Lines are ridiculously slow in both self checkout and at the register. On a good day there might not be so many ppl.<br>I had seen plenty of expired items still on the shelves.<br>The ppl at the self checkout are much more welcoming then those at the cash registers btw

The best time to goes is in the mornings. Quiet, east to navigate the aisles without all the loud customers. A perfect in and out experience

Stop & Shop Pickup Service Complaint<br><br>I am disappointed with the pickup service. Orders are frequently not ready at the scheduled time, which causes unnecessary delays.<br><br>In addition, some staff members are not polite when interacting with customers. Good customer service is very important, especially for a pickup service where communication is key.<br><br>Please work on improving the punctuality of pickup orders and ensure that employees treat customers with courtesy and respect.<br><br>Thank you

I entered the store around 9:25 PM and was checking out around 9:45–9:50 PM. At self-checkout I asked the attendant about signing up for a store card and was told to go to the front registers — however none were open. Other employees then sent me back to self-checkout.<br><br>While walking back I overheard the manager say “she can’t be serious,” which was inappropriate and uncomfortable.<br><br>I completed my purchase at exactly 10:00 PM. While bagging fragile items, three employees stood behind me watching and I was told they were trying to go home and that I should pack outside. I understand closing procedures, but customers who enter before closing should not be rushed or made to feel like a problem.<br><br>This interaction felt dismissive and poorly handled. I hope management reviews closing-time customer service expectations with staff.

I have always had great experiences with staff and in store purchases. My issue and the reason for 3 stars is the parking lot is always a shopping cart warzone. Patrons never return their carts and entering the parking lot is a hazard. See the images of seven shopping carts left in front of the parking lot entrance on the beach 69th entrance. It would be ideal if this issue can be addressed where a staff member returns the carts to safe location.

Atrocious grocer. Had to return rotten meat. Prepare to wait 30-40 mins just to pay with only one or sometimes two registers open. Staff are friendly but the with two stop and shops in Rockaway neither are a good choice. This peninsula needs a trader joes

Disgusting store! Don't shop here unless you like feeling like you need to shower after leaving. It's dirty, hardly ever stocked, management was incredibly disrespectful to an LGBTQ friend of mine, rats, roaches, black mold, weird stuff that can't be identified on products. I'm telling you all now don't trust those reviews that make this place appear clean because it's definitely not. Anybody claiming it's clean makes me wonder if they're actually clean people themselves because it's not great in their.<br><br>Update: Dec 24 2025<br>The store is STILL disgusting, a safety hazard, barely stocked, old products, lazy staff. At this point Everytime I go in there I'm going to take photos and videos and upload them here until someone higher up visits this store to see how nasty it is. I've emailed Stop & Shop and spoke with someone years ago who assured me they would look into it and visit and never did clearly years later. I'm going to continue making an issue of this because customers deserve better. This is ridiculous and I'll keep complaining until Stop & Shop ACTUALLY does something about this terrible store.<br><br>Update Jan 1,2026: Used condom in the parking lot as you leave the store, Came in to get some Oreos and couldn't buy them because someone stocked them on the shelf a week ago and still hasn't inputed it into the system for purchasing after a week of just sitting there. Store was dirty as usual, seafood department cooler section hasn't been stocked in over a week.

Staff does a great job but the self-checkout machines are broken way too often, which causes long waits for us because they don't pay staff to work checkout counters anymore. Gotta pay people or get your machines working -- that's the choice, right? If you don't do either one you are not a serious company.<br><br>Also the parking lot is such a silly place to be, 5-6 cars parked in the fire lane at all times because they're too lazy to walk 20 feet from a parking space. Stop & Shop needs to clear this out, every time I go it's a near accident dodging double parked cars. Guess they don't mind the occasional lawsuit

I prefer this Stop and Shop over the one in belle harbor. It has more variety and is overall better. BUT IT HAS A MAJOR PROBLEM, the carts have a limit on how far they can go and they do not go to your car. So with a baby, I had to leave my cart and groceries then make multiple trips to carry the groceries back to the car.

In this particular 69 Arverne Street, this Stop and Shop supermarket is so professionally beautiful, clean, & really huge! Almost everything in there is cheap, fresh, & of course super cheap if you have one of those club cards like I do!👍🏾😉 And your also very lucky if you have coupons on you too!😃 I didn't really plan on buying so much stuff, because my shopping bags🛍️ were quite heavy. 🪨 I've thought of going straight home, because I really was planning on heading straight to the beach, ⛱️🏖️ which was just a block away, across the street. Plus, the weather was so beautifu,l but hot 🥵 and humid. The perfect beach weather, even though it was on the second day of school!🏫 🎒 I am considering going back out there for my two destinations, but the next time I'll take the city buses, instead of the trains which is how I got there & left the same way. Oh well!🤷🏾)👍🏾😄😌💙🤍

3 stars are mostly for the staff members I have encountered who are very kind and helpful. However the overall store needs a lot of help, they’ve let the store run down to the point where it’s so annoying to shop here. The store needs to be renovated on the inside, no doubt.<br><br>The fruit and veg selection isn’t the best, the hygiene isle is sparsely stocked and they don’t have some of the trending products that other supermarkets have. This supermarket has so much potential considering its location and the population. Stop and shop have really taken advantage of the fact that people don’t really have an immediate choice of where to shop.<br><br>The self checkout is impossible, the machines are old and inaccurate and there are never enough cashiers at the tills so the line ends up being so long.

This store has drastically declined over the years,so sad. This store is filthy and beyond excuse. I’ve personally worked in a grocery store stocking and what I witness this company allow is atrocious. They claimed to have recently renovated the store after multiple negative reviews yet in a couple months time the store has deteriorated to a place you’d never know. There are leaky pipes, bloated meat, spoiled and clearly expired merchandise all over the store the foul odors, constant mold growing over top the “fresh produce” 🤢🤢🤢🤮. Bird and mice infestations, lack of product availability, false advertising, price fluctuations that drastically increase when shopping via online apps such as instacart, the visible built up crud on every end cap cart floor and display throughout the store. Placing produce with raw meat items. This is all just before we get to the customer service. The racial profiling, blatant disrespect consistent micro aggressions, misgendering customers making the stance towards the LGBT guests very clear from selective staff particularly Linda. Honorable mention to the lack of safety and security, blatantly disregarding the frequent drug users who congregate where the dirty shopping carts are stored. The poorly constructed parking lot that is highly unrecommended to travel through with small children due to the numerous blind spots the drives encounter simply driving to navigate parking. Why is this location like that? Can we do something to make it worth the hundreds of thousands of dollars I and my family spend (I have a rewards account that confirms the above statement 🤑) please and thanks.

We cant expect much from employees in these supermarkets but what employers should expect is for employees to not abandon their duties to go off to have a chit chat with another employee on the other side of the store especially if you are stationed in produce. On July 26th, 2023 @ 7:13 am the hispanic woman who was responsible for cleaning the produce section abandoned her duties as can be seen in these photos. I seen her talking to the male hispanic employee on the other side of the store which is extremely unprofessional. If you want to chat go chat on your break or in passing but not 13 minutes after the store opens. Clearly she does not care about her job so she should quit and or stop and shop should fire her or hold her accountability for her actions and lack of. I gave two stars because of the prices ad the cleanliness for the rest of the store and conduct for rest of employees which is alright and bearable!!!

This is the closest supermarket to me and I have to say the 3 stars are for the supermarket being clean no matter what time I go and the friendliness I get from certain staff each time they see me because I’m there so frequent. Prices could be a bit cheaper I do spend $100 with only 2 bags of groceries and I wish that the produce section was better.
