Found the perfect pre-Broadway spot! Sombreros on 48th St is super accessible and just a short walk to the theaters. The service here is incredibly quick and the staff is very attentive, so the food came out fast enough that we had plenty of time before our show. The food itself was great and the portions are large enough to share.
They have an awesome $5 margarita deal, but note that it’s strictly at the bar, which is on the smaller side (around 5–6 seats, first come, first serve). I didn't get a chance to try them this time, but I'll definitely be back to check them out.

I was here twice and regreat I have to leave NYC. Absolutely wonderfull place. Great food! Great service! Great atmosphere! It’s not one of those sofisticated restaurants you spend hundreds for stiff climate. It’s live, vibrant and simply great place. Next time I will be in NYC I will definitely return here!

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Hells Kitchen. We usually visit every couple weeks, a group of 5-6 of us. The food is amazing, the lovely Lady Manager (she's 10 out of 10, seriously, ADORE her), and the ambience are all wonderful.

The majority of the waitstaff are also fantastic... EXCEPT there is a new busser who made this evening's visit a bit difficult.

At least a dozen times during the course of our meal he would stop and ask if we were done with something (whether it be food or drink) even if it was OBVIOUS we weren't finished. Stopped chewing, put the fork down to speak amongst ourselves, "Are you done, can I take?" and it's an almost full plate of food!! He even tried taking our silverware before we were done!

Normally we would sit and order a second round after dinner, but not tonight.

Of note, they were not super busy, there was no one waiting for a table, and our lovely friend even brought us a round of shots when she saw us packing up to leave quicker than usual. I will also add, we were not the only table he was doing this to... just made us feel super unwelcome in one of our "home" restaurants.

Sombrero Mexican Restaurant is a go-to spot in Times Square, especially with Cinco de Mayo right around the corner. Established in 1983, it has built a strong reputation for serving authentic, elevated Mexican cuisine using fresh, high-quality ingredients.

We started with the Guacamole De La Casa, made fresh to order and customizable to mild or spicy. The Main Quesadilla was loaded and satisfying, topped with sour cream and pico de gallo, with options like chicken, steak, vegetables, or shrimp. The highlight of the meal was the Molcajete for two, served in a traditional hot stone bowl with a sizzling mix of grilled chicken, beef, pork, chorizo, cheese, cactus, and chili, accompanied by tortillas.

The drink menu is just as impressive, featuring oversized fishbowl cocktails, a wide variety of margaritas, Bulldog cocktails, and their signature “Crazy Bottles” like the El Borracho, which comes with frozen flavors and a margarita shot on the side.

A lively atmosphere, generous portions, and strong drinks make this a solid choice for celebrating or just enjoying a fun night out in the city.

CARLOS IS THE MOST AMAZING HOST! honestly, if it wasnt for him, always well dressed, always in a good mood, the place wouldnt be the same. the bartender mari is always nice and the managers kevin and daisy make sure the place always run smoothly. my fave servers are sabado & saul, they are so sweet 🤍. music and food is like stepping into mexico off the street of times square. THEE best place.

Service was terrible with our waiter, other staff were friendly. The waiter couldn’t answer simple questions about the menu like how many shots are in the 12oz vs 22oz, just one example. Didn’t really care to smile with us. And kept trying to get us to pay even tho it was very empty in here on a Friday night.
Then to top it off tip was automatically included which explains the lack luster service. I don’t mind tipping as someone who works in the food industry myself, however this server really didn’t do this place justice and I do believe that tips are earned not expected. Definitely makes a difference in service. Guac was good and so were the wings.

COME HERE! Everyone is incredibly kind, and their drinks are amazing. Rafael is so sweet and his kindness was unforgettable. The restaurant is so beautifully decorated. We stopped by for the $5 margaritas, I got salt on the rim and it was so yummy. I’ll definitely be coming back! Thank you!

Convenient location in the theatre district with nice outdoor seating. The service was excellent and friendly, but my tacos and quesadilla was a bit bland, lacking flavor. The margaritas are very good and only $5 during happy hour.

Stopped in for a quick bite before a play and was so glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious and wonderfully cheesy, and the service was excellent. A perfect pre-show stop.

I love the energy and great food here is really worth a spot in the city especially with the $5 happy hour margaritas! Fresh Guacamole and flavors just hitting the spot, steak and veggie tacos were the best! Check out our amazing video on Instagram and follow @jadaexploresall!

I enjoyed the food so much. The molcajete tasted so good!! Elote (corn) was delicious, guacamole 🥑 with the tortillas was delicious . We ordered the big sized drink for 3 of us and we couldn’t finish it. We didn’t make reservations and we were able to get a table. Staff were friendly and helpful.
I recommend!

My son and I came here for Sunday lunch before seeing an off-Broadway matinee. we shared the nachos and the big burrito and both were delicious and plenty of food for the two of us, almost too much. Server was very attentive. Prices were high (even for this New Yorker), but that’s to be expected in the theater district.

We had a party of 6 and each person ordered something different. Every dish included fresh ingredients, and each entree had amazing depths of flavor and seasoning. One person in our party has multiple food allergies. The waitstaff happily answered questions about ingredients and accommodations. Each staff member was exceptional, extremely attentive, and friendly. Our entire party agreed that this is one of, if not the best meals we had this trip. We can't wait to visit again in the future. Thanks Sombrero for the memorable experience!
