Spot Dessert Bar has been on my list for a while and is a relatively small space down a staircase, don’t miss it! We went in a Saturday afternoon so it was pretty crowded, but were able to be seated immediately! The menu is focused on a few key dessert items, and there are many different combinations you can make. We got the matcha lava cake to share between 2 people, which I’d recommend since it can get heavy. The lava cake itself was so decadent, the dark chocolate was super rich and it was so satisfying to see the melting chocolate ooze out! It tastes really wonderful with the matcha ice cream, and is certainly a great flavor profile. I’d definitely recommend for dessert lovers!
The food here was great. Me and my partner got the Cookie Camp and Harvest(the dirt one lol). The cookie camp was very rich and filling with lots of chocolate and cookie dough. The Harvest was a nice mix of chocolate fruit and a great textural experience. It's an accessible introduction to molecular gastronomy. The portions looks small but trust me they are FILLING.

Service was nice as well and I liked how kewl the place was. I would definitely come back here!
If your inner voice is whispering “I deserve something wildly indulgent and slightly irresponsible tonight”… just go to Spot Dessert Bar and call it a day.

This place is tucked away in a basement in the East Village like some kind of secret sugar dungeon, and somehow every time I go, it never disappoints. It’s small, cute, a little chaotic in the summer, and packed with people who clearly made the same excellent life decision as you.

The menu? Dangerous. We’re talking everything from Asian-inspired desserts to cheese cakes and milk bread creations that basically say, “balance is overrated.” I tried the Milk Golden Toast, which is essentially milk bread toasted in an unreasonable amount of butter, topped with condensed milk ice cream… and honestly, it felt like my dentist could hear me from across the city. Worth it.

If you’re not trying to completely derail your sugar levels, the Harvest dessert is a smarter pick, way more balanced but still delicious. And yes, they have bubble tea, but respectfully, don’t come here for that. This is like going to a steakhouse and ordering a salad. Focus.

Pro tip: go with friends. Not because you enjoy their company, but because you physically cannot finish one of these desserts alone unless you’re on a personal mission. Sharing lets you try more and regret less.

Final verdict: If you want light and subtle, this is not your place. If you want rich, over-the-top, “I’ll deal with consequences later” desserts… welcome home.
What a delightful experience! Even as someone who typically skips desserts, this one truly impressed and left me wanting more.
The staff was exceptionally welcoming from the start, warmly asking if it was our first visit. I ordered the “maseta” (potted plant dessert), which exceeded expectations. At first glance, it appears to be simple chocolate “soil,” but the layers reveal a beautiful harmony: creamy vanilla ice cream, delicate cheesecake bits, fresh strawberries, and a warm liquid that gently melts everything together into pure bliss.
The Nutella chocolate dessert was equally refined — perfectly balanced, never overly sweet or salty, with an exquisite touch of sophistication.
Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be returning — this spot delivers creativity, warmth, and outstanding flavors!
Back to Spot Dessert Bar and I had a much better experience this time — I tried the most elegant black sesame dessert, alongside asian desserts that are both nutritious and delicious.

This seasonal menu highlights asian winter ingredients known for their natural benefits, turning comfort food into something nourishing. I didn’t even feel sweetened out after trying them all.

I also tried a Halloween Special which I hoped they could consider keeping it in the regular menu!!

*Sesame Bloom $14.95 **
The presentation was so elegant that I could easily picture it served at a fine dining restaurant. This black sesame basque cheesecake came with condensed milk ice cream, berry compote and vanilla anglaise. Its deep black hue proved how rich and nutty it was. This was easily our favorite out of the three!

*Chrysanthemum Snow $14.95
It’s rare to see a modern dessert with goji berries and snow mushrooms! The chrysanthemum frozen base was topped with snow mushroom, goji berries, golden pear, and yuzu honey jam. Light, floral, and full of nourishing ingredients. Definitely guilt-free and delicious.

*Ube-rri $14.95
An ube mousse cake layered with chia panna cotta, blueberry compote, chiffon, and topped with a white chocolate shell. The tangy compote balanced out the creamy ube mousse.

*** We got all three of these fall/winter specials for $38.15 (original $44.85).

*Halloween Spooky Monkey Bread
Made with warm coconut monkey bread, coconut ice cream and coconut flakes and drizzled with ube sauce. I was absolutely in love with the hot and cold contrast!!

***updated March 2026***

Back at Spot to try their limited-time coffee dessert for white valentine’s day! The presentation is so pretty, especially with the date white chocolate mousse piped into a flower shape.

It tasted just as good as it looked. We literally scraped the plate clean, which pretty much says how much we enjoyed it.

I’m a big fan of dates in desserts, so I was already into this. The date white chocolate mousse and dried dates brought this caramel-like sweetness that balanced the slight bitterness from the coffee. I only wish the mochi cake was a bit chewier or more mochi-y though.

Also just a heads up, this dessert has caffeine and it kept me up for a bit since I had it in the evening lol.
Spot is my favorite dessert place!

They consistently serve delicious desserts, and the variety is impressive. Everything I’ve tried has been great so far. The items that come with the ice cream are especially good — the combinations are always creative and flavorful.

Every time I visit, choosing what to order is part of the fun because there are so many tempting options. The coffee drinks are excellent as well and pair perfectly with the desserts.

It’s also a great spot for a weekend evening date.
Highly recommended.
I think this place is a bit overrated. It gets busy quick and the desserts are okay. Out of all of them the matcha lava was by farrr my favorite. Very rich and the perfect amount of matcha. The harvest was not that great in my opinion and the golden toast was a little dry for my taste. Maybe I would come back for the other items but its a bit pricey.
I wasn’t sure what to expect at Spot Dessert Bar East Village, but it turned into one of my favorite dessert stops. I tried a few of their signature items like the Matcha Lava Cake, Mango Sticky Rice Crepe, and a Thai Tea Boba Float, and everything was fun and delicious. The Matcha Lava Cake was warm with a gooey green tea center that wasn’t too sweet, and the flavors really popped. The Mango Sticky Rice Crepe had fresh mango with creamy coconut and soft sticky rice wrapped neatly inside, which felt unique and comforting at the same time. The Thai Tea Boba Float was refreshing and creamy with chewy boba that made it feel like dessert and drink combined. The vibe inside was colorful and lively with upbeat music, which made it feel more exciting than a typical dessert shop. The staff were friendly and helped explain the menu when I was deciding what to order. Portions were generous enough to share, and I left feeling satisfied and already thinking about what to try next time. The place also felt clean and well maintained even when a few people were waiting. It is one of those dessert spots that makes you want to come back just to try another item on the menu.
Really small spot so had a hard time getting a seat, might have just been there during the Friday Night Rush...however the selection was great for desert. Nice size plates and they had a few others that I liked to try but only had room for these 2. Will definitely go back on more of a relaxed time frame so I can spend more time trying the other selections. Also they had good coffee and drinks to go with the sweets.
This place truly stands out with its creative designs, stunning presentations, and absolutely delicious flavors. We loved everything we tried and highly recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth!
This place is incredible! They’re highly efficient without ever compromising on service or quality.

When we first arrived, there was an understandable one-hour wait, but they kept us updated via text and notified us as soon as our table was ready.

The menu included pictures of every item, which made ordering easy and convenient!

We chose the Milky Puff and Sesame Bloom, and both were outstanding with truly unique flavors.

If you’re not into overly sweet desserts but still want something indulgent, the Sesame Bloom is perfect for you. If you prefer something fun and nostalgic, try the Milky Puff — it’s like enjoying cereal and ice cream together, but in the best possible way lol!
This place has absolutely unique desserts — we’ve never tried anything like this before! We ordered two different desserts, and both were very unusual in flavor and presentation, yet incredibly delicious.

The place is literally packed with people, the foot traffic is very high. And it’s obvious why — quality and creativity like this are rare.

A great spot for anyone with a sweet tooth or those who enjoy trying something new. Definitely recommend!
I WILL be coming back for the Golden Toast and Harvest dessert! I took a bite of both and went straight to heaven—I'm literally obsessed with them. I wasn't expecting the butter on the Golden Toast to be a brown butter, but I absolutely love it! The milk tea for the Harvest dessert added the perfect touch of flavor, giving the layers underneath more depth.

I did have to wait in a line to be seated but it was honestly worth the wait!
I am. Sorry. For this 3 star review. Because the staff were so nice and so chill and actually super funny. We were throwing some weird questions at them and they indeed played ball. Thanks guys.
Anyway. The food is just super mid. So so mid. The matcha lava cake is good. The cheesecake in a dirt pot is good.
Everything else tasted like literally nothing and cost a months rent. I’m so sorry.
It also always has a wait but you can join the guest list from afar (online) which is nice.
