Even though it was very busy, we were sat at a two top very quickly! We received friendly and informative service from Cesar. First time here, will definitely be returning to try more of the menu.

Response from the owner

We're glad your first visit was a smooth one and that Cesar helped guide the way with great recommendations and friendly service. Sounds like Blue Dog made a solid first impression. Now comes the important part: working your way through the rest of the menu. We'll see you back for the research.

The absolute cutest place! Stumbled upon the Blue Dog and it was the absolute best service and best food. Organic food options and well poured cocktails, need I say more? The staff was adorable, friendly, and so attentive. I will forever recommend and return!

Response from the owner

Looks like you picked a winning combination, and Cesar made sure the experience was just as memorable as the meal. We'll pass along the love—and try not to let him get too comfortable with all these rave reviews.

First of all, the food and the drinks are exceptional. Have had many different things and everything was 10/10. We have had Agustin as our server a couple times and his service is fantastic. His attention to detail, checking in on us, and overall demeanor is truly incredible. Not to mention the owner Steven who is the sweetest man alive and so amazing to talk to. I literally love this staff so much and will continue to return over and over again. ✨✨✨ would recommend to everyone

Response from the owner

We’re thrilled you’ve been loving the food and drinks across the board (a consistent 10/10 is what we’re always chasing). Agustin will be especially happy to hear your shoutout—his attention to detail and care really set the tone for the experience.

And Steven will definitely appreciate the love as well… though we’ll remind him he still has to live up to “sweetest man alive” status 😄

The food and the service were the highlights of our dining experience. We were seated immediately and our server gave us water and took our order right away. Carlos was very friendly and made sure that we were satisfied with everything. All the staff worked together well and we felt cared for. We ordered the beet salad and the Bronzino dish. We especially enjoyed the celeriac. We topped our dinner off with the Brownie Sunday, churros and cappuccino! Overall I would highly recommend this hidden gem in the theater district.

Response from the owner

Carlos is going to love this review. Sounds like the team had their Broadway timing down—quick seating, attentive service, and a smooth experience from start to finish.

The beet salad, branzino, brownie sundae, churros, and cappuccino make for quite the lineup, and we’re especially happy to see the celeriac get some love. Thanks for calling us a hidden gem—we’ll keep trying to earn that title. 🍴✨

Went for brunch - short 5m wait on a Saturday at noon, not bad at all.

One of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. Fries were good. Espresso martinis 10/10.

The burger was good but the onions were too thick I ended up taking most off which left it dry it needed more sauce or something but the meat itself was 10/10 I would just try a different one.

The space is SMALL. Like small even for Manhattan. People were constantly bumping into our chairs or asking to scoot by. It’s like one big communal table in the middle of the room. Only downside.

Response from the owner

Thank you for joining us for brunch—and for such thoughtful feedback. A 5-minute wait on a Saturday is always a good start, and we’re glad the chicken sandwich and espresso martinis lived up to the hype.

We appreciate the note on the burger as well—that’s the kind of detail we take seriously. We’ll revisit the balance to make sure every bite delivers.

As for the space, it’s definitely on the cozier side (a little NYC charm), though we understand it can feel tight during peak hours.

We’re glad you joined us and hope to have you back again soon—there’s always something new to try!

Excellent brunch spot — we had the avocado tartines (salmon and caprese) and a crunchy French toast. High‑quality food. Expect to spend about $25–$28 per person, plus drinks, tax and tip. Highly recommended.

Response from the owner

We’re glad the avocado tartines and crunchy French toast hit the mark—those are exactly the kind of brunch staples we take pride in. Hearing that the quality stood out means a lot to the team.

Thanks as well for the thoughtful breakdown and recommendation. In a city with endless brunch options, we’re happy to be one you’d come back to. Hope to see you again soon.

We had a great experience at the Blue Dog Cookhouse and Bar for brunch! Augustine took great care of us! He was friendly, fast, and efficient at his job. Definitely a keeper! The owner Steve was so friendly and made us feel like family, not to mention, the food was delectable. The pumpkin stuffed french toast was melt in your mouth! Definitely recommend for a great meal, beautiful ambience, and friendly service while in NYC!

Response from the owner

Augustine showing up with that mix of friendly, fast, and dialed-in service is exactly what he does best, and he’ll love hearing the shoutout. And Steve being in the mix and making you feel like family—that’s the kind of NYC hospitality we’re always aiming for.

Also… that pumpkin stuffed French toast getting a “melt in your mouth” mention says it all.

Really glad the whole experience landed for you—food, ambience, and service. Hope to see you again next time you’re in the city.

Solid Midtown brunch spot. The caprese toast was fresh and light, and the burger was juicy with perfectly caramelized onions. Relaxed vibe, good for families.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating to my group of five. We had to wait on some of our group but were assured that we’d be seats and we in fact were seated fast.

The food was delicious and the portions were perfect. I had the crab cake Benedict and enjoyed every bite. The table also had a crispy French toast to share!

So I’m kinda mixed on feelings with this place. The staff was very nice. Had no issues with them. The food itself was good. Both of my coffees were not hot, even after asking for the next one to be hot, it was warm at best. The area is VERY small. Almost uncomfortably small. You’re sitting on top of each other and the party next to you in the corner. It’s def not cheap, but it’s NYC lol . Also, don’t plan on paying with a credit card, their “system is down” and you have to pay cash or Venmo some person at the restaurant. Overall, it was a nice brunch but I honestly don’t think I’ll be returning 😔

This place is such a hidden gem and has me wishing we could eat there everyday! We went twice while visiting NYC for Christmas. Once for dinner & once for breakfast. Everything was fabulous- from the service, the atmosphere, cocktails and of course the food. I am still dreaming of the short rib burger!! 10/10 highly recommend. We will definitely be back when we are back in the area.

Beautiful cozy restaurant close to Times Square. We got brunch and the food was excellent, honestly best eggs Benedict’s I’ve ever had. Don’t skip the pancakes. We got the cinnamon apple ones and they didn’t disappoint. The salted caramel coffee was great too. Highly recommend it!

I went to Blue Dog NYC for an early dinner, and the experience was surprisingly warm and satisfying. One of the first things people ask is “Is Blue Dog good for dinner or mainly brunch?” —and honestly, their dinner options were just as solid as their daytime menu. The ambience was cozy and inviting, with a relaxed atmosphere that made it easy to unwind.

Another common question is “Do you need reservations?” —and while they take walk-ins, having a reservation definitely helps during busy hours. The service was attentive and friendly, with staff who checked in often and made sure everything was running smoothly.

People also ask “How long does the food take?” —and in my experience, the dishes came out quickly and consistently. The food itself was flavorful, fresh, and well-prepared, especially the classic comfort dishes they’re known for. “Are the portions good?” —yes, generous without being overwhelming.

Another big FAQ is “Is it good for groups?” —it works, but it’s especially comfortable for small parties or casual meals. Overall, Blue Dog delivered great service, delicious food, a welcoming vibe, and a smooth early-dinner experience.

We gave our breakfast a 10/10. The Raspberry Pancakes and S'more Pancakes were to die for! The crab cakes were also delicious but in our opinion could have used a nice dipping sauce. Great vibrant atmosphere, with friendly and attentive staff. Overall, a great way to start the day (once you can find the entrance… we had to walk around a few times). Highly recommend.

Blue Dog Cookhouse is a cozy gem on W. 50th St. that serves a nice varied menu of pastas, seafood, burgers and also brunch every day. We went for dinner and Travis, the manager, was very welcoming while seating us. Our drinks were well-crafted and timely, and the chicken dumplings appetizer was fantastic - great flavor and beautifully presented. The seared Atlantic salmon with citrus infusion and quinoa was deliciously tangy; the pan seared thyme chicken was very juicy and served with sauteed spinach and mashed potatoes; the crusted Ahi tuna with balsamic glaze was as excellent as I'd hoped and was paired well with wasabi mashed potatoes. A side of hand-cut fries was also very well made and devoured by the table. I'm onlky sorry I didn't take photos of the meal! Our server Darwin kept the meal moving nicely, a feat in the close quarters there. We suggest reservations, especially if you're going to the nearby New World Theater. The Blue Dog is definitely worth a visit!
