The food was excellent overall, and we would definitely recommend the grilled octopus and the lobster ravioli. The crab spaghetti, however, was a bit underwhelming compared to the other dishes.

The restaurant also has a lovely terrace. It closes fairly early, but if you arrive in time, it’s a beautiful spot to enjoy your meal.

The only downside was the service. We noticed that several tables who arrived after us received their food before we did, which was a little frustrating. We also had difficulty getting our waiter’s attention, each time we tried, he would say “one minute” and then not follow up. It didn’t ruin the experience, but it did take away from an otherwise very enjoyable evening.

That said, the quality of the food and the pleasant atmosphere make this a place we’d happily return to.

Response from the owner

Hi Leanne,
Thank you for your thoughtful review. We’re delighted you enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but we apologize for the service delays you experienced. Your feedback is very important to us, and we’ll work on improving attentiveness. We look forward to welcoming you back.

10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for that old school Italian vibe, right in Hells Kitchen 2 blocks from Time Square. The bar team was fantastic and helped guide me through the menu! The Grilled Octopus was smoky and tender. The Cacio E pepe was everything you'd want and then the Dessert was fun and playful. Roberto was a pleasant friendly face even though I sat at the bar! Ill be back to try the Branzino ;) Thanks again!

Response from the owner

Hi Kaylee,
Thank you for such an amazing review! We're thrilled you enjoyed the atmosphere, cocktails, grilled octopus, Cacio e Pepe, and dessert. Roberto and the bar team will truly appreciate your kind words. We can't wait to have you back for the Branzino!

Had such an amazing experience at Sicily Osteria. Everything tasted incredibly fresh — from the olive oil and bread to the main dishes. The salmon literally melted in my mouth, and the crust added the perfect crunch.

And the dessert… wow. The tiramisu was SO good. You could actually taste the real coffee flavor instead of that artificial taste a lot of places have. Truly one of the best I’ve had.

10/10 experience overall. The service was also amazing — everyone was so attentive and welcoming. Huge thank you to Lester and Rubelze for being so attentive. Can’t wait to come back!

Response from the owner

Hi Stephanie,
Thank you so much! We’re thrilled you loved the food, tiramisu, and service. Lester and Rubelze will be so happy to hear this. Can’t wait to welcome you back!

My husband and I enjoyed our visit immensely! The host was extremely welcoming and kind, and the service was attentive and perfectly hospitable. We had several encounters with multiple staff members, and each person was wonderful! Roberto, our main waiter, was lovely and made sure our experience was memorable. Our meals were delicious, drinks were crafted to perfection, and dessert was divine. 10/10!

Response from the owner

Hi Melissa,
Thank you for such a wonderful review! We're delighted you enjoyed every part of your visit, and we’ll be sure to share your kind words with Roberto and the team!

"Our Server Roberto G was wonderful! We came in before a show and did not feel rushed at all. He waited until we were done with our appetizer to put in our main dishes. He checked in but not too much. We had a bottle of wine, a cocktail, and a separate glass of wine. For food we had one appetizer, a main pasta each and one dessert to share. The appetizer was great! Both pasta dishes were lacking on sauce. My cacio e pepe was a little dry. Maybe needed more salt/cheese flavor. Would not stop me from coming back but I’d order something else. The Dessert was so good!" Overall a great experience!

Response from the owner

Hi Kayla,
Thank you for your thoughtful review! We’re so glad you had a great experience with Roberto. We appreciate your feedback on the pasta and will definitely share it with our kitchen. Hope to see you again soon!

Great pre-theater restaurant. Attentive staff didn't rush us while also serving us in a timely way to get to the play on time. Two of us had the restaurant week specials, and one had a regular meal. The shrimp scampi was fabulous, as was the eggplant rollotini appetizer. (I would've been happy just sopping up the vodka sauce!) Loved the mini olive oil can for the bread. And the desserts were delicious! The minestrone in a bread bowl was the only disappointment: it had zucchini, onions, and carrots....no beans or pasta so I'm not sure how minestrone was defined.

Response from the owner

Hi Lisa,
Thank you for the thoughtful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed your pre-theater meal. We appreciate your note about the minestrone and will certainly share it with our kitchen team. Hope to see you again before your next show!

We stopped in for dinner before our show, and they’re clearly well-prepared for pre-theater crowds. Most guests were also heading to performances, and our server made sure we stayed perfectly on schedule. We went with the $45 Restaurant Week menu. The tuna carpaccio was quite bland and lacked flavor, but the meatballs were solid. The short ribs were missing some juiciness and seasoning, while the lasagna was enjoyable. Desserts were excellent, and the $25 bottle specials for Restaurant Week were a nice touch. Overall, it worked well as a pre-show spot.

Response from the owner

Hi Gokay,
Thank you for dining with us and for the detailed feedback. We appreciate your notes on the menu—this helps us continue to improve.

Despite what it says on Google, it’s Best to make a reservation if you’re dining pre-theater. Be aware that the NYC Restaurat Week menu is NOT available from 5-7pm.

The food was very good, though not necessarily Italian, let alone Sicilian. My dinner companion started with the crab cakes. There were two decent sized crab cakes with a corn salad — something I’ve never seen in Italy. Just polenta. The crab cakes were excellent.

I had the grilled octopus which also was a generous portion. It was grilled and simply dressed with olive oil and lemon juice. It was over a salad of wild rice and dried cranberries, again something I’ve never seen in Italy.

For a main course, my companion had the shrimp scampi which was served with broccoli rabe. He had expected linguine or some pasta. The food was delicious and again the portions were generous.

I had the skirt steak with chimichurri sauce and lemon potatoes. Not at all Italian, but delicious and, again great portions. (Though there could have been more chimichurri sauce.)

My companion’s tiramisu was mediocre. It was the pastry chef’s reinvention of tiramisu that included rather crispy ladyfingers on the outside with a paucity of filling.

On the other hand, my Torta Setteveli was a very rich chocolate concoction with chocolate mousse, a cocoa frosting and hazelnuts.

The service was very attentive. The spaces between the tables were filled with waitstaff.

The restaurant was quite noisy. It averaged 79 dB which is considered loud. It was hard to hold a conversation. Most of the noise was from people speaking loudly to be heard. There was some background music you could barely hear.

Response from the owner

Hi there,
Thank you for such a detailed review. We’re glad you enjoyed the food, generous portions, and attentive service. We appreciate your notes on the menu and atmosphere, as they help us better understand our guests’ experiences. We hope to welcome you back again in the future.

I consider this restaurant to be the perfect spot for Italian food if you’re near Times Square or heading to a Broadway show. From the moment we arrived, the experience was excellent. The host was extremely friendly, and we really appreciated hearing the backstory about the restaurant, its origins, and the family that owns it, it added such a personal touch.

All of the staff was absolutely fantastic and very knowledgeable about the menu. Our server made excellent recommendations, and everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed both the food and drinks. One staff member even offered us complimentary shots at the end of the meal, which was such a fun and unexpected gesture.

The complimentary bread service was incredible, easily some of the best bread I’ve had in New York. You can truly tell that the pasta is freshly made and that high-quality ingredients are used throughout the menu. Another big plus was how quickly the food came out, which is especially important if you’re trying to make it to a Broadway show on time.

The atmosphere was intimate and welcoming, making you feel right at home. We really enjoyed our time here and would absolutely come back to try more dishes. Highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our meal at Sicily Osteria! We are politely and professionally greeted the minute we walked into the door. We were seated very promptly as per our reservation time. Our server Roberto was the best! He answered all our questions about the menu respectfully and with a smile. He was very professional and personable. The food was absolutely delicious. We were in awe over the meatball appetizer. The sword fish special was out of this word. We also tremendously enjoyed the chicken parm entree. The fish and chicken were both extremely soft and fresh. Probably the best dinner we ever had in New York City. We ordered the pistachio cheesecake and cappuccino for desert - we were very glad we did because it was a great way to end our meal. The ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant is perfect. Very quant and beautiful. There are a lot of dining options in NYC, but this place is not to be missed.

Response from the owner

Hi Samantha,
What an honor to read your words—thank you! We’ll be sure to share your compliments with Roberto and the entire team. We’re thrilled this was such a memorable dinner for you and can’t wait to welcome you back.

This is a cute restaurant with very nice outdoor seating. The interior looks good. Service was prompt. Unfortunately it was very difficult to carry on a conversation. The noise level was high and was made worse by a guy two tables away speaking very loudly trying to impress his date. The food was a disappointment. I had the veal which looked good but lacked flavor. A simple salt shaker would have helped. It was a bland meal. My wife ordered the Margarita pizza. When it came with no basil she was told they did not have any but then returned with a plate with basil leaves. My wife is a plain eater and she said the pizza lacked taste. The bread was served with a small tin of olive oil on the table. Pepper would have been nice. Perhaps we just made the wrong meal choices.

Response from the owner

Hi Bill,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed our setting and service, but we’re truly sorry to hear that the food and atmosphere didn’t meet your expectations. Your comments about the veal, pizza, and overall seasoning are very helpful, and we’ll be sharing them with our kitchen team. We hope you’ll consider giving us another try — we’d love the chance to provide a more enjoyable dining experience.

The pasta dishes are very unique. The potato croce were good but they needed something acidic. The pesto didn't do it. The arancino (note it's not plural as it usually is seen) was tasty enough and big for being 1 bell shaped rice ball. The spaghetti chittara had a decent amount of crab meat and am interesting combination of textures: cream sauce, flaky crab, spaghetti noodle, and crunchy pistachio. The casarecce sauce was delicious and very meaty. The limone sicilia dessert was gorgeous and delicious. It's very tart, which I like in my lemon dishes. The only disappointment was the pana de casa. We paid for the bread because it looked amazing, but everyone around us got a different complimentary basket of bread. The pana was smaller than expected and very dense and very floral with rosemary. I think I would have preferred the rustic ciabatta everyone else had.

Response from the owner

Hi Amie,
Thank you for the thoughtful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the dishes, especially the pasta and Limone Sicilia dessert. We appreciate your detailed feedback about the bread — we’ll share it with our team. Hope to welcome you back soon!
