Fantastic food with large portions and reasonable prices. The bread is out of this world! It is delicious with the babaganoush, hummus or soup. The falafel was crunchy and flavorful. The kabob was juicy. I wish I'd received the tea that I ordered because it smelled spicy.

The food is incredible. The eggplant and mixed veggies dishes were my favorite. I also got white fragrant rice and baked chicken.

The spicy green sauce is also very nice.

the best. had the fahsa and to be fair I have nothing to compare it to. But amazing. Especially for a slow eater like me. Note you need a cold drink. And the bathroom was clean.

Outstanding! Got the combo platter for 2. It was massive and delicious. We added some lentil soup which was also excellent. 10/10.

The food here is phenomenal and great value for the money. Don’t miss the lamb and the flatbread — tasted amazing!!! If you’re ever in NYC don’t miss this great find. Better than a lot of much fancier places I’ve tried in the city!

Just had the oqdat chicken which came with fresh Yemeni bread and it was absolutely delicious! The flavor was rich and balanced and the bread was warm and large! The worker was very nice and was telling me about Yemen and how this bread is very traditional. I’d highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back.

A must order would definitely be the classic roasted lamb over rice haneeth the lamb was incredibly soft and tender and the rice was delightful. It comes with this great okra veggie stew on the side of the rice. I definitely prefers this over the chicken kebsa however, but perhaps if I had ordered lamb kebsa it would be just as good as the lamb haneeth.

Above all I loved the meat over hummus dish with this fresh crispy yet soft massive piece of naan bread they give. The hummus was flavorful and yet it still felt filling and light compared to the heavier haneeth dish that’ll put you in a food coma!

Definitely recommend this place for the food quality and the sweet Yemeni hospitality.

I asked for lots of vegetables, a bit of the tender lamb, and a tiny bit of rice. The boss listened and gave me just that. It was delicious!
I went back another day for chicken. The flatbread is tasty, too.

This was my first time eating here and I’ll definitely be coming back! The staff are very friendly and respectful, and the platters are generous in size. They don’t skimp on portions, which makes it a great value.

You have to try this place! The food is absolutely delicious, especially the Fahsa – rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The portions are big and very satisfying, so you’ll definitely leave full and happy. The restaurant is spotless and very well kept, which makes the dining experience even better. On top of that, the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always serving with genuine enthusiasm and warmth. You can really feel their passion for both the food and the customers. This has quickly become one of my favorite spots, and I can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommended!

Had Albanian and lot of middle eastern places yet not any Yemeni food yet (had a lot of their coffee though). Went with a friend and now I question: Where has it been all my life here at NYC! It is very close but i always skip when I travel close. Don’t be intimidated by the name or location, try it and also get addicted.

The drinks were a perfect start-a yogurt-based drink (something start with S?) that was tangy and salty and super cooling. Then half way through we added mint lemonade, that was bright and refreshing to counterbalance the rich dishes.

Food:
lamb zurbian—deeply spiced and fall-apart tender lamb, paired beautifully with fluffy, flavorful rice. I loved the crispy fried onions/shallots in there. It is rich without being super oily.

The liver was a surprise favorite—surprising the lightest dish of the day due to tomato content. They are lamb livers perfectly cooked and packed with flavor.

Their flatbread, omg, three times the size of my face. Nicely charred outside, pillowy soft inside, fluffy and stretchy. It has texture and flavors of a pita on the outside and soda biscuits in the middle.

And the sauces—every single one added a bold, vibrant kick that elevated the dishes even more.

Dessert:
Please don’t skip dessert, or you can eat it as an entree. They are warm, comforting, and just the right amount of sweetness and texture.

Massoub
Banana-bread based topped with cream and nuts and corn flakes. Mushy (good kind) at bottom. Great if you are into banana with cream.

Areeka
Date-bread based topped with cream and nut and corn flakes. More dense at the bottom than Massoub. Loved the dates. We took home the leftovers and actually ordered one more to go.

To top it off, the service was superb—warm, welcoming, and attentive. Can’t wait to come back.

I’d say I wasn’t impressed walking past by but once I walked in, my opinions have changed.

Decors are sweet, staff are super friendly, food amount is very generous. Lamb chops elsewhere are tiny lollipops but theirs are huge with meat covered in charred, crispy fat. Their bread is also really good for any dipping or wrapping.

Would recommend!!!

I had an amazing dining experience at Yemeni Restaurant NYC! From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff was friendly, attentive, and eager to ensure a great experience.

I ordered the lamb haneeth, and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly tender, slow-cooked to perfection, and infused with incredible flavors. It practically melted in my mouth! The seasoning was spot on, and the portion size was generous. It was served with fragrant basmati rice that complemented the dish beautifully.

The side dishes and fresh bread were also a fantastic touch. The Yemeni-style bread was warm, soft, and paired perfectly with the flavorful sauces. The traditional tea at the end of the meal was a great way to wrap up the experience.

Beyond the food, the restaurant itself was clean and comfortable, with a cozy ambiance that made the meal even more enjoyable. It’s clear that the chefs take pride in their cooking, and the authenticity of the flavors really shines through.

If you’re looking for authentic Yemeni cuisine in NYC, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes! Highly recommended.
