Fahad and the rest of the staff took great care of us. We were there to celebrate a birthday and they made it a special occasion. They allowed us to have the cake we brought served there and played two birthday songs over the speakers in the restaurant. The food was delicious and plenty generous in portion size. The appetizers we shared were the cauliflower (lasuni gobi), naan, papadum, onion fritters, poori, samosas, garlic butter shrimp. All excellent. The aloo gobi was spicy and flavorful. We also had some of the specials (lobster masala, lamb chops masala), along with lamb vindaloo, butter chicken and tandoori chicken (incredible!). Everything was great. We enjoyed our meal.

I think the food here may be better for non-vegetarians but it was strictly ok for vegetarians. Don’t get fooled by the ratings. I ordered dal makhani, aloo paratha and paneer kadai. Paneer and dal were decent but the paratha was barely acceptable. My experienced did not map to the high ratings I saw before going in.

The food was excellent and I’d gladly return. The restaurant is usually known for its pleasant atmosphere and attentive service, which is why this experience felt somewhat out of the ordinary.

During a weekday visit with colleagues, the dining room was unusually loud and very energetic, making it difficult to fully appreciate the otherwise elegant atmosphere. Service also seemed strained by the volume of guests that day. Our orders took about 40 minutes to arrive, and there appeared to be some confusion when dishes were brought to the table.

That said, I genuinely believe this was a situational issue rather than the norm. The staff remained professional, and the quality of the food more than met expectations. Worth noting for accuracy, but not enough to keep me from returning. Very good food and a restaurant I’d happily visit again.

Absolutely delicious meal! I had the chicken vindaloo (I was warned it was spicy but I love spicy meals so it was delicious!). I ordered the lemon rice and naan on the side and the lemon rice was a really pleasant surprise that added a nice balance to the spicy vindaloo. Drinks were STRONG, I ordered the mango lassi cocktail and it was more than enough to get me a bit buzzed. Syed Haider and my server were both attentive, chatting with their tables, and offered me a glass of wine and desert on the house!

If you’re looking for Indian in midtown definitely give this place a visit, my family and I had a wonderful mother’s day dinner here. As everyone else says the food is excellent, the paneer was particularly soft and tasty, but the service really sets Cloves apart from other restaurants. Syed specifically was very accommodating when we asked to move tables and no request was met with a no.

I had such a wonderful dining experience at Cloves Indian Cuisine. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious—the Goa shrimp curry was rich and full of flavor, the tikka paneer was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the lemon rice was fresh and vibrant.

The ambience made the whole evening even better—comfortable, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxed meal. What truly stood out, though, was the level of attention and customer service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely cared for throughout the entire dinner.

To top it all off, the surprise dessert at the end was such a thoughtful touch—the perfect “cherry on top” of an already amazing experience.

Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great Indian food and exceptional service!

The main course was super authentic. The appetizers were alright. Highly recommend their kerala chicken. They had good non-vegetarian food but they can work on their vegetarian options.

If any restaurant could be described as a warm hug, this would be the one. The temperature, the aroma, the service, the flavor all 5/5. Our waiter, Fahad was amazing! So positive and so attentive.

We had Shrimp Byrani, Lemon Rice, Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, and the Rosemary Naan and wow. Every single sauce, spice, perfection. The chicken was super tender.

Response from the owner

Place is good 👍 starters came quickly. Main course took longer time on a Thursday lunch. Taste was good and quantity with respect to price at NYC was good 😊 it costed us around $40-45 per person for lunch. Place was nicely decorated with flowers 🌼🌹 and looked good. We ordered Kadai paneer, daal makhani, bhindi masala and it was tasty. Vegetable platter could have been better. See pics and videos for more details. Thanks 🙏👍

Cloves Indian Cuisine is an attractive restaurant tucked away in a quiet area of NOMAD on Madison at 27th Street. The portions are very generous, the staff is gracious and warm, and every dish is perfectly prepared, layered and flavorful. We ordered several appetizers, not knowing just how large all the portions would be. The plump Samosas had a perfectly brown, crisp crust and a delicious mixture of spices, enhanced with fresh cinnamon. The onion fritters and lasuni gobi were also crisp and fresh. Each of the condiments—mango chutney, tamarind, raita—were uncommonly delicious with more complex flavors than usual. For entrees we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, which was my husband's favorite for how fresh and well prepared the meat was. I loved the Butter Chicken for its complex, deeply layered flavors (I swear I tasted a hint of cocoa in one of the bites), and the Malai Kofta and Yellow Daal vegetarian dishes were sweet and full of spice. Even the enormous poori puff that arrived perfectly browned and hot, was tastier than most with a lovely sweetness. For dessert we enjoyed warm Gulab Jamun and cool Ras Malai, both expertly prepared takes on classic desserts. All of these are traditional Northern Indian dishes that we’ve ordered so many times at other restaurants, but at Cloves I felt like I was discovering them for the first time. Cloves isn’t one of the cookie-cutter restaurants in the nearby enclave, nor is it one of the more expensive attempts at fine dining scattered about the city. Cloves is the homey, authentic, carefully prepared product of a talented chef with a thoughtful and gracious staff, to whom we will certainly return for more.

I had an amazing time dining at Cloves India Cuisine. The food was absolutely incredible rich flavors, perfect spice levels, and dishes that tasted homemade in the best way possible. Every plate felt thoughtful and authentic, from the appetizers to the curries to the naan that came out warm and fresh.
What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. Syed, the manager, was the sweetest and most generous host. He checked in multiple times, made sure everything was perfect, and genuinely made us feel welcomed and taken care of. His kindness and hospitality truly elevated the entire meal.
If you’re looking for delicious Indian food paired with exceptional service, Cloves India Cuisine is the place to be. I’ll definitely be returning!
