This big girl who was working today I understand she seemed to be on her break she was hoarding a whole table she saw i was trying to eat but she was on her phone not leaving me even tiny spice for me to eat. I dropped sauce on my white top which is expensive too. I always come here on my lunch break but never gonna come here anymore. A little courtesy goes a long way not in this location. I love the chefs but the woman really needs to consider customers

Response from the owner

Thank you for reaching out, Rose. We're sorry to hear that your lunch break turned out to be stressful!
Our shop is tiny (as you know!) and there is no backroom or employee space so our crew uses the front dining area during their breaks too. As such, we expect both our crew and our guests to be respectful and mindful of sharing the limited space when things get tight. We are looking into your experience in more detail in order to learn from it and make the necessary changes. Thank you for your feedback, and we truly hope you'll reconsider and keep coming by for your lunch breaks!

I used to love grabbing a $4 egg roll and $5 paneer, $5 chicken masala roll - flavorful and filled with goodness (roti or paratha, your choice) for dinner before class down the way. Still up the stairs again like others on the street (so no way to make it accessible to those who can't take stairs) and small benches with tables for you to sit at.

Came back here recently to try it again - the paneer and egg was excellent, and the spiciness was just the right level of mix of flavors without being spicy. And prices, while up, were still under $10 a roll (some at $8-9) and thus less expensive than some other places.

The paneer was big pieces and very tasty, just the right level of heat and spice in a buttery paratha.

Response from the owner

Welcome back to the neighborhood, Hank! It puts the biggest smiles on our faces knowing we were your trusty pre-class dinner spot back in the day! We're so happy to hear that our paneer and egg rolls still deliver that same perfect, flavorful kick you remember (without breaking the bank!). We also really appreciate you mentioning the stairs. Navigating a classic NYC walk-up definitely presents some tough structural limits, but ensuring everyone can get their hands on our food is incredibly important to us. If you or anyone you know has any mobility concerns, kindly take a peek at the Accessibility section on our website. Our team is always happy to adapt; we're more than glad to run downstairs for a curbside hand-off or take an order directly over the phone so it's ready the second you arrive! Thank you for the wonderful blast from the past and we're already looking forward to your next paratha craving!

Got the Unda Shami roll. Minced lamb. Recommended to me by a regular. It was delicious. Incredible spices give tons of flavor. I thought it would come with sauce. It didn’t. But it should because I think I really would’ve helped. Order sauce!

Response from the owner

Big shout-out to that regular for steering you in the right direction, Nathan! We are so stoked the minced lamb and those punchy spices did their thing! You actually hit the nail on the head with the sauce tip; our rolls love a good sidekick. Next time you're in, let's play matchmaker and find the perfect sauce to take that flavor party to the next level. We totally agree: more sauce = more win! We’ve already got the spice rack (and the sauce bottles!) waiting for you. We hope to see you back for round two!

If you’re looking for a "deconstructed" meal, this might be for you—my Aloo Paratha arrived with the potato and bread leading completely separate lives. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal followed suit. The chicken portion was minimal and lacked character, the chips were over-fried and greasy, and the salad was sadly past its prime. For a New York staple, I expected much better craftsmanship.

Response from the owner

We're sorry to hear that your meal fell so short of the high standards we’re known for, Sreejith. That deconstructed experience is definitely not the quality we aim to serve; it’s also disappointing to know the chicken and chips didn't hit the mark either. We would very much like to look into this for you. One detail that caught our eye was the mention of a salad; since our MacDougal Street location doesn’t actually carry salads on the menu, we want to make sure we’re investigating the correct order and location to get to the bottom of this. Could you please click the link below to share a few more details with us at https://go.momos.com/vCZLL. We’d appreciate the chance to look into this and make things right. Thank you for your honesty. We value your feedback and hope for the opportunity to provide the true NYC staple experience you expected.
Baba and Salim were so nice to us! Also the Paneer roll was so goooodddd! My friends also loved the food, and having paneer in their mouths!! Big 5 all the way!

Response from the owner

This review is absolute gold. You and your crew just made our entire day, Rishit! Papa and Salim are basically doing a victory dance over here! They loved having you all in! Can we talk about that Paneer roll love? There really is nothing quite like that first bite magic, and we’re so stoked it hit the spot for everyone. Thanks a million for the Big 5 energy and for sharing the love! We honestly can't wait to see you and the gang back at the shop soon!

I was in the neighborhood, hungry. Found it by chance, so happy did! I had no idea what a Kati roll was but some customers coming out told me all about it. I tried it and I loved it. I had the vegetarian roll, perfectly spicy and delicious. Can’t wait to go back to try them all (I am not a vegetarian).

Response from the owner

This is such a meant to be food story! We are officially obsessed with this, Marie. There is honestly nothing better than a happy accident leading you straight to your new favorite snack. Huge shout-out to those fellow customers for being the ultimate Kati roll ambassadors; they clearly know where the good stuff is! We’re so stoked that our Vegetarian Roll won you over with that perfect spicy kick, especially since you’re usually a meat eater. That is basically the highest compliment our kitchen could ever get! Thank you so much for wandering in and sharing the love. We’re already getting the rest of the menu ready for your next "accidental" visit!

Was certainly in the mood for something different and this spot did the trick. Located in the Greenwich Village area among other student friendly shops, this The Kati Roll Company location is a bit small with few seating options so more a takeout spot especially if you are coming with a big party. That said, the vibe of this spot was nice and maned by two guys who were kind, took my order, and service was relatively quick.

I decided to try out their Chana Masala Roll ($6.95) and Aloo Masala Roll ($5.95) with the Junglee Lemon Ginger Smash drink ($3.75). In the main picture below of the meal, the Chana is on the right and the Aloo on the left. I dug into the Chana first, and boy did those blackening spices come at me from the jump! This was a nice introduction to the spot as the roll was nicely done to hold things together and the chickpeas and the spices worked hand in hand to have satisfying bites. The heat wasn't overpowering but I did feel it in every bite though the tomatoes I didn't feel much at all. Finishing that and going to the Aloo with the mashed potato patty with tomatoes did bring the temperature down and was a more cooler experience that was a nice way to end the meal on. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably do the Aloo first to ease in and then the Chana but both were very good. The drink was fine but a little small.

In the end, this is a good spot for a quick grab and go meal that is a bit deceptive in how filling it can be. A couple of rolls will do the job and I'm interested in coming back and trying out some of the Unda rolls. While I wish the spot was a bit bigger and not at the top of some steps as it can be easy to miss, the staff were nice and for the area provides a different flavor that you should check out.

Response from the owner

Oh, we are absolutely obsessed with this breakdown, Orionis! It sounds like you navigated our menu like a total pro, and honestly, your tip about starting with the Aloo Masala to prep the palate for those Chana spices is actually genius. We might have to start whispering that to other first-timers!
We’re so glad our Greenwich Village crew took such good care of you! It’s definitely a cozy spot (New York real estate, right?), but we’re stoked the vibes and the flavors made the climb up those steps worth it. We can’t wait to have you back to tackle the Unda rolls; they’re a total staff favorite! We'll have the grills humming and the parathas toasty for whenever you need that next something different.

We tried the fried momos and they were crispy and delicious — the chutney was especially really good and added great flavor. The paneer Kathi roll was tasty and satisfying, definitely value for money.
The space is very small with just about 4 tables, so it’s better suited for takeout than dining in. Overall, a good spot for a quick and affordable bite if you are around Washington square park !!

Response from the owner

You’ve officially cracked the Washington Square Park survival code, Pratik! There's nothing better than a crispy Momo and a Paneer Roll to fuel a park adventure! We're so stoked that our chutney gave your taste buds that extra oomph they were looking for. You’re totally right, our shop is definitely on the cozy side so we’re basically the ultimate grab-and-go champions. Thank you for the sweet shout-out and for being such a legendary flavor-seeker!

Mediocre Indian street food for cheap. Don't judge all Kathi Rolls by this. The food here is undercooked and soggy. If they can properly cook their rolls, then it was potential because the flavors are actually pretty good

Response from the owner

We're glad you're to be so honest with us, Vastal. While we're glad to hear you felt the flavors had potential, it's genuinely disappointing to know that the texture of your rolls missed the mark. Undercooked or soggy food is definitely not the standard we strive for and we’re very sorry we let you down. Food quality is everything to us and we are investigating what went wrong with our kitchen team immediately to make sure our parathas are consistently flaky and perfectly cooked. We'd truly love the chance to turn this around and show you the benchmark experience our fans usually rave about. Could you please reach out to us at https://go.momos.com/WpvE8. We would love to make this up to you and ensure your next meal is exactly how it should be; crispy, hot, and delicious.

Chana masala rolls (around $7 each), very delicious and affordable! The service was quick. Highly recommended!

Response from the owner

We're genuinely overjoyed that you loved the Chana Masala rolls and that we nailed the combo of delicious, affordable, and quick service for you, Li. Thanks a million for the high recommendation!

Nice little (and I mean that literally) spot nestled on MacDougal Street that I found in a book called One Food Wonders. Worth the trip. I went with the Unda steak roll and Kingfisher beer which paired well together. The wrap is hard to keep together so make sure you grab a plastic fork before you sit down, if you are able to get one of the few spots in there. The menu is limited which is why it is in the book, but if you like that kind of food definitely worth a try.

Response from the owner

What a great story, James! We absolutely loved hearing that you stumbled upon our small, cute spot on MacDougal through the One Food Wonders book; that's seriously the best compliment! We're thrilled that the Unda Steak Roll and Kingfisher beer paired so well for you and that the meal was worth the trip! We definitely hear you about the wrap being difficult to manage and the need for a fork ( We'll speak to our team about this as the Roll should be easy to eat). Thanks for noticing our commitment to a limited, high-quality menu. We can't wait to welcome you back again soon!

A good place for a quick bite. It has the flavors , taste and touch of India. Small place with couple of seating option. Take away is viable option for large group. Street parking and don’t expect to get slots . Prices are normal and staffs are friendly. Good Kati roll to try when you are in the area

This was pretty tasty! I tried three different rolls:

First was the Chicken Tikka Roll. It was fine, to be honest I didn’t really get any of the traditional tikka spice flavors… It just tasted like a grilled chicken wrap. Very good grilled chicken and a bit charred which I love, but I expected more here.

Second was the Unda Paneer Roll. I really enjoyed this one. The paratha was layered with egg and the paneer was super soft and creamy, and had great spices!

Third was the Aloo Masala Roll. This one was excellent, probably my favorite of the three! The potatoes were so smooth, had excellent flavor, and I loved every bite of it. I will say I opted for extra spice on this one and it really was not spicy so I wish that came through more.

Overall, this is a great spot for a quick bite!

Response from the owner

Hello Patrick! Thank you so much for such an amazing review of our Rolls! We're sorry to hear that our Chicken didn't taste authentic; We'll speak to our team to make sure something like this doesn't happen again. However, We're so happy to hear that our Aloo Masala was your favorite and that our Paneer was super soft, creamy and most importantly, Well spiced! We hope to see you visit us again soon!

This was my first time visiting any 'The Kati Roll Company' location. I saw Google Maps flooded with all the positive reviews so I decided to drop by as I was in the area. They're heavily inspired from classic Indian movies as evident from the wall decor, which makes the ambience more unique than other restaurants nearby.

My server was really kind and patient as I was going through the menu deciding what to order. I then ordered the Unda Chicken Roll ($8.95), Potato Chips ($2.75) and the Indian Carrot Cake Bite ($3.00). The Unda Chicken Roll is basically a Paratha (South Asian flatbread fried in oil) with chicken, fried egg, onions and chutney (Indian sauce) filling. As you can see in the picture, it's an Indian version of American wraps and is very tasty. At first it seems as if the portion is small, however, once you finish the meal, it's actually very fulfilling.

I also loved the Potato Chips! The packet had more but by the time I took the picture, most of the chips were already in my stomach!

In terms of the Carrot Cake Bite, I think the price is a little high for the portion, and the taste seemed average to me.

Overall, I'd recommend this location if you're in the area and are looking forward to a super quick service. Please also be mindful that this location has limited seating space.

Response from the owner

Thank you for giving us a try and sharing your detailed feedback, Sadia! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the ambiance and that our Unda Chicken Roll and Potato Chips left a positive impression on you. We appreciate your honest thoughts on the Indian Carrot Cake Bite and will take your feedback into consideration. We're glad you had a pleasant experience with our kind server and quick service. We hope to see you again soon! Sincerely, The Kati Roll Team
