The Halal Guys

This was my first time back in a very long time and I was disappointed!!! The chicken was extremely under seasoned and the rice was on the hard side. The platter as a whole was served room temperature. Nothing on my platter was hot. A waste of 15 dollars. I won’t be back.

I miss the good old halal guys from ~10 years ago before they had physical storefronts in NYC and around the world, when portions were always the now-"large" size, and the price was $5. Still very solid, and a great portion for the money, but price has now gone up, and there's great competition out there now (at a similar price, I like shah's halal food elsewhere in the city, and there's of course halal carts at a lower price point)<br><br>I still go for the nostalgia and good food once in a while but it's not the gem it once was

The food is great, however when I was at the cashier and requesting for one extra hot sauce the cashier person who is the manager as he told me that he is didn’t give me one and say that it will cost 95 cent. As a longtime customer, this is my first time experiencing that which was very disappointing because this action was being greedy and it was very very disappointing. Long story short, money is not the problem, paying is not a problem, but being greedy is the issue. Every time I come to this place I always show support and give tips to show the kindness and being thankful and that’s why the money is not the issue to me. Respect and kindness is everything especially when dealing with customers. One piece of hot sauce was more important to the managers eyes than the customer. All other employees in this place are very very very respectful and I really thank them for their service and respect toward the customers. When I wrote this message I was not trying to complain but I was expressing my feeling and how much this experience bothers me from that manager. I was very very disappointing today.

Stopped by The Halal Guys and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious as always, and the portions are generous—definitely enough to get you full.<br><br>The sauce is a standout (as always), super flavorful and really brings everything together. There’s also a decent amount of seating space, which makes it easy to enjoy your meal without feeling cramped.<br><br>Always a reliable spot when you’re craving something filling and tasty!

Stopped by for lunch today and ordered the regular platter with all the toppings. The place was clean and surprisingly empty, I was the only customer at the time, which made the experience calm and quick.<br><br>I was asked if I wanted sauce. I said yes. While I briefly looked around the shop behind me, I turned back to find the entire surface of the platter completely covered in sauce, to the point where I couldn’t even see the food anymore. When I reacted, the staff proudly said, “that’s the normal amount of sauce,” which honestly made me laugh.<br><br>Then came the follow-up question: BBQ and hot sauce? Of course I said yes. No one should ever refuse the original sauces , that part is sacred.<br><br>Overall, the meal was tasty and satisfying. That said, at $14, it felt a bit pricey compared to the old halal cart nights on 56th Street that used to run around $7. Times have definitely changed.<br><br>Still, solid flavor, clean spot, and a very… generous hand with the sauce.

Outdoor food cart right on the corner. The original logo with the gold seal is the best. The guy was generous on the white sauce and everything we needed. We got the 2 meat platter (beef and chicken)

My husband and I enjoy both love the falafel and chicken plates. They are quite the treats...though we enjoy them without the rice. BLESSINGS 💌🌟

There are probably a thousand halal carts in NYC and I can promise you that 90% of them serve better food in terms of taste, value and number of calories. This place is over hyped.<br><br>The rice is meh, the meat is meh and the sauces lack flavor. The hot sauce is too hot, without flavor or taste. The barbecue sauce doesn’t suit the food and the white sauce, well the white sauce is incredibly high in calorie count! Kind of defeats the purpose if one is trying to eat a somewhat healthy gluten free meal with grilled meats, rice and salad!<br><br>And they nickel and dime you. Want olives? 60c. Want jalapeños? 60c. Want hummus? $1.50.<br><br>Total - $18 and change.<br><br>The combo tray that almost every cart guy offers in Times Square is $12 and has better taste and is better value for money.

This is a small restaurant, not the push-cart style. We chose this shop because we wanted to eat in. But honestly I think the push-cart Halal Guys taste much better with the lil charred taste and smells better. Will defo try the other pushcart stores next time!<br><br>Staff was very accomodating and friendly. Queued to order - choose your veg, meat and if you’d like I ordered the small size chicken over rice with their signature white sauce (lots of it, it’s a must!!). They are famous for their spicy sauce, according to them it is extremely spicy, so add carefully!<br><br>The shop has about 8 seats available and were easily filled up. Luckily for us, someone left just when we finish ordering.

I recently visited this location.<br>I love the fact that its so bright inside and very clean. When i walked in, i went directly towards the back to order my food. I asked for a beef bowl to go. I guess the guy didnt hear me because he gave me chicken. I didn't complain and just took it.<br><br>The guy at the register was really nice. He told me a few times that i could go back and have the guy remake my plate. I didnt bother to because 1. It was already made and 2. I didnt mind having the chicken. The food was really good. I love being able to have packets of white sauce and hot sauce. It is alot of food so I always have left overs to reheat so having the extra sauce is amazing.<br><br>The chicken plate came with yellow rice, tomatoes, lettuce and pita bread. I had them add white sauce on top.<br><br>Overall i cant wait to return. I definitely want to return soon and try the beef.

I used to come here late night when i lived around the neighborhood. The lady was so nice, really generous giving me so many of the white sauce.<br>My go-to menu was the Combo Platter, sometimes I ordered the Falafel Sandwich gyro. The portion is huge!

Just as good as the original street carts! This place has all the food premade, and while the price is expensive, the quantity is excellent! The falafels are soft and tasty, and the red sauce they put is spicy. Ask for a little extra red and white sauce for that extra flavor bomb!
