So the food looked good. The bread was decent, the pasta was probably the only thing I would say was delicious. They put a dish of veggies on the table that was flavorless. My pasta fagioli was very much not gourmet at all, it was almost like if you ordered it from a high school cafeteria. I couldn’t eat more than half, I make better at home in 10 mins than that. My mother ordered chicken franchise, but instead of a lemon wine sauce, they just smothered it in brown gravy. She sent it back. The waiter said that’s just how they make it. I’ve never seen that. I got a chicken Caesar salad. The salad was good, but the chicken had little flavor. As for dessert, I got the coconut ice cream. That was alright but nothing special. I heard the tiramisu was pretty basic as well from the others at my table. The waiter was a nice guy, attentive and entertaining. The owner greeted us at the end, which was nice. Very old school, that. But the atmosphere was a little rambunctious. Not the dining hall itself, but there were 3 proms happening in the other room so the music was blasting and kids kept screaming. The overall experience could have been better. I can’t say I would go back.

Gargiulo’s Restaurant was a wonderful venue for a christening celebration. We had the pleasure of capturing both photography and video there, and the experience was excellent from beginning to end.<br><br>The staff provided great service, the food was delicious, and the space had a warm, elegant feel for a family celebration. One of our favorite details was the beautiful natural light on the dance floor, which made the moments feel even more special and photographed beautifully.<br><br>A great location for anyone planning a christening, family event, or milestone celebration.
The world in general is a rough place, and Brooklyn is just as rough. But it’s made all the better by the likes of Gargiulo’s. I had their Caesar salad and risotto. And to put it simply, it was all authentic in an age of authenticity. And our server was also a really cool cat. I don’t know if I’ll ever end up in Coney Island again, but if I do, I wouldn’t mind making another trip to Gargiulo’s for some authentic Italian food and friendly service.
We came here for Mother’s Day with a reservation and had an extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. Despite having a reservation, we waited nearly 20 minutes to be seated while there were multiple empty tables in the section we were eventually brought to.<br><br>Once seated, it took another 15–20 minutes before anyone even greeted our table. Our waiter was practically nowhere to be found the entire night, and everything took forever to come out. The service was absolutely horrendous.<br><br>The food was just as bad as the service. Nobody at our table finished their meal because the quality was terrible. The chicken cutlet tasted like a frozen premade chicken patty with mozzarella slapped on top. For a restaurant with Gargiulo’s reputation, this was honestly shocking.<br><br>To make matters worse, we were the last table there because the service was so slow, yet we were being stared down by waiters and bus boys as if it was somehow our fault we were still there. Instead of apologizing for the delays, we were made to feel uncomfortable with dirty looks all around.<br><br>My brother even spoke to the owner about the experience and was basically told he “farms out workers for busy nights” and didn’t know what to do. That response alone was unacceptable.<br><br>We’ve been to Gargiulo’s many times before and have recommended it to others in the past, but after this experience we will not be returning. What a huge disappointment, especially on Mother’s Day.
Hate being a hater. All I can say is this is the first time I’d DIDN’T finish a chicken parm (and not because it was too big or I was too full). Granted I was there for a big event and catering things is tough but wasn’t what I wanted it to be.
Gargiulo's has a very nice atmosphere (4 stars) that makes for a pleasant dining environment. My overall experience was a solid 4 stars, though I found both the food and the service to be more middle-of-the-road at 3 stars each. It's a classic spot with a great feel, even if the meal itself was standard.
My husband and I decided to try this place for a first try. We’re both big foodies and enjoy delicious foods and dining out. We ordered out. It was absolutely terrible. It was like Italian food made at a nursing home (if that’s even a thing), lol.
This was my first visit, for a fraternal function. I've had better food, but it was enjoyable. The drinks were strong, but I wasn't driving so I'm not worried. The venue was beautiful, and the staff are friendly and accommodating.
Held 60th Birthday, 10th Anniversary combined celebration. Had a great time. Service was outstanding and atmosphere perfect. Anthony and his team are to be commended. Reasonably priced also. Thanks again.
Woooow such an amazing experience! Stepping into this restaurant was like going back in time 60 years to a bygone era of the godfather and goodfellas. Tuxedo clad waiters and a dress code with classy 1960s era of fine dining was such a cool experience. Our waiter Jerry was soooo classy, funny, and friendly! He was able to explain everything in the menu with detail and gave us awesome recommendations.<br><br>The food was spectacular 60s era Italian dining with baked clams, veal Parmesan, and an absolutely massive seafood pasta platter that they served on still in the pan.<br><br>Absolutely spectacular gargiulo’s is a must visit when you come to Coney Island, grazie mille!
We had just arrived in town and needed a nice meal. Wow, did we hit the jackpot! Greeted at the door by the owner, atmosphere was gorgeous yet comfortable, food was amazing, Emilio, our server, was not only professional, but friendly, and made our dining experience that much more special. Very reasonably priced for this quality of food and level of service. On the way out we spoke to George, the bartender, I can’t wait to come back and try one of his espresso martinis! Thank you!
The food here is absolutely divine, and the atmosphere is simply electrifying! The live music adds a whole new level of excitement. It's impossible to resist the urge to jump up and dance! We decided to celebrate Valentine's Day here, and let me tell you, it was an exceptional experience. I cannot recommend this place enough.
Classic Italian Restaurant in the heart of Coney Island. We went as a large group and quickly found out they are very strict with dress code and who can come in. Several members of our group were not allowed in, which made for some tension at our table.<br>Those who did get in were taken care of with a good meal and service. We started with some fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. To me, it was bland and the cheese rubbery with unripe tastless tomatoes. It needed oil and balsamic vinegar to wake it up. We then had their excellent zucchini fries that were light and sweet and one of the best I have had. Our pasta dish was penne with tomatoe sauce. The penne was cooked perfectly aldante, but I felt the sauce was a bit too sharp. It needed plenty of sprinkled parmasian to smooth it out. I tried the broiled salmon, which was slightly overcooked but good. I thought the egg plant parm I tasted was much better, tender, and very flavourful. The sauce on the parm to me was better than on the pasta dish. We ended with a delicious slice of their cannoli cake. It was light with the perfect balance of cream and mini chocolate chips between the layers. The regular coffee served was strong and a smooth roast but unfortunately served lukewarm.<br>Overall, the food is very good if you choose wisely. But be prepared in this modern day to dress and look, in their acceptable way, or you might not get in.
Brought several people here for a business lunch and the food as always was great. The owner gave us a quick tour and history of the place. I’ve come here when I’ve been in the area for years and it’s a Brooklyn institution. Love the photo of Tony Sirico on the wall.
Amazing restaurant! Food is super delicious and service is great! At first, we thought that we’d pay more than $100 each because restaurant looked very fancy but eventually prices are reasonable like in other NY restaurants. Restaurant is also available on open table which makes reservation process easy. Also valet parking is available. Definitely try their pasta - we liked it a lot.
