The Union Square Farmer’s Market is the leading reason I come downtown, as an uptown girl.

There are few places that have the selection of produce that this market has. I love to pick up Brócoli Romanesco here whenever I get a chance.

There couldn’t be a better location than the block surrounding the Union Square subway station.

Its more like a farmers market that sells mainly small farmers produce. With some knick knack stalls. There are some baked goods stalls too.

Total wash-out today, but I still had to make my weekly run. The quality here is just unmatched, shoutout to the vendors for sticking it out in the rain. Bread Alone was a lifesaver today with those fresh loaves. There’s something about the hustle and bustle under the tents that makes the wet weather bearable. If you’re looking for the freshest produce in the five boroughs, this is the only place that matters. Can’t wait for rhubarb season to really kick into high gear!

I really love the Union Square Greenmarket. I pass by almost every morning on my way to Parsons and it always brings a nice feeling to my day. I appreciate how it gives farmers and small producers the opportunity to share and sell their products. There is something special about buying directly from the people who grow or make the food.

I often stop to get baked goods, fresh vegetables, or bread. They have really good sourdough. In the spring, I also love buying flowers, it makes everything feel more alive.

I think it’s a beautiful opportunity for New Yorkers to buy fresh, local products and feel a real connection to the people behind them.

The farmers market is pretty good. Still on the pricier side, but the variety/ selection of vendors is great. All year I can get my bread, eggs and protein here for the week. Fresh produce/ fruit and vegetables in the warmer months are great.

I don’t know how it gets any better than this. Open four days a week year-round, this market offers a mind-boggling variety of top-quality vegetables, fruit, dairy, meat, and fish. The farmers are incredibly friendly, and what makes it even more impressive is the integrity behind it. The organization visits the farms to ensure that if something is labeled grass-fed, it truly is. There is absolutely no resale allowed, vendors must have grown, raised, milked, or caught the products themselves.

It’s a perfect place for a chef or anyone passionate about clean, high-quality food. I could easily spend the entire day here learning and exploring everything available. It can be pricey, but if you have the means and value eating clean, it’s well worth it. Try to avoid holidays since it’s a high foot-traffic area and can get very crowded.

Good variety of vegetables that can otherwise only be found at specialty or ethnic markets. Nothing is low priced but you can obviously see quality before you purchase.

A beautiful farmers' market with fresh, regional, and sustainable products, from delicious pies to colorful flowers and sweet honey from beekeepers on New York's skyscraper rooftops.

If you come here - tourist or local - you'll find a complete diversity of creative, hard working people, negotiating, laughting, playing chess or music. Fantastic culture!

Top location and definitely worth to visit.

Great public space with a lot of energy! I love coming to Union Square, especially on market days. The farmers market is fantastic, with a huge selection of fresh produce, baked goods, and flowers.
Beyond the market, the square is surrounded by a great variety of shops and cafes, so there's always something to do or a nice place to grab a coffee and people-watch. And of course, you can't miss the friendly squirrels running around in the middle of the park—they're always fun to see. It’s a classic NYC spot with a great vibe.

Union Square Greenmarket = Pure Joy 🌻🍎
I stopped by the Union Square Greenmarket on Monday and honestly? It was magical. The energy in the air was contagious—people laughing, chatting with farmers, sampling goodies, and soaking up the sunshine. It felt like the whole city had come out to celebrate fresh food and flowers. I ended up buying the most gorgeous sunflowers that looked like they were plucked straight from a summer dream. Everywhere I turned, there were vibrant fruits, crusty breads, homemade jams, and the kind of cheese that makes you do a happy dance. The vendors were so friendly and passionate—it made the whole experience feel like a warm hug from the local community. And then, just as the day was winding down, I witnessed something truly touching. One of the vendors was packing up, and he had a beautiful bucket of sunflowers still sitting out. An older woman walked by and asked how much they were. Without hesitation, he smiled and handed them to her—for free. Her face lit up with the kind of joy that stays with you. She was so grateful, and he was so kind. It was one of those small, quiet moments that reminds you how lovely people can be. Union Square was buzzing in the best way. If you’re ever in NYC and want to feel inspired, nourished, and maybe leave with a bouquet that makes strangers smile at you on the subway—go. Just go!!

It’s my favorite farmer’s market, with fresh flowers, vegetables, dairy products, breads and cookies.

This is the largest market in New York City, and offers fresh products delivered in from farms located north of New York State, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Vermont.

The prices are based on neighborhood so it’s not cheap, but you can get satisfying items.

I recommend ”the apple cider donuts”!

Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 8:00-18:00

Wonderful open air market akin to those in Europe. Wide selection of fresh organic veggies, fruits, flowers & plants. Also other vendors selling honey, fresh baked goods, seafood, meats, etc. Prices are high on some items while others are fair. A bustling place with lots of people shopping or just strolling through with dogs. You can grab a coffee & sit inside park right next to it. Trains station literally located few feet away.
