My wife and I went to The Modern for her birthday, and it was a wonderful night. The restaurant is inside the Museum of Modern Art with a nice view of the sculpture garden. It felt elegant but cozy and perfect for just the two of us.
We tried many dishes. Her favorite was the famous “eggs on eggs on eggs”, its so creamy and delicious. The duck was cooked perfectly too. Every dish was beautiful and tasted great.
The service was excellent, friendly and helpful.. We had a relaxing time, enjoyed our meal, and made some lovely memories. It was a special night that made her feel loved.
I highly recommend The Modern for a birthday or any romantic celebration.

I absolutely love the tasting menu at The Modern. It is one of my favorite restaurants to visit while I am in the city. The staff always make it a memorable experience and they have great wine pairs for the tasting menu. Will be back again.
Hands down the best restaurant experience my wife and I have ever had.

We wanted to treat ourselves for our anniversary, and I had recently watched their Bon Appétit behind-the-scenes video. Their entire operation seemed so incredibly focused, meticulous, and inspiring that we knew we had to try it.

We started with the Iberico ham and the hiramasa tart, both incredible. Then came the chilled lobster, which was super fresh and refreshing, served with an amazing sauce that made me want to lick the plate clean. Every dish felt refined without being overly complicated.

The service was extraordinary. You can immediately tell the front-of-house team is operating at an extremely high level and is aware of everything happening in the room at all times. At one point, my wife stepped away to use the restroom just as they were about to serve the first course. Without saying a word or making anything awkward, the staff simply looped around a couple of times until she returned. The moment she sat down, they resumed service seamlessly without missing a beat. That level of awareness and professionalism really stood out to us.

Next came the rye bread, which was fresh and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, paired with delicious butter. Then we had the sea bass with crab, which was phenomenal and one of my favorite dishes of the night.

But the true star of the show for me was the lamb. My wife and I grill lamb racks often, and I genuinely had no idea this level of perfection existed. It was cooked flawlessly, and the sauce was absolutely incredible. If I was not in public, I probably would have been scraping the bone clean :)

Big shoutout to one of the staff members, Stephanie, who completely made our night. We were telling her how excited we were to finally visit after watching the Bon Appétit video, and she casually asked if we wanted a tour of the kitchen after dinner. Honestly, I thought she was joking at first. Then she came back after dessert and reminded us.

Even after paying the bill, I still thought maybe she was kidding, but then she walked over smiling and said, “Let’s go.”

My wife and I were completely geeked out. Seeing the kitchen in person was surreal. It was exactly like the video: super meticulous, orders being called out and repeated in unison, everyone moving with total precision and purpose. You could see the Omega clock, the Michelin stars on the wall, and just the overall culture of excellence behind everything they do. We were honestly in awe.

Thank you again, Stephanie. That experience meant so much to us.

Every time we visit a fine dining restaurant for a special occasion, I always wonder whether it will truly live up to the hype. Some completely miss the mark. Some are very good. But none have delivered on every aspect the way The Modern did.

This is officially our favorite restaurant in the world.
Our experience at the Modern was fantastic. We reached a bit early and were given a seat in the waiting area where I ordered a very well made Manhattan. As we settled in our dining area seats, the meal started with ham and fish small bites which were very flavorful. Next one was potentially my favorite course, lobster with raddish and lemon with some leaves. The flavor with sweetness of lobster combined with raddish and slight bitterness from the unpeeled lemon was great. The signature dish eggs*3 was next which was amazing as well. The fish course was okay and not by favorite but duck and lamb courses were both heavenly. Celery sorbet was different and I didn't like the flavor but thankfully, the dessert was great which rounded the abstractions menu nicely. I have to take away one-star from my review as we were there for celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary which was not acknowledged by the staff. During our visit, we were not even asked if we were even celebrating anything during our visit. Both more premium restaurants (Jungsik & EMP) and less premium restaurants (Adda, Dhamaka) acknowledge special occassions during visit. But overall, I loved the food and hope to come back again one day.
I had a wonderful dinner at Morden last night. While we encountered a small hiccup with one of our orders, I was incredibly impressed by how the management handled the situation. They addressed the incident with such grace, sincerity, and professionalism that it actually enhanced our overall experience rather than detracting from it. The servers are all so friendly and professional. It’s rare to find a team that cares this much about their guests' satisfaction.
As for the food—it was spectacular. If you visit, you absolutely cannot miss the seafood dishes; everything tasted exceptionally fresh and was seasoned to perfection. The lamb was another standout—tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly to medium-rare as requested.

Morden is a gem in the NYC dining scene, not just for the kitchen’s talent, but for the integrity of the people running the floor. I can’t wait to come back!
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC, and the best 2 Michelin started spot I've been to! Only gets better with time. The food is delicious and the service impeccable. A must visit for anyone who appreciates fine dining.
I recently had dinner at The Modern and had a wonderful experience. We didn’t have a reservation, but they were kind enough to accommodate us at the bar, which turned out to be a fantastic way to enjoy the evening.

The food was absolutely fabulous, but the service was even better. Our bartender, Danny, took exceptional care of us throughout the night. We enjoyed several dishes and a number of wines that he thoughtfully recommended, all of which were excellent.

Danny was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. He even suggested a few nearby restaurants for us to check out during our visit, which was a very thoughtful touch.

Overall, it was a truly memorable experience and a great example of outstanding hospitality. We will definitely be back.
The Modern @ 9W 53rd st. NY NY 10019
To the right of The Museum of Modern Art is the magnificent Michelin starred restaurant serving all the top shelf hits!
It doesn't have the most obvious entrance- nor is it the most beautiful doorway- that being said-the food is definitively on par with a Michelin rating!
I must say, my wife & I had a great evening sampling the exquisite tasting menu.
The drinks were delicious as well. We were seated in the main dining room, in a beautiful white table clothed booth- facing a large courtyard. The service was very good, but not excellent. I was expecting excellent. Our main server eventually disappeared but we were in great hands with Izzy & Vanessa. Our evening was topped off with a quick tour of the kitchen. The kitchen was in tip top shape- as Id expected. We always confer after an evening out and we both agreed we would definitively return & we do recommend The Modern.
Phenomenal service! I stopped by for my birthday lunch and was greeted so warmly from the moment I walked in. I still remember the conversations I had with two of the servers—that’s how welcoming they were. The food itself wasn’t especially memorable for me (I tend to enjoy a bit more adventure, and the menu played it safe), but the exceptional service is something I’ll remember for a long time.
I went to The Modern for lunch and did the tasting menu. The food itself was great, everything was thoughtfully done and delicious. I especially loved the “eggs on eggs on eggs” and the little tartlet served at the beginning. Overall, the food absolutely lived up to expectations.
That said, the service really fell short, which was disappointing given that this is a Michelin-star restaurant where service is a big part of the experience. We felt quite rushed throughout the meal. There was an event happening at MoMA, and we were one of the last lunch reservations before they closed for the rest of the day, which clearly affected the pacing.
Even if there’s an event afterward, guests are paying a lot for the full experience, and it shouldn’t feel like you’re being pushed out. It took away from what could’ve been a really special meal.
I do think the experience might be better at a time when there isn’t an event happening or for dinner, and I’d be open to coming back under different circumstances. The food was excellent, I just wish the service had matched it.
The food was interesting, but they had their own unique styles. Each carefully curated menus were great to experience and staffs were very well trained. I especially loved the menu eggs on eggs on eggs. Name sparked my interest and the presentation was stunning as well. Great place to visit.
First visit to The Modern, and it was an exceptional experience.
The food was refined and beautifully executed, the service was attentive and polished, and the atmosphere was perfect for a honeymoon—elegant yet warm, sophisticated without being stiff.

A special thank you to Chef Yoshua, who hosted us so graciously and made the evening truly memorable. The kitchen tour was a fantastic touch—eye-opening, inspiring, and honestly… wow.

Thoughtful hospitality, excellent cuisine, and a team that clearly takes pride in what they do.
A honeymoon dinner done right. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The service was great. Upscale atmosphere with the New York pace. I really enjoyed the mini crab appetizer, it gave you the punch of the ocean. I love how the chef made the light cream full of strong scent, of orange and bonito without any curdling. Seafood is so delightful and fresh, you can taste the sweetness of the fish. The mini pumpkin dumplings are so creamy and tasty with the fried spinach leaf, the sweet lobster with the super thin slices of lemon was delicious. The duck special is on the chef(thank you!) and its skin is so crispy the melt in your mouth meat! Five course menu is enough for me; it will be too much! Highly recommended you to go and find out your own! Or finding little excuses to celebrate there! It’s a lovely restaurant to dine in with or without a company (prefer to share with other friends and family though)!

P.s. I also saw an older lady with her family there, it remind me of my family growing up going out with grandparents every week to have a family meal together.
I’ve visited The Modern on multiple occasions, and my recent visit last week was no exception — consistently excellent from start to finish. The service is attentive, the food flawless, and the overall experience always reliable. Dishes are unique, creative, and a joy to enjoy. Truly one of my favorite Michelin-star restaurants in NYC for many years, and I look forward to many more!
Coming from Australia, we don't yet have any Michelin rated restaurants. Michelin hasn't visited??!! We do have many fine locally "Hatted" restaurants in both Australia and New Zealand.
A few I have sampled

While visiting NYC this October, wanted to take the opportunity to sample a few Michelin starred restaurants to compare

While the ambience and food are unlike the many fine dinning restaurants I am used to back in Australia / New Zealand, the Modern is a very good different. Local fare, local ingredients

The Caviar Hot Dogs. Playful, delectable and indulgent in a beautiful bite sized package. Only in America 😀

The Scollop dish with the beans - very American and showcases Americana wonderfully

The Hazelnut dessert with the layered chocolate flakes. Also so deliciously American

The wine pairings were also wonderful and did lift the flavour profiles of each dish

In all, had a thoroughly delightful and enjoyable evening here. Big shout out to my server Esteban and his colleagues who took great care to look after a solo diner like myself who can usually get lost in a crowd but not at The Modern 😁

I would definitely come back - next time I am in Manhattan again - and highly recommend The Modern for all especially if you are looking for a fun, fresh and contemporary dinning experience
