Food was very tasty but I ordered 2 chicken bowls with the falafel add-on & the veggies but they completely forgot the chicken in both bowls & I couldn’t go back because I was already at work.

UPDATED MAY 2026:
the owner was kind enough to reach out personally for me to get fresh order. Everything was still just as delicious and fresh. Can’t wait to go back!

Response from the owner

Hi Amanda, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We sincerely apologize for this mishap, and have already been in touch with you via email to rectify the situation. We will work with our staff to make sure it does not happen again. We hope to see you at Basta again for a full meal that surpasses your expectations.

Some of the best chicken schwarma I've had in a long time. And I travel to SWANA at least twice a year. Chicken was thinly sliced, crispy and evenly distributed throughout. Pita bread was soft and fluffy. Tahini was smooth and creamy. Fries were thin and seasoned perfectly. I'll be back very soon!

Sensational new Schawarma wrap they have! The pomegranate molasses offers a wonderful flavor profile that we love! I’ve spent time in the ME and their flavors take me right back to the Bazaar. Thank you!

Sooooo delicious! Can’t wait to keep coming back and trying all their dips and sauces and veggies. Some of the best falafel and pita I’ve ever had in the city.

I built the most incredible chicken shawarma bowl here and I was not disappointed! Logan made sure I felt so welcome from the moment I walked in, genuinely one of the most attentive servers I’ve had in the city. The bowl had everything, perfectly seasoned chicken, fresh cabbage, cucumber salad and the most generous serving of hummus on top. Also, the interior of the restaurant just added to the whole vibe. I’ll be back! ✨

This is one of the best middle eastern food places I have ever been to in New York. The falafel is good and the Amba sauce is to die for! Highly recommended. Don’t forget to try the matboukha with falafel as well!

This is by far the most impressed I have ever been by a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean bowl place. The presentation, amount of food, quality of ingredients, and diversity of options honestly blew me away. To top it all off, their Tannour and Pita bread are the best I have ever had in the city. The staff was also super friendly and nice. Absolutely love this place and plan on coming back all the time!! I only took a pic of the meal box but we also got a bowl and the falafel sandwich and everything was a 10/10!

I visited this grill and had a falafel sandwich with hummus. Both were delicious. Ordering is easy and modern via a touchscreen, and as a nice surprise they even brought me three falafels to try for free. Beautiful designed is the restaurant as well. The staff were smiling and welcoming, which really makes you feel comfortable. The only downside is that there are no restrooms, as the place is quite small. Still, definitely worth trying!

I had a wonderful time eating at Basta Grill! The server at the front was extremely patient with me as I learned what was on the menu. She gave me great recommendations and even let me sample a dip before I placed my order. I ended up ordering the build your own bowl, with baba ghanouj dip, chicken shawarma, cauliflower, and carrots. It was absolutely delicious. I would also highly recommend you get a side of fries! They all come seasoned and taste great. I highly recommend Basta Grill!

Response from the owner

Hi Clo,

Thank you for the lovely review and we are so happy you were able to try some of the dips while building your bowl. And we could not agree with you more, our fries are out of this world!!!

Hope to see you again soon!

Basta is a wonderful quick service eatery on 47th between 9th and 10th ave. The restaurant is very clean and we were greeted by friendly and attentive staff.
We chose to build our own bowl including beef Kofta, brown rice, roasted cabbage and chopped salad (with a spicy Feta tahini). The other bowl substituted quinoa with pickled red cabbage and eggplant.
Overall I highly recommend you give this place a try. You will not be disappointed.

Response from the owner

Hi MJ,
Thank you for the kind words, we are ecstatic you enjoyed your time at Basta and hope to see you again soon!
I and my parents were coming from out of town and found this place while walking around. My mom is moroccan and said the food tasted closest to what it tastes like back at home(that's saying alot coming from someone who Is very particular with her food). She recommends the kofta sandwich (fish meatballs). I will say that it is a little pricey but it's absolutely worth it (also like I said again, we are from out of town so it might just be normal here, ~15 - 25$). Overall 9.1/10

Response from the owner

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your experience, Sofia. Welcome to New York!

Overall food was pretty good, the fries surprised me the most. Chicken and veggies tasted fresh, rice was well cooked, hummus and tahini were good as well.

Casablanca bowl price ($17) is mostly in line with these "higher end" bowl places.

Interior is super clean and the staff was nice. The only downside is that seating is pretty limited but they tried with the space they have.

Delicious and fresh! A great concept. I’d probably recommend allowing a few more vegetable choices in each bowl. Great healthy meal before heading out to a show. Loved the falafel and the cauliflower. Generous portion. Would recommend!

Basta is great! The food is SO fresh. There are never-ending options for base, proteins, veggies, dips, and breads. The staff is super helpful with answering questions. It’s the perfect option for a quick meal before a Broadway show or for a casual lunch.

Really fresh and delicious food. I love the variety of vegetables and sauces they have. The breads were delicious. I got the dip bowl with falafel, hummus, carrots and beets and finished the whole thing. So tasty. Wish I lived closer I would go here all the time.

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for you’re feedback!
