Westside Market NYC

Often extremely crowded and the selection of all goods used to be more diverse.<br><br>I recently tried their brand of smores ice cream.<br><br>Ugh.<br><br>It wouldnt melt and most of it was some marshmallow paste.

They stopped selling good bread like Pain D'Avignon as well as other good brands and substituted their store brand, Maria's. The sharp increases in prices plus this turn to a house brand bread says something about greed, not customer service. The same problem has manifested itself with the soups. They used to be excellent but now all taste the same. They use a common base broth and then just add whatever ingredient that defines the type of soup - vegetables, lentil, etc. And a small soup is now $7.99 which suggests to me a margin of several hundred percent. Again, they have gotten greedy. But they have a semi-monopoly in this neighborhood and risk little by jacking up their prices.

Their ready-to-eat section is a total lifesaver on busy weeknights. I grabbed the lasagna last week, and it tasted just like it was homemade. So good!

Been coming here for about a decade, going out of my way late night to get off the train anywhere from two-five stops before my stop to get a salad after work.<br><br>There are changes in life that aren't a tragedy and matter probably to nobody else, but that salad was healthy comfort food for me 2-3 times a week, for years and I'm heartbroken that the salad bar was removed and never replaced. They took it out and put in some.... ovens???? For god only knows what reason? There wasn't space for ovens in the back? I guess? I don't get it.<br><br>Anyway, I used to get my salad and then some odds and ends each time I was in but now that there's no salad bar here there's absolutely no reason to go out of my way to shop here. This is Manhattan, I can get overpriced groceries anywhere. RIP West Side Market salad bar, you'll live on forever in my heart.<br><br>And I'm aware that 96th street WSM has a salad bar, but last time I was in there they closed it down super early (7pm? 8pm?) and that one is even more out of my way. The deli on 110th and Manhattan Ave is your best bet now if you want a salad. They're not as good imo, but they're open 24/7 and they're friendly.<br><br>Shoutout to all the late night crew who have been so nice to me over the years. Hope y'all are doing well.

I do love this store your food is fresh and you can almost find everything you need in the food department that you might want. Now I am going to shop and see if they have some homemade dressing already done around the Christmas time so I can be able to feed myself and my neighbors who don't have anything to eat. I have bought many times here, no complaints. Unfortunately, today, I found a hair in one of their ready-to-go salads.

This used to be a special place. Now the quality of the food is in the toilet. They made cosmetic changes to the store, but it is lipstick on a pig. I stood in front a bin of lemons and the entire bin was mouldy. I bought a box of spinach, and 50% of the leaves were rotten. More and more people I talk to in the neighborhood agree that the quality has plummeted to a point that is intolerable. This market was a goldmine; now I suppose the owners want to turn it into a double plus platinum mine.<br>You've turned your back on the community. Have some self-respect.

Really phenomenal place, but the yogurt muffins are so disappointing!!! All of their normal pastries are so so yummy—but the YOGURT MUFFINS SUCK BAD. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I love this place as it has a huge variety of produce and cleaning supplies. Rarely do I not find what I need. Over the years I’ve discovered new fruits I was unaware of. Looks very clean especially the hot counter. Staff at check outs are efficient. You need to find someone if you need assistance but there’s always someone available quickly. Can be pricey for some but I believe it’s to accommodate their operational hours.

Just finished a meeting with a client on the Upper West Side when I stumbled upon this gem of a food boutique called West Side Market… It’s hot outside, so, I plan to load up a bunch of goodies & go home to cool off. So many great choices!

Good prices especially the tuna sushi grade. A good selection on milks. Fruits decent also.

One of the best markets in NYC!!!! Has everything ranging from fresh fruits and vegetables to sushi and cheese!! My experiences with staff have been friendly but my friend did have a bad experience here once, but overall good!!

Interesting selections. Lots of different kind of pastas. Lots of Italian food and lots of sauces and they had some fresh groceries as well. Lots of the fresh produce was out in the streets. It was a typical New York kind of a grocery shop. It was interesting to look at the cakes in the back and the space is actually a lot bigger than I thought it would be.

There are several good food markets om the west side, but Westside is a mong the best. Large selection of quality fruits and vegetables cheese and meat. A really good selection of prepared food, sandwiches and salads. Great staff, nice and helpful. I love this place.

The selection in this market is great but I have been burned too many times by the premade foods here. Don't be tempted by the large selection. Go get the soup or some of the premade guacamole. It's great.
