Probably the best vegetarian burger I have tried in NYC. The juiciest, innovative, crispy burgers they have are to die for. Especially their thick and crunchy fries are amazing. I got the tofu burger while my girlfriend got the yuba burger. The yuba burger is not traditional bun and has brocolini but it was amazing. I will definitely come again with its nice atmosphere and diner-esque. It also has some vintage Japanese trinkets which are cool. Want to come again and try the superiority original burger and salad.

Badass food in a badass environment. A little punk for my tastes, but the place is fun, approachable, and relaxed. Staff were helpful, but hands-off in a way that made our lunch laid back in a good way. Service was definitely prompt without feeling rushed. The food was top notch. Everyone in my group raved about the gelato, and the fries; but, the sandwiches aren't to be slept on. The burger, tofu, and collard sands were all great. One of my friends genuinely couldn't believe that the entire menu was vegetarian when we told him. It kinda blew his mind that his burger was meatless.

I can see why so many people in the food industry speak so highly about this place: it's a fun environment to grab a great bite after a long day.
The superiority burger was very tasty, and the desserts were absolutely spectacular and the stars of the night!! However, the broccoli dish was just too spicy and came out ice cold which was a shame. Along with that, the waiters “kicked us out” as soon as we got the bill because “we were on our phones”, when we were just trying to calculate how much we need to pay per person. We would’ve loved to sit for a second after the meal as we had a reservation so we should be able to enjoy our table for the full hour and a half but we were asked to leave for this reason and given attitude by staff which ruined the dinner experience. It was a shame because especially after the dessert it was such a pleasant dinner that got ruined.
Almost never misses. Love the integration with local and seasonal produce. Phenomenal desserts. Unlike other nyc institutions with staid menus and no variation you can have different food every time or rely on old favorites. Underrated for sure
One of my favorite places to go for a bite after a show at Night Club 101! The burger is great (love that the fries are included!) and the date cake with labne ice cream was top ten things I've ever put in my mouth. Love the staff and the space :)
This spot used to be a diner and Superiority Burger totally carries the legacy forward with the paper daily specials and slices of pearl pie in the refrigerated case.

That said, the menu here is unlike any restaurant anywhere. Honestly we didn’t even really know what we were ordering but the side of cabbage, fries, yuba sandwich and panelle were mind-blowing. Super wild flavors. Service was phenomenal.

I’m hooked. The pearl pie with fresh passion fruit was amazing.
This place is magic - the founder brings his eclectic taste to create something truly special.

The Superiority Burger (the namesake!) is pure perfection. The tanginess from the pickles, the soft yet crunchy patty… every bite feels special, like I’m blessed or something. And when I’m in the mood to cheat, I’ll pair it with the fries — also perfection. Everything here tastes so fresh and high-quality.

Burnt Broccoli - again, perfection. It comes with a sauce on the side that’s such a nice surprise, and I go every week and NEVER get bored.

The Date Shake… who would’ve thought it’d be so interesting? The founder always sneaks in elements that elevate the flavor profile - the surprise this time is the orange zest.

Their specials are always exceptional and super creative. I guarantee you won’t see anything like them anywhere else.

And the service - truly great. I’ve seen the same staff for years, which brings a sense of community and continuity that’s rare in the city these days.

So yes… I come here all the time, and I’m never bored! Oh yes it is worth the hype btw!
We went early on a Sunday and there was no wait at all. I loved the vibe and the old photos on the wall...in particular, a photo of Dojo on St Marks which brought back a lot of memories...

Service was laid-back, friendly and quick.

On to the food...three in my party got the Superiority Burger with fries in three different ways. It was all spot-on and after tasting it, it is a strong vegetarian burger. But forget that and go for the TFT - a fried tofu sandwich which was simply outstanding. The fries are some of the absolute best I've had in NYC.

We also had a side of burnt broccoli which was ok, but nothing too special. Go for the TFT, fries and the vibe.
Vegan restaurant by Tompkins park. The halumi and pumpkin starter was amazing. I had the Yube sandwich, wouldn’t recommend. Their house burger was definitely a better choice.

Good if you’re looking for a vegan or vegetarian option. On the expensive side, and there’s definitely better places in the area.

I’d go back but only for the burger.
I’ve been meaning to try this place and really wanted to like it because a vegetarian burger joint is what this world needs more of. The Superiority seemed like the right place to start. It was OK, but it did not live up to its name. It was surprisingly small and the toppings were also minimally doled out. For $22 (including fries that were average) I really expected a hearty and tasty veggie burger (like what 5 Napkin offers). Overall, it was a lot of money for something that was not substantial and unremarkable. But people clearly like this place on a Monday evening, it was about 75% full. Maybe I would’ve done better trying something else on the menu, like the tofu sandwich.
From the outside you would not imagine how cute and comfy it is inside! The vegetarian burger was delicious and filled us properly. The waiters were really nice and offered us a taste of ice cream when we told them we were from Italy! Highly recommended!!
The food is really interesting and unique here. I didn’t realize it was vegetarian but their main burger really hit the spot. They also have some really cool side dishes as well & I really appreciate their rotating specials. I highly recommend the date milkshake!

Some of the food feels a bit overpriced for the quality. Especially the fact that everything costs upwards of $20, even sides and desserts. It is also a very loud environment & I can barely hear my friends.
One of the best vegan sit down restaurants in the city. The atmosphere hits as a classic burger joint but, well, vegetarian. Most of the dishes can be made vegan on request, so this is a standout for vegans looking for a burger fix.

I’m honestly surprised I haven’t heard of this place before because every dish was superb. We only came because we were seeing a show nearby and my partner saw this place recently in the NYTimes.

We got two mains and one appetizer, all of which we made vegan:

Superiority Burger
Collard Greens Sandwich - my personal favorite. Unique taste; mixed texture; perfect size
Roasted White Sweet Potato

I’ll definitely have to come back to try the other two sandwiches on the menu as well as some of the appetizers that stood out but didn’t make the cut for this visit, namely the Sweet and Sour Pink Beets and the Spicy Lentils and Cornbread.
Superiority Burger is a memorable, well decorated vegetarian spot- well worth going once, though I’m not in a rush to come back.

The ambiance inside is so cool, the bathrooms have a nice vibe and I like the retro setting. The service was great.

The original superiority burger was my personal favorite, it had a meatiness though the bun got soggy pretty quickly. The pickles and sauce were good. It came with nice crispy fries.

The tofu fried tofu sandwich was not the best, the fried exterior was crispy but the tofu part was underwhelming and lacking flavor. It needs some other sauce or taste in addition to the coleslaw in my opinion.

The appetizers here look great, and the tomato salad (special for the day) was good, though had too many breadcrumbs for my liking.

If I do eventually come back id like to try more appetizers, drinks, or desserts here.
Beautiful low-lit atmosphere and fantastic food. The zucchini tomato special was incredibly flavorful and my omnivore brother enjoyed the vegetarian burger he had — we only wished the portions were a little bigger. Super friendly staff and great menu design. Definitely want to stop back.
