I had a birthday dinner with 35 guests. We had a blast. We had a private room where we were served family style. The service was awesome with plenty servers. The food was so flavorful and delicious. Shout out to our host Ramone and Tisha the manager for their professional and above board service. Thank you soo much for your great service. I'd like to acknowledge to the professionalism of the servers they did a wonderful job of managing 36 guests. Overall a 10/10 experience.

I honestly have to say that my overall experience at this restaurant has been disappointing, and this was actually the second time I’ve had a bad experience here. I arrived about 45 minutes after placing my order, and my meal was still not ready. When I tried asking for an update on the food, I felt ignored by most of the staff.

However, one cashier, who I believe is named Tishauna, completely changed the situation for me with her professionalism and attitude. She was very respectful, considerate, and helpful throughout the interaction. She took the time to explain that there was a delay in the kitchen, apologized sincerely for the long wait, and reassured me that it was not intentional.

What stood out the most was how understanding she was of my frustration. Instead of dismissing me, she listened, communicated properly, and made sure I eventually received my meal. This is actually the second time I’ve had a poor experience at the restaurant, and both times Tishauna was the person who handled the situation professionally and treated me with respect, despite the fast paced environment.

She was awesome, and I really think she deserves recognition for her excellent customer service.
I ordered breakfast from the door which clearly states it’s served with boiled provisions and FRIED dumpling. In the side selection I selected dumpling only as there was no option for mixed and put in the notes boiled provisions and fried dumpling NO BOIL dumpling. When my food arrived it was all boiled dumpling. Each person I spoke to was not very understanding and rude. I was eventually transferred to the manager Joel who was also not helpful . He stated they can’t help me and they aren’t going to refund anything because that’s what I ordered even after I explained to multiple people that the description on their menu says fried dumpling and I even put it in the notes . He insists that dumpling means boil and if it were fried it would specify fried 🤣 dumpling means dumpling . I order from the door so often and walk in and order pans of food and plates on a weekly basis. The door even catered my mother’s wedding so for them to lose a loyal customer over 1 plate they got wrong is insane . I would never spend back my money here again.
Food is tasty. However, be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes for your order! The staff is somewhat oblivious to the needs of the customers and spend a lot of time having their personal discussions instead of attending to the customers. Do not order soup after lunch time, you will get gravy instead of the soup you ordered. There is no meat, unacceptable. I am a repeat customer, but no more. Sorry do better.
Food was amazing. I ordered the jerk steak and it came with rice and peas and veg. It was very good! The jerk wings were also fire too. Got black cake for desert amd it was one of the best I've ever had. Also, my guest ordered the escovitch chicken stripe and I tasted it. It was so good with the onions and sauce. This was my third time dining here and it was the best one amazingly. The first two were very good but this one was out of this world! Shout out to the chef and to our waiter, Ramone.
Thank you! Our birthday club had an awesome time dining at your restaurant. The food was good. The staff, extremely warmed and welcoming. The atmosphere was wholesome. Overall it was a wonderful experience. If any of you are ever in the Bronx, we will be happy to have you at our church. Trinity Faith Pentecostal @ 1109 Burke Ave ❤️🥰
I’ve been going here for years the last 4 times I ordered Ackee & Saltfish they giving out a spoon now and straight Ackee no fish and I keep giving yall the benefit of doubt 🤦🏾♂️
The ambience and the newly renovations is quite fascinating. I find it very cultural towards the Caribbean. The food is mainly sourced from Jamaica, but the energy and the vibe is fascinating. The staff is great, the experience when it comes onto your birthday is magnificent. I highly recommend.
But please to remember if it’s a weekend it’s gonna be crowded so make a reservation beforehand and be there on time and remember you can always call and ask questions to be better assist. Thank you. 😁
The take out section has a very very discourteous female worker she was extremely rude considering we don’t over $100 to arrive home and realized she forgot an order. Crab cakes look like 2 deflated golf balls only received 2 for $18, the salmon has absolutely no taste what so ever the Mac n cheese is nothing more than kraft boxed macaroni thrown in an oven yet tasteless. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone especially due to the discourteous services received.
I want to say I am not surprised about the professionalism of this restaurant not to mention the food as always, was amazing. My family and I reserved a room for my mom's surprised 80th Birthday!! The door made sure to contact us to make sure what we wanted and needed was in place all the way up to the sometime before the B-day party started. We had a great server, by the name of Simone! She was very alert to what we needed while we dined. Overall my mom loved everything, especially the food, she had brown stew Snapper, I had the I-tal Stew, because I am vegetarian and it was so good and filling. The rest of guest had various dishes varying from chicken fingers, oxtail, curry chicken, escovitch fish and chicken, different sides and etc.,. Then we ordered their black cake with heavy rum, which was delicious! Overall everything went extremely well. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend.
I had an absolutely incredible meal here! The menu is so impressive—the flavors are diverse, bold, and unique. Every dish we tried offered a wonderful blend of tastes that you just don't find everywhere.
Beyond the food, the service was truly fabulous. We had the pleasure of being served by Dave, and I can honestly say he is the best waiter I’ve ever had. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the entire evening feel special. If you eat here, definitely ask for his section! We will be back very soon.
The time of day was perfect when I went. Not many diners, drinks were good and the food wasn't too bad. They had great music and the staff were friendly and attentive. The place can do with a little upliftment in the decor dept as it looks very dated... Like late 90s dated 😬

11/17/25 - I went back and tried the curry shrimp and piña colada. 😍🤤 So good!!
Thank you, Michelle, for your services. You did a wonderful job 👏 and Michelle "checks" on us were on point. I was a bit skeptical in dining in the Queens area, but we gave it a shot. The service was excellent. I'm a bit skeptical about the parking... the church parking lot was offered to me to park there, and I was afraid to park. The host said they would take full responsibility for me parking there, I would not recommend parking at church if you are not a regular guest there. Be very cautious. It does have a warning sign. Read carefully that could be on you. Everything was acceptional, except the part where I'm not sure who failed to understand, when a guest said to the server at taking main course order, I'll take my dinner to go but please put my goat curry in separate container from my rice, because I want eat my peas and rice later, and I want the gravy to go with my white rice I have at home, I'm sure it was not my server, even though she was very busy everything was 👉 on point 👈 from her end. I only found out when I got home, I was very disappointed "see pics" I wished some people would listen to the requests. That is the reason for the 4 star. My server did her part in putting my order in, I told her we were not in a rush and fire our meals when we are ready. Everything is enjoyable, not too much salt or spices, I would possibly give it another shot sometimes in the near future only because the manager came and checked on us... I appreciate all the services. Some of the servers need to smile a little bit more. It will be a lot more inviting. Please don't be too hard on your employees, thanks to everyone who serves us, kudos kiddos 👏
This is my second time dining at the Door for dinner. This is a nice place to celebrate an anniversary. The food was good. I had the crab cakes for appetizers, brown stew chicken for the main course, and strawberry cheesecake for dessert. I enjoyed everything. The oxtail is good. I haven't tried any of the other drinks, but the pina colada is a great choice. Excellent service.
Regrettably, the recent dining experience at this establishment fell short of expectations. My order of Rasta pasta, which was ostensibly penne à la vodka, was unfortunately misrepresented. The pasta resembled penne, but it was accompanied by a pronounced taste of raw vegetables, including broccoli and cauliflower. My son’s curry goat was disappointingly small, with the goat meat being excessively chopped. My mother’s order of oxtails was also unsatisfactory, as they were not seasoned and the cabbage was neither cooked nor seasoned. The rundown fish, typically a curry and coconut blend, was instead flavored like an entire can of Carnation milk.
It is unfortunate that this restaurant has lost its quality, despite the excellent in-person customer service. However, the experience was marred by a rushed and unprofessional phone order process.
As a result, I will refrain from patronizing this restaurant in the near future. I am also considering seeking a refund for my recent order.
