Well, NYC from above never disappoints though I must say that this was not exactly breathtaking, the whole experience felt more like eating at a fast food chain rather than that thrilling moment you're looking for

I visited One Vanderbilt at night, and the view was absolutely stunning. Seeing New York City illuminated from above was an incredible experience and definitely worth the visit. The observation deck is modern, well-designed, and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline. My only regret is that I didn't visit earlier in the day or around sunset, as it would have been amazing to see the city transition from daylight to nighttime. Even so, it was a memorable experience and one of the highlights of my trip to New York.
The One Vanderbilt is an astounding supertall skyscraper and one of New York City’s tallest buildings.
Located on Vanderbilt Ave in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City, the building features 62 floors, its roof is 1301 feet high and its antenna spire is 1401 feet above ground. The building’s facade is mostly made of glass panels and its structure is made of steel and concrete.
The skyscraper’s name pays tribute to Cornelius Vanderbilt, a highly successful industrialist who played a pivotal role in the creation of New York’s transportation system, notably the establishment of Grand Central Terminal, which is adjacent to the building.
Opened to the public in the fall of 2020, the One Vanderbilt was designed by James von Klemperer of the architectural firm, Kohn Penderson Fox. The building’s developer and owner is SL Green Realty Corp, a prominent real estate investment trust, often referred to as “New York City’s largest office landlord.
Notable tenants of the One Vanderbilt include the Carlyle Group, KPS Capital Partners, Uipath & Fidelity National Information Services.
The major centerpiece attraction of the building is the Summit One Vanderbilt. The Summit One Vanderbilt is a world-famous immersive observation deck located on the 91st, 92nd and 93 floor of the One Vanderbilt.
In August of 2025, I had the pleasure of treating my wife and myself for a visit of the Summit One Vanderbilt by taking part in the “Summit Premium Experience.” We both very much enjoyed our experience, and highly recommend for everyone to book the Summit Premium when visiting the One Vanderbilt.
By taking part in the “Summit Premium Experience” my wife and I had “skip the line” access and received a complementary digital photo package. We also enjoyed a 90 minute guided tour of the observation deck. Our tour guide Shawn was the consummate professional. He was very courteous, welcoming, and always made sure that we were having a great time on our tour. He provided a brief and concise overview of the “Summit One Vanderbilt” by detailing its development and history and showcasing its awesome and distinct features, such as it’s spectacular mirrored rooms, visually stunning glass enclosed ledges, and gorgeous outdoor terrace.
We also enjoyed breathtaking views of New York City’s skyline and its prominent locations ranging from Central Park, the Chrysler Building, Grand Central, the Empire State Building, the One World Trade Center, Times Square and many other points of interest. Shawn was very patient and gave us ample time to view these wonderful attractions. He also took great pictures of us alongside these destinations. We thank Shawn for his great hospitality and exceptional service.
When traveling to New York, both my wife I highly recommend that you visit the One Vanderbilt and take part in the “Summit Premium Experience.” You are guaranteed to have a wonderful time when visiting this outstanding destination!!!
It’s an amazing place if you are in New York make a point to visit it. We had a fabulous time , you can see the whole of New York.
If you’re visiting New York, #OneVanderbilt is an absolute must but the real secret is when you go: dawn.

Arriving just as the city begins to wake up completely transforms the experience. Instead of crowds and noise, you get a calm, almost surreal atmosphere where Manhattan slowly reveals itself in soft golden light. Watching the sunrise from above the skyline is nothing short of breathtaking the reflections, the colors, the quiet… it feels like you have the entire city to yourself.

The immersive design of SUMMIT adds another layer to it. The mirrored spaces and glass floors amplify the sunrise in a way that feels almost unreal, like stepping into a dream version of New York. Every angle becomes a photo opportunity, but honestly, it’s one of those moments where you’ll want to just stop and take it in.

What really makes it special is the contrast—you’re standing above one of the busiest cities in the world, yet at that hour, it feels peaceful and personal.

Bottom line:
• Go early—as early as possible
• Expect an unforgettable experience
• Bring your camera, but don’t forget to just enjoy the moment

Definitely recommend—especially at dawn. It’s New York at its most magical.
One of the coolest experiences I've done ! It is a piece of art (even the elevator has animated lights and sounds).

But most importantly this is one of the best picture spots in NY, there are 9 rooms all with a different theme such as mirrors, glasse, floating balls, etc.

You end the activity with a restaurant (in Wich you can get free coffee if you bought the right pass)
Wonderful view of course. The show all around (strobbing elevator lights, mirrors, balloons, pictures taken of you so u can buy them etc…)seemed a bit unnecessary but ok. Bathrooms have really nice view too! And great thing is no one is kicking you out, you can stay as long as you wish ✌️
Great experience visiting the observation deck and enjoying the views from the top. Unfortunately, the lift performance didn’t work during our visit, but the staff were great and gave us free tickets for our next visit. Still an impressive and memorable spot in NYC.
A truly unique NYC observation experience. The mirrored rooms, balloons, and skyline views make SUMMIT feel immersive, not just another lookout. Well organized, memorable, and absolutely worth it if you want something beyond the standard observation deck.
Super cool but very crowded. Well done in terms of observation decks. Would recommend. The Ascent feature didn’t add much value to the overall experience.
This is an amazing experience. The views are absolutely incredible. You can see all of Central Park vs the sliver you can see from the Empire State Building. The first 2 floors you visit are all inside. The 3rd floor is inside, but there's also an outdoor terrace you can go into with see thru panes that go well above your head. As someone who loves a birdseye view but is also moderately afraid of heights, this was perfect. It felt much more secure than the Empire State's outdoor portion. The balloon room was an interesting twist and so we're all the reflections of yourself and everyone else in the room with you. The only downside was there was a very long wait. I was in line for about 45 minutes before I finally made it up to the top, so plan accordingly. It's worth the wait.
Had a blast overlooking the big NYC from the 92nd floor. Go, get some tickets an enjoy the view, have a drink and enjoy the sunset with some of your dear friends. We did. Wooo!
worth the price. i know it’s a bit expensive, but unlike other viewing platforms One Vanderbilt offers so much. the mirror room is so fun and we waited for sunset..and as it got dark and we explored the rest they have to offer, the balloons and glass bottom floor
Visiting One Vanderbilt’s SUMMIT was one of the highlights of our trip. We went in the morning, and it turned out to be the perfect time: there were very few people around, so we could enjoy everything at a relaxed pace without the usual crowds. Even though the weather was a bit rainy, the views were much better than expected. The clouds gave the skyline a dramatic, almost mystical look, which made the whole experience feel unique and atmospheric.

The observatory itself is unlike any other in New York. It’s not just about the view – the mirrored floors, ceilings, and walls create incredible reflections and optical illusions that make the cityscape look endless. Walking through these installations feels almost surreal, and every step offers a new perspective for photos and for simply taking in the moment.

The glass walls and the open design make you feel fully connected to the city, while still being completely comfortable indoors. Everything was well organized, from entry and security to the elevators and flow of the exhibits.

Overall, SUMMIT at One Vanderbilt is more than an observation deck – it’s part art installation, part city view, and a truly unforgettable experience. Highly recommended, especially if you go early in the day.
Summit One Vanderbilt is by far the best observation deck experience I’ve had in New York. It had the views, but also an art installation with mirrored floors, ceilings, and interactive spaces that feel like you’re walking through an infinity mirror. Compared to the Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, or The Edge, this one stands out because it combines city views with immersive art and photo opportunities.

We spent about two hours here, but you could easily take longer if you stop for more photos. There are three floors to explore, each with different installations, and the famous “balloon room” from TikTok is actually as fun as it looks. A few tips: bring sunglasses or wear glasses during the day if you can since it gets very bright and even a little hot when the sun reflects inside. Also, once you move to the next floor you can’t go back down, so take your time and get your photos before moving on.

There are drinks and light snacks on the top level which is a nice touch. Overall, this is more than an observation deck, it’s a one-of-a-kind artistic experience that’s worth the ticket. Out of all the NYC towers, this is the one I would recommend most.
