I went there for breakfast on a Thursday morning. The croque madame was perfection! Great service, good vibe. Be aware that you have to pay for each cup of coffee (vs. getting free refills, which is typical for breakfast service at most restaurants). The upside is the coffee is fantastic and relatively inexpensive for NYC.

Response from the owner

Hi Kathy,
Thank you for your kind words! We're so glad the croque madame hit the spot and that you enjoyed the vibe. Noted on the coffee policy — great quality at a fair price is always worth it! Hope to see you again soon.

The Tartinery Team

Awesome service despite a bustling crowd here at Grand Central Terminal. Special shoutout to Frank for making us at ease! I also recommend their ricotta and prosciutto

Frank made us the best spritzes we’ve ever had! It was the seasonal, but I’m sure any of their drinks (at least made by Frank) are phenomenal. Definitely worth a stop on your way through grand central!

Response from the owner

Hi Linzy,

Thank you for sharing this wonderful feedback! We are so glad Frank made your visit truly special with that seasonal spritz. Your kind words mean the world to us. We hope to welcome you back soon!

The Tartinery Team

Great place for a quick meal without losing quality or service. They had an abundance of vegetarian/vegan options and I loved that all 3 soups were also vegetarian (when so many places struggle to offer just one). I got a cold brew and the lunch combo that included your choice of soup and small open face sandwich.

Response from the owner

Hi Jen,

Thank you so much for visiting us and for sharing such thoughtful feedback! We are really glad our vegetarian and vegan offerings, the cold brew, and the lunch combo hit the spot. Hope to see you again soon!

The Tartinery Team

I got myself the iced matcha latte, and for seven dollars, it was quite disappointing. I get it, it’s a latte, but the whole thing just tasted like milk. In a good matcha latte, you should be able to taste the matcha itself first and foremost, then the milk, then the honey (or sweetener but I don’t think those are necessary). The cup was also quite sticky for some reason. I enjoyed getting to kinda hang out in grand central as it is a very pretty place but for the price of the drink, I wouldn’t recommend it. Also, I realized after ordering that their matcha powder is stored in a clear container, and prolonged light exposure is not good for the flavor of the powder. Service was kind though!!

Response from the owner

Hi Gavin
Thank you for your thoughtful review and for including a photo — that was especially helpful.
You’re absolutely right: the color of the matcha in the image is much lighter than it should be. A well-balanced iced matcha latte should have a vibrant green hue, reflecting a proper matcha-to-milk ratio. In this case, it does appear the drink was too milk-forward, and we understand how that would make the flavor fall flat.
We also appreciate you pointing out the sticky cup and your concern about storing the powder in a clear container. Both presentation and proper storage are important for quality and flavor, and your feedback is valuable in helping us improve.
Thank you again for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’ll be addressing this with our team, and we hope to have the chance to serve you a matcha that better reflects the quality and balance you were expecting.
Yuli Y - Operations Manager

Jean Carlos was my server and he made the excellent recommendation for the chicken salad. I had their butternut squash soup and the two were wonderful. Ingredients were fresh and flavorful.

• Went here early and it was already busy—the line grew quickly, but the staff picked up the pace and service was fast.
• Drip coffee was good and perfect for the chilly weather.
• Yummy pastries; the cookie was best warmed up. Sandwiches were made fresh.
• A great option for a quick breakfast while traveling through Grand Central Terminal.

Stopped in to get coffee and breakfast between appointments. I live in the city but had never eaten in grand central and this spot was great. Located in the dining course near the main stairs, it’s great for people watching, and the noise level is surprisingly not too bad. The food was presentable and delicious, and my dirty chai was perfectly sweetened. I chose to sit and take in the environment a bit, and my server, Lin, was attentive and kind.

Fresh! Tasteful! Creative! Express take out service OR sit down server attention. The Grand Central Station hustle provides an iconic backdrop atmosphere; we came for the food at Tartinery and left with the good vibes of a fun night out. Highly recommend sitting at the bar to enjoy seeing dishes plated plus having elevated seats for viewing the lower concourse bustle. Highly recommend NOT sharing dessert as it will require a test of character to offer that last sweet bite to the other person. ;-)
**Thank you to our server Chris at the bar for the kind and pleasant service!**

Grand Central Station! The atmosphere rocks! It is a very open cafe in the center of the food court area. We didn't have a reservation for our 10:00 a.m. brunch, but were seated right away. We had a couple of drip coffees, Creamy Burrata Tartine, and Egg and Smoked Salmon on Toast. It arrived quickly and was delicious. Our server was also quick with coffee refills.

It was great having a delicious brunch and watching the world go by in Grand Central Station. Seated around us were customers speaking many languages and having a good time. The experience made our day!

The food was great, the only problem was the staff. I ordered a meal and for some reason the cashier told me it would be put in a takeout box and that I “could” sit down. I was dressed in comfort clothes unlike the other patrons so I’m assuming that may have played into this. The reason for this reasoning is due to two other staff members asking me what I was doing there one while I was seated and vetted at the entry. Great food, staff needs to know how to treat a paying customer. I would have paid $20 just for the seat…

Response from the owner

Hi Anthony !
Thank you for sharing your feedback and photo with us ! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed our delicious Egg and Smoked Salmon Toast, and are saddened to hear about the confusion created by our team. We do have designated seating for take out and dine-in guests, and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused, we will speak to our team to ensure they are being clearer regarding this matter to avoid confusion in the future ! You are more than welcome to walk in and dine in with full service - but we also have a Grab and Go option available for our guests who may be in a rush. We hope this makes it clearer, and again apologize for any inconvenience this must've caused !
We hope to see you again in the future !
Yuli Y - General Manager
Tartinery Cafe - Bar | Grand Central
