I got the spicy cumin lamb noodles. Lamb and noodles was very tender and made fresh and hot. The noodles were about what I expected for this type of noodles. It's different. Spicy level is a pretty good amount so hopefully you like spicy. I think it was enjoyable. Just wish it was had more flavor than just cumin and spicy
Fast casual eating. Order at register at cash and they'll call your number when its ready. Self clean up after!
I got the hand pulled pork noodles with spice one above regular and I eat a lot of spicy food but it had a nice kick yo it. Texture of noodles were delicious and pork was seasoned great. Recommend for budget friendly eating spot!
Decent Chinese food. The menu was a little limited, not like a traditional family style Chinese restaurant, but there was no line when we went and the food came out quickly. The food was pretty good, flavorful and spicy, but nothing too special.
Came here to try this place for the first time. There’s a lot of seating and tables, there are even kiosks where you can order via card only. I believe this place is cash only if ordered at the register. I ordered some kind of pork noodle soup dish with no spice but the taste wasn’t to my liking. The noodles were good and chewy, the cabbage was pickled and sour (which I liked), but the pork was super salty. Maybe this dish is supposed to taste better with spice but I can’t handle spice so ordered non spicy. The chrysanthemum tea was very good though and wasn’t too sweet. This place doesn’t require tip and prices are pretty reasonable. If the pork tasted better, I feel like I would’ve enjoyed it more.
Response from the owner
Glad you enjoyed the noodles! Looks like you got the stewed pork noodles in soup, without any spice. Highly recommend some spice, per our poster in store (not spicy is not as good). You are also welcome to try a different dish that may be more suitable to your taste, such as our spicy cumin lamb and spicy and tingly beef, both top sellers. As for the cashier, no, not cash only, just they Can take cash, while kiosk cannot.
This is hands down the best Chinese fast food in the world!!! I haven’t been here since 2019 because of the COVID pandemic of 2020. Damn you COVID for being the reason- I have missed out on 6 yrs of Xian Famous Foods on Bayard street in Manhattan, Chinatown!!!
Their signature is “hand ripped” noodles and perfect blend of spices is worth taking a trip from Austin, Texas every yr!!!
My kid found this place on Google maps. We had spicy cumin lamb noodle, the soup version of that and spicy and sour spinach dumplings.
All delicious!
Place was busy and there was a wait, seats are also a hot commodity (pun intended).
There is a single bathroom, there was no toilet paper, so I encourage you to check first; I always do :-) and just grabbed some napkins.
My 5 stars are for the food taste and quality.
Atmosphere gets a lower rating because of the lack of TP.
Wow this was interesting! Came here because of the amazing pictures on Google. We both got the pulled noodles and shared soup dumplings. A little bit pricey for Chinatown ($22 for a noodle dish and dumplings) but it came quick and portions were massive. Tables were really tall so tough to eat for short people. Dumplings were good but not very soupy. Noodles were delicious with a great texture. Mine wasn't spicy enough but my friends definitely was. Very messy so def don't wear a white shirt, lol! I really liked this but definitely was an intense meal.
I have walked in here many times ... looked at the menu... but was always too full to try it. But I always looked at the menu even before visiting NY and added to all my lists so I remembered to make it my first stop (after Mamoun's) upon arriving in NY.

During this visit to NY, we came here TWICE (Yea, it was that good!!!) and ordered the following:

[N1] Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand-Ripped Noodles - insanely delicious, we ordered in the spiciest option, but it really wasn't too spicy but still perfect. We ended up going back the next day to order this again. Definitely and highly recommend.
[N2] Spicy & Tingly Beef Muscle Hand-Ripped Noodles - we ordered in the spiciest option; the proportion of protein to noodles was a little off.
[F4] Spicy & Sour Lamb Dumplings (7) - this was definitely a different taste, the lamb was a little tough compared to the lamb with the noodles. It did share the same "tingly" taste as the Beef muscle hand-pulled noodles.

They have self-service kiosks available, which is super helpful if it gets crowded. Instead of a basic menu, they have digital images of the dish, the name and the price. I remember once upon a time, they had printed pictures...but either way it is all helpful to see what we are getting. The prices definitely increased and average about $14/dish. They accept both cash and card, even google pay (maybe also apple pay). There is plenty of seating available, unless it gets very crowded.

At first I wasn't thrilled about the disposable plates, but in the end, it's much easier since people are tossing their own garbage and leaving trays at the entrance. There is a bathroom available, the code is provided at the counter.

Would I return? Definitely without a doubt!!
The restaurant is very clean and well-kept. Service was friendly, and the food came out really fast – great if you’re short on time. Most importantly, the taste was excellent: fresh, authentic, and flavorful. The dumplings and noodles had just the right amount of spice and were full of flavor.
A perfect spot for a quick and delicious stop in Chinatown – I’ll definitely come back!
I got the spicy oil noodles and the hibiscus drink. Both so good. The noodle sauce has a slight acidity that enhances the flavor. The noodle is cooked to a good texture which is a good kinda chewiness but not too hard (also not too soft which is the beauty of pulled noodle). The drink is nice and cold, not too sweet; perfect pair for the slightly spicy noodles. The place is clean and air conditioned with plenty of seats. Also liked the self order kiosk which makes the line go faster. In general a good experience and will come back.
Xi’an Famous Foods Chinatown, NYC

🥢 Cold Skin Noodles (涼皮)
We found the classic 涼皮 really comforting and something you’d definitely want to come back for.
It was tossed in a chili oil–based sauce, nothing fancy but flavorful and satisfying.

🥟Spinach Dumplings
They were on the lighter side, which balances out the 涼皮. The filling was a little dry on their own, but adding chili oil helped balanced it out.
Would’ve loved the option to mix dumpling flavors (half spinach, half lamb) though!

Atmosphere:
The restaurant was generally comfortable to dine in. However, many of the tables had smudges or leftover sauces, which made the space feel a bit less clean than expected.

Overall, this is a place I’d definitely go back to again! Would’ve loved to try out the other dishes as well, which I’m sure would taste great!
This place was fantastic. My wife really wanted to try a hand pulled noodle place and 1915 Lanzhou was closed. So we came here instead and I’m very happy this was the case.

I really really enjoyed my meal. I had the lamb dish, with mildly spicy noodles, and had the dish made “dry”. I was worried that in china town regular spicy noodles would be too spicy 🥵. I regret getting the mild and wish I’d got the regular spice. Otherwise this was an absolutely amazing meal and I truly enjoyed the meal. 🥘

My wife had the pork, no spice, and made dry also. Her dish was also very good but I definitely preferred the lamb and spices!
I've been here only a few times. I love their thick hand pull noodles and how chewy the texture is. It's definitely worth trying out this authentic place. Also definitely try them with some SPICE! I had no spice this time because of personal reason. Tofu was surprisingly yummy too!!!

The place was a little but dirty because no one came to clean up tables often so there were oil left on tables where I had to personally wipe before using it.
Delicious :) it was my first time trying Xi'an Food and I enjoyed every bite. It is very easy and quick to order your food (the menu is not that extensive but has enough to make you want to try everything) I love the fact that can order personally (if you pay with cash) or you can order by yourself through a touch screen menu (if you pay with card 💳). After order just take a sit and wait a few minutes and they'll call you by the order number from your receipt, you take your order, grab the cutlery you need and ENJOY :D
I love spicy food🌶️ and I was satisfied without having spent too much money. I'll be back to try the other dishes 🤤 I recommend you try their food :D You won't regret it ❤️🍜
