Starting with the positive this is a beautiful Spa.
There are numerous hydro jet pools and Saunas . The negative is that it is expensive and I understand it often gets crowded on the weekend but Spa Castle is a unique experience.
It's well worth the cost. I Have been planning to go for years and am glad I finally got there. I am looking forward to going back.

I had a massage with Esther. I requested a Medium strength massage. The space was very clean and the staff were pleasant. I would surely come back to visit again. :-)

Another great visit to spa castle. Nice clean facilities, great body scrub, and nice staff interactions. $85 for weekday seemed very reasonable for a 4hour visit. 25 min scrub was $75 plus auto 20% gratuity. My friend got a a drink it was surprisingly pricey at $26. Will be back but won’t be boozing.

Nestled in the heart of Queens, New York, lies Spa Castle. Spa Castle is an all-season spa facility, meaning they are open seven days a week, including holidays. While I had not gone previously, I do know they underwent a massive renovation in 2024. While the price has increased and is on the pricey side, I will say, it is worth the cost.

Like all Korean spas, upon entering, you lock your shoes and clothes in your designated locker. The locker is more advanced than other places I had been too as you need to tap your wristband once to unlock and AGAIN to re-lock. The clothing locker has a nice viewing screen to indicate whether it is locked or not, although the shoe locker does not have this feature. Like all traditional Korean bathhouses, the lockers are gender-separated and you have to be nude. On the men's side, there is a cold plunge, heated pools, wet sauna, dry sauna, and several acupressure hydrotherapy aqua-jet pools. The heated pools were lukewarm in my opinion. I am aware that having it too hot is probably a lawsuit or health concern, but I do wish they made it a touch hotter. The acupressure hydrotherapy aqua-jet pools were my favorite! With a push of a button, several high-powered aqua-jets will hit certain acupuncture areas.

The second floor consists of saunas: Himalayan Salt Sauna, Color Therapy, Gold Sauna, Jade Sauna, Halotherapy, Far Infrared Sauna, Ice Land, and Infrared Zone. There is a map to help guide you to each one. The Ice Land was just cold enough to cool your body down and I do enjoy the heat from the Himalayan Salt Sauna. There are also outdoor and indoor pools on the third floor if you wish for more acupressure jets or to converse with other friends/patrons. There are also lounges throughout the entire facility for you to relax and enjoy.

Is the price expensive? Yes, I would say it is. But is the price worth it? Yes, definitely so. With all the various saunas and pools and relaxation, it is worth it. Furthermore, there is no time limit, so you can relax for the entire day. If you can, go on the weekdays where the prices are lower and are less crowded (well, at least for the mornings to afternoon).

I have been a few times since its reopened and it is so beautiful, quiet and clean. My favorite part is I can now bring my kids to enjoy it also for a great family day. I had a head spa which was wonderful and really enjoyed the hot tubs and saunas. The food upstairs is better than downstairs, but both good with lots of options. I do not find it to be expensive with everything that is included. I can’t wait to go back!

We came here for a friend’s birthday! I really enjoyed myself! I heard these “spa’s were dirty & over crowded”. I felt it was clean & we even saw them checking the water while we were in one of the outdoor jacuzzis. I do wonder how it would be when the weather gets warmer. I could see how it could easily get over crowded. There were a few food options which was nice, they had a little of everything. I don’t think the prices were bad either. The bar was probably the most expensive but that’s expected in this environment. Minus, one of the ladies at the food shacks the staff was friendly. I would return!

Spa Castle exceeded our expectations! 😊 Kid-friendly vibe, delicious food, and spotless amenities. But what really made our visit special was the very good service. The staff member in the women's area on Feb 28, 3-7pm, was so kind, helpful, respectful, and super accommodating with me and my 2 kids. We appreciated the attention to cleanliness, especially with little ones in tow. As someone who values hospitality and good food, I'd highly recommend Spa Castle for families, dates, or solo rest and relaxations.

Facilities are nice but at least on the Saturday I went there it was more like party spa. Hard to find a truly quiet spot, even the sleeping room wasn’t quiet. No chairs on the roof deck, but killer view at night. Most of the kitchens closed super early, so at prime dinner time the only food that was available was the bar food, despite hours on website advertising that they’re open until 8:30pm. When I went into the ladies only pool area, I was confused because every single person in the pools was wearing a bathing suit despite the sign saying no bathing suits allowed. I felt the need to double check that I was even allowed to go nude (which I was). And when I walked through the locker area nude, heard a customer in the background make a remark about people going naked. Saw a woman using a phone in ladies only pool area, looked like she was FaceTiming.

I was only visiting for a day. Might have had a different experience on a weekday during work hours but with my experience it’s definitely not the place to go if you’re looking for quiet relaxation or a more traditional Korean spa experience. Also the most expensive one I’ve been to ever for overall a subpar experience—I don’t even get free access to towels at the price. It’s also rather strange to feel like I’m the one doing something awkward by being nude in a place where being nude is supposed to be the norm.

I’ve been a loyal Spa Castle customer from day one, even during the times they closed for renovations. I’ve always supported this place and truly wanted it to continue being great. Last Wednesday, we visited from around 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM (they close at 9:30 PM), so we were mindful not to rush them or their closing shift.

Overall, the spa experience itself was good. The facilities were fine, and the food was absolutely chef’s kiss as always - that part never disappoints. I also understand that prices have gone up, and while Spa Castle is now priced similarly to SoJo Spa, I didn’t mind paying more since everything else in life has also gone up.

However, the experience was completely ruined at the very end.

When we were about to leave, we realized there were no hair dryers at all - not even one. Yes, you read that right: a spa with NO hair dryers. I asked the three ladies at the front desk if there were any hair dryers available, and they told me, “We don’t have any. Customers steal them.” I was shocked. That is not the customer’s responsibility — it’s the spa’s responsibility to manage and replace basic amenities. A hair dryer is a basic service at any spa, especially in winter, when it’s cold outside and people cannot walk out with wet hair.

When we went to check out, a male and a female staff member were at the counter. The man asked how our experience was, and I honestly said everything was fine except for the fact that there were no hair dryers, which was very disappointing. He looked at the female staff member, and she said, “We do have one hair dryer. Did you ask them?” I told her yes — we asked twice, and three employees told us there were none. Instead of apologizing or trying to help, her tone was rude and dismissive. There was no effort to resolve the issue or even acknowledge how uncomfortable and unfair that situation was.

No spa should send guests out into the cold with wet hair after they paid full price for the experience.

Sadly, the lack of basic amenities and the unprofessional attitude at the front desk completely ruined what could have been a great visit. I was very disappointed, especially as someone who has supported Spa Castle for years. At this point, I would rather go to King Spa or SoJo Spa, where customer service and basic spa standards are taken seriously.

Very upsetting experience, and sadly, I don’t think I’ll be returning.

Haven’t been here in years, but WOW — I love the new renovations. Everything looks so much cleaner, and it really feels like you’re in another country. They have outdoor jacuzzis and pools, and indoors you'll find multiple pools with water jets and saunas. There’s even a relaxation room.

The space is multi-level, so expect to walk up and down a lot. There’s also an indoor pool located in the locker room where you go in completely naked — don’t worry, it’s separated for men and women. Downstairs, you can get a full body scrub too.

They have food options on every level. The fourth floor has a yoga/relaxation room with a cute view of the bridge. The third floor has the outdoor pools and more indoor pools. The second floor is where all the saunas are, including the ice room.

Definitely check this place out — it’s perfect for a relaxing day.

Hi Rose!
We are thrilled you visited again, after all these years. So excited you love the renovations. Our team worked hard to create a cleaner, more immersive environment, so it’s wonderful to know it made such a positive impression. Such great insight in your review, we hope you enjoyed every level. Our Bathhouse is one-of-a-kind! It does take getting used to, but some guests visit us especially for that experience!

Thank you for visiting again, we hope to see you sooner this time!

I had a great time at the Spa Castle! I paid $110 on a Saturday for the entrance fee and additional service services such as a spa or a facial can be added as well. The upkeep of this facility is top-notch as it was very clean. There were several places to choose from to eat, I got the edamame as a light snack. I’m definitely going to try the café the next time I visit as the chicken sandwich looked scrumptious. There were several spa pools and jacuzzis and we tried all of them and enjoyed each one. There were several rooms to enjoy with different levels of temperatures from an ice room to a hot Himalayan salt room. I think the Himalayan salt room went all the way up to 178°. I highly recommend visiting this spa as it’s a great getaway for a day or for a couple looking to relax and or something to do with the girls!

My first time at Spa Castle — and wow, it was 100% worth it! My friend and I instantly felt like we were transported into vacation mode the moment we walked in. We also tried the body scrub, and OMG, it was heavenly! We enjoyed it so much that we didn’t even want to leave.

They provide you with a robe and slippers, which you return at the end, and the saunas were absolutely amazing — each one had its own unique vibe and relaxation level.

The prices are a bit on the higher side, but honestly, the overall experience made it worth every penny. The only downside was the snacks and drinks — they were overpriced and not really worth it. Other than that, everything was excellent.

Highly recommend this place for a relaxing date or even some peaceful alone time. 🧖‍♀️✨

LOVED THE EXPERIENCE!
I enjoyed my staying here, it was super satisfying and fun, they have a ton of rooms where they serve purpose and a pool with a lot of water pressure points. I would suggest to improve the menu a little bit and make it more enjoyable because I feel some of the food is too basic and sorta expensive. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the sunsets that you get to see are amazing. The pools inside the dressing rooms are my favorite. You have the freedom to roam with no clothes lol.

Great Experience, but Limited Pool Options

Spa Castle was a really good and relaxing experience overall. The place is clean, peaceful, and a nice escape from the city rush. However, I gave it 4 stars because I felt there weren’t many pool options compared to what I expected.

That said, the bar pool was definitely the highlight for me! It was fun, social, and super chill—made the visit totally worth it. If you’re looking for a place to unwind with some drinks in the water, this is the spot.

Would I go back? Yes—for the vibe and bar pool, absolutely!

Response from the owner

Hi Katherine!
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the atmosphere, especially our Aqua Bar, it’s a guest favorite! We appreciate your feedback regarding the pool variety. We take pride in being the only place in New York City offering over 10 unique aqua experiences, including hydrotherapy pools and therapeutic baths. We’re glad you plan to return and look forward to welcoming you back for another relaxing visit soon!

A positive change to the review (sorry about the last harsh one). Even if they did renovate and changed most of the place, it's still the same Spa Castle I knew back in 2016 when I first visited. Besides repairing the broken faucets and, the outdoor lighting at night has actually been enhanced and better than before (and can also be seen via street level). And the jets are much more powerful too. No problem with the food. Along with the 3 way balconies, the new penthouse view is very breathtaking with relaxing spa music playing and nice tasteful ceiling decoration. Staff are around mopping the floor and keeping the place tidy.

I recommend going there during the evening at least before 1, 2, or 3 PM and staying until night for the best outdoor pools experience and to be able to order food since their last calls are at 7:45 PM, plus also weekdays when it's not so crowded. I hope this place can stay open for a super long time. The outdoor pools are very unique & seriously rock with this place; no other spa in New York has them. Saunas are still good. And I really love the different holiday decorations they put up each year.

I don't care about the negative reviews, this is still the same Spa Castle I knew even with the new makeovers. And I will always return back on some occasions. I would never go to the beach ever again.

Response from the owner
