We went there with my family along with my daughter friend's to celebrate her Graduation. Their food quality was good except one item wasn't cooked properly. Also the food cost seems high compared to other same types of Cafe.

There are restaurants where you dine, and restaurants where you accidentally begin planning your retirement around the lamb chops. Truva Cafe & Grill in Astoria is firmly the latter.

The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the sort of warm, cosy atmosphere that makes you immediately loosen your shoulders and think, “Right then, perhaps civilisation isn’t entirely doomed.” The interior has that charming blend of old-world Turkish café and polished neighbourhood favourite, copper ceilings, soft lighting, and enough warmth to survive a British winter without emotional damage.

Now, the food.

The lahmacun arrived looking deceptively modest, rather like someone who says they dabble in tennis and then turns out to be Wimbledon-level dangerous. Thin, crisp, deeply savoury, properly spiced, with enough freshness and lemon to keep things lively. It vanished from the table at a speed usually associated with tax refunds. Their menu highlights Turkish classics like lahmacun, kebabs, gyros, and pides.

Then came the mixed grill: smoky chicken, beautifully charred adana, tender beef, fluffy rice, grilled vegetables, and enough flavour to make you briefly consider booking a flight to Istanbul instead of dessert. The lamb chops, meanwhile, were magnificent, charred on the outside, juicy within, and frankly more dependable than most governments.

And speaking of dependable: the hospitality was genuinely lovely. No pretentious speeches about elevated concepts or foam reductions. Just attentive, friendly service from people who seem genuinely pleased you’ve come to eat. A rare and beautiful thing in New York.

Portions are generous too. This is not one of those trendy Manhattan establishments where you spend $48 to leave hungry and emotionally confused. Here, you eat properly. You leave satisfied. Possibly with leftovers. Possibly with a new personality.

In short: Truva Cafe & Grill feels like the sort of place locals quietly hope tourists never discover. Comforting, authentic, welcoming, and gloriously unfussy.

A thoroughly excellent meal, and one that reminded me that grilled meat, warm bread, and good company remain humanity’s greatest achievements.
Absolutely loved this place! The food was fresh and delicious, the service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was so nice and welcoming. Everything came out quickly and tasted amazing. Definitely recommend TRUVA Cafe & Grill and I’ll be coming back again!
Some of the best Turkish cuisine in New York City! Staff is very attentive & accommodating. The food is so perfect & delicious. We got mix gyro plate, chicken adhana kabab, grape leaves & some phyllo dough stuffed with fresh mozzarella. We then took even more food to go. Everyone should try Truva at least once.
High priced food that is terrible. The food doesn’t taste seasoned at all. The salad doesn’t look nor taste fresh. And the chicken soup ALSO doesn’t have any taste, and is greasy. If you see this, I highly discourage you getting this as there are way more better options. Don’t come to this horrible restaurant.
Truva Cafe and Grill is one of my go to spots for Turkish food, I’ve been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The quality and consistency are always on point, and you can really taste the freshness in every dish.

I always order the lahmacun and the mixed grill, both are excellent every time. The meats are very tender, juicy, and full of flavor, cooked perfectly and seasoned just right.

The service is also great and the atmosphere is welcoming, which keeps me coming back. Definitely a must try if you’re looking for authentic Turkish food.
What an awesome experience! 🙌

This was my first time trying Turkish and mediterranean food.

The ambience: I loved the seats covered on blanket. According to my Turkish friend, this is how the seats at restaurants look in Turkey.

The food: a tasty experience. We started with a well seasoned falafel with its humus and other sauce. Really good.

If its your first time trying this type of food, I truly recommend the Mixed Grill (the one in the picture) as it has a combination of multiple meats including chicken and lamb. The rice also tasted amazing.

To end my dinner, I had a turkish coffee. That thing was strong and kicked like a horse but totally worth it.

Im definetely coming back again.
They scammed me with the billing. The server wasn’t honest to me about the prices of the food, although everything was mentioned on the menu, but I ordered two family platters, she didn’t mention to me that if you increase the size, the price will go up as well.
Came here last Saturday for Valentine’s Day sat right away clean area spacious food was delicious fresh the coffee was amazing. The baklava was amazing. The semolina cake was amazing. The bread was amazing. The calamari was the best First time here I’m coming back this Saturday with my daughter from Texas. That’s how good it is and I don’t know what these other people are talking about with a bad reviews obviously they have something wrong with them or they own another Turkish place in the area they try to give bad reviews cause it’s impossible to get this place. Any bad reviews I even gave tips to the cooks. That’s how good the food was Plus, I gave it 30% tip to the waiters great service!
Very disappointed. I paid $21 for a tiny portion — just a few small pieces of chicken over rice — and not even a side dish included. On top of that, the lentil soup was $12 for a small, tiny cup. The prices are extremely high for the low quality and small portions.

I hadn’t ordered from this place in 4 years and decided to give it another chance, but nothing has improved. I highly do NOT recommend this place
Update:
I’m honestly surprised by the way the owner is responding to customers. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, you’re insisting that items were included when they clearly were not. The lentil soup normally comes with bread, so there’s no need to act like it was something extra.

A professional business should take responsibility, not talk down to customers. If this is how you handle feedback, it explains why the quality and experience have gone down.

It’s much better to fix the issue and improve the service rather than replying to people in a rude, defensive way. A respectful attitude goes a long way in running a successful restaurant

Hi, sorry about your bad experience, but I guess you forgot to mention that you also get a salad, homemade bread, white sauce, and hot sauce on the side.
I know it’s very easy to give it one star review but please next time when you put a review for another place write everything clear that what you got
HORRIBLE! I HAVE BEEN IN NEW YORK MY ENTIRE LIFE AND THIS IS A CRAZY RIP OFF! if you want real and delicious Turkish food, there are so many better places that offer BETTER quantities, BETTER QUALITY, and simply BETTER FOOD! I paid $17 for 5 pieces of tiny shrimp and when we were asking why the price was high, the owner said “Well you don’t know what you’re eating!” Look, as a fellow New Yorker, I try to be as honest as I can for my community. I am sorry but you can get better quality and quantity in many other locations.

Hi i am sorry about your bad experience but as you know when you order the food you can see all the prices before you order. There is no force to place an order from us. People are ordering for good food and clean food. You dont have to order again. By the way as a New Yorker to your community you forgot to mention that you ate that shrimp FREE!!!
Thanks for the good review now you can sleep better
I can safely say I have finally found good lahmacun in Queens, maybe even the best I’ve had in New York. It’s a super casual place, nothing fancy, but perfect if you’re just looking for a quick and tasty bite. The food definitely hit the spot.

One thing I found a bit surprising was that the waitstaff didn’t speak any Turkish, which you don’t really expect at a Turkish spot.

We visited this Turkish restaurant for the first time because we were craving that type of food, and it did the job. The place has a simple, unpretentious atmosphere, and the food was decent—it satisfied our craving and left us full. What stood out the most was the service, which was genuinely good from start to finish. Overall, it’s a solid option if you’re looking for Turkish food without expecting anything too fancy.
First time visiting. We were a group of 4. Service was excellent. The food was delicious. From the lentil soup to the mix grill platter with different meats, the hummus and the french fries. They serve you bread as an appetizer which is tasty. They make a homemade lemonade which is very good. I would definitely come back to this place.
We celebrated our mom's birthday and had the best time ever. This was our first time eating Turkish food, and I cannot put into words how delicious and well presented all the food was. I almost dont want to post this review because I want to gatekeep this but my values are propelling me to share this wonderful restaurant with the rest of the world. Phenomenal. The food is so light yet so flavorful. I wish someone else's birthday was coming up so we could go again.
