I shop at this Whole Foods regularly, and while the store itself is generally fine, the seafood counter has been a disappointing experience several times.

The service is inconsistent and sometimes careless. For example, I once clearly asked for 12 oysters and even repeated that I wanted 12, but the employee still gave me only 10. At other times, the counter does not seem to follow a clear first-come, first-served order. I have seen customers who arrived later get helped first, which feels unfair and unprofessional.

There have also been occasions when employees seemed to have trouble understanding simple seafood counter requests, which makes the experience slower and frustrating. I do not usually see this kind of issue at other Whole Foods locations.

At this point, I avoid buying seafood from this location unless I have no other choice.

Came in Saturday early afternoon and couldn’t get my cart through Aisle 3 because a staff member had her ladder and equipment spread out taking up way more space than necessary. It’s a busy time and multiple people had to turn their carts around because she was causing a huge backup. And she wasn’t willing to move or adjust at all. A little awareness goes a long way. Staff should be mindful of how much space they’re occupying, especially during peak hours when customers are trying to get through.

They had 1 of 2 things that I went there for. The location is great, the food smelled good and the upstairs seating area was nice. I would say the customer service needs to improve. No one greets you and you have to Find the right person who works can actually help you. However The cashier was really nice and upbeat.

It's very easy supermarket to navigate. The produce is generally fresh and the lines are not very long as far as their wait times. Overall the service is very good and it's nice to to shopping at this location.

The standard of service and the courteousness of the staff are fine but there’s a rude, nasty unhelpful produce clerk . He only cares about stocking the vegetables. He ignored, evaded and answered he had to finish his restocking when I wanted to know where the item on sale was, I asked twice.

Then at another time, I was standing in front of the vegetables and looking for my list and the same clerk crept up in front of me and the stand and said he had to finish stocking the veggies. Very unprofessional. He probably doesn’t speak English.

I was a buyer/owner for a big supermarket and we ensured positive company image by also providing courteous, friendly and efficient service to customers in addition to doing job responsibilities.

Lots of organic options. The 365 whole milk vanilla yogurt is the Creamiest yogurt I have ever had! Fresh breads are excellent! More affordable than a lot of supermarkets.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!! I love Wholefoods! But today I went to get coffee upstairs. As I do a couple of times a week. There was a guy with a beard and glasses with such a stupid and negative attitude. He gets annoyed because I was missing a penny, and he'd have to count coins ($0.99). So he puts all the change back as I try to hand him a nickle, and he snapped at me, raising his voice. "Here's your change!!" If he can't deal with people why the hell does Wholefoods have him there? DO BETTER WF's! I don't pay $5 for a coffee to get an attitude on the side. I'm in hospitality myself. I NEVER treat anyone this way.

Encountered the rudest staff ever. I don’t usually use the staff check out, but today I tried it bc the line was short and I have a very terrible backache. The staff was so impolite and unhelpful when it was challenging for me to pick up all the items from the basket on the ground for her. I do not understand the reason of actual human staff versus the check out machine if they cannot even help the customer based on their individual needs and make the shopping more accessible. Very disappointed.

Customer service here is pretty good.
Their elevator was broken for some time and I had a stroller with me. The staffs went above and beyond im assisting me with items I needed from the second floor.

Dear Whole Foods management:
I didn’t pay $3.50, same price as a bakery shop, for each of these to bite on an old hard piece of pastry!
You can do better!

Amazon return times can be very long due to lines (and they make you go upstairs). If you go after work, be prepared for it to take 20-25 minutes to process your Amazon return.
I got a reply from Whole Foods telling me to visit a certain website to give more feedback. But even that just put me in a queue for an agent who never came. I feel like Amazon does not value my time at all and I will try to shop there less in the future as a result. The store does not manage their lines well for returns and there was not good signage. One of the lines was much longer than the other one because one of them had staff support (but I didn’t notice that at first). It’s a huge inconvenience in nyc to have to get to a Whole Foods, and on top of that it’s on the second floor (with stairs not an elevator/escalator), and then insult to injury was the long line.

I came back a few months later on a Monday and the line was even longer, but at least it’s moving lot faster. The single automated return box was broken so everyone was waiting in one line.
In addition, the produce here is inferior to the Whole Foods on Bryant park.

Whole Foods Market – East 57th Street, New York

This Midtown East Whole Foods is clean, modern, and very convenient for nearby residents and office workers. The store offers fresh produce, bakery, groceries, and prepared foods with Amazon Prime deals available. However, the aisles are a bit narrow and it can get crowded during peak hours. Prices are on the higher side, as expected at Whole Foods, and the selection is slightly smaller compared to larger locations. Overall, it’s a good option for quality groceries and quick meals, but best to shop during off-peak times for a smoother experience.

Reporting on my return to the Amazon Return Center at Whole Foods on east 57th st. Reported return on line at Amazon and the took my wife’s two pants to this center to process. The return center is upstairs next to the coffee stand. The guy on duty today was very pleasant and efficient. Waited a few minutes as two people were in line. Total time in and out was 15 minutes. This is why so many people love to shop from Amazon on line - returns are so easy.

Response from the owner

Very clean, everything looked nice, like you would expect at a Whole Foods in New York City, but it did feel kind of weirdly laid out. Some of the shelving units seemed to kind of be an afterthought. Nothing bad about this location, but not the best.

I went specifically to pick up some vegetables because I am vegetable averse and want to start trying new things, the ready-made food bar was nice.

Very crowded, hard to find items with minimal labeling on the shelfs, items are moved frequently to different locations in the store, mainly self checkout, only few cashiers at the checkout lane. It is a supermarket that identifies as who knows what. Need to simplify.

Response from the owner

We're so sorry you were disappointed on your recent visit. We have sent your feedback to the store. We hope you have a good day!
