, & the slushy ice cream dessert at the end of our meal. The polyester napkins were personally not the best idea, I think with the money spent at the establishment maybe a cotton fabric could be a nice idea. I asked for paper napkins and that seemed to be a whole thing which was funny to me.
