Got the South Indian thali that costed me $20, and it was very subpar. The rasam was bad, and the papad is probably a few days old as there was no crunch at all.

I informed the staff, and she replaced the papad, not any diff than the first, so I let it be.

Nothing that was served felt like it was freshly prepared, maybe they’re cutting corners to survive, the restaurant looked sparse.

In my opinion, they should serve a few good items than have 100 varieties that don’t taste any good.
A South Indian thali is all about comfort meal, and it’s probably worth the drive to A2B to have an authentic one than here.

The staff is attentive. The food took a little longer to be served . But the kitchen may have been busier than usual. The food tasted authentic. The lassi was smooth. The filtered coffee was worth waiting for.
I went for the breakfast buffet today, and my experience was really disappointing. I waited nearly 45 minutes for dosa, and in the end, I had to leave without even getting it. On top of that, I waited around 20 minutes for bhature to be refilled. The other items were just average at best.

This place is definitely not the same as it used to be earlier. The service and overall experience have gone downhill. I don’t think I’ll be visiting again.
Spacious, friendly service, accommodating of allergies & amazing meal. The value was excellent too, but this has been one of my top meals in the neighborhood.
I’m a regular customer here. I love their Mid-week Buffet and also their Poori-Bhaji. Service is really good. Management is really doing a good job!!! Family friendly and kid friendly also!
Title: Disappointing Veg Biryani Experience 😕

I recently ordered veg biriyani. The dish lacked veggies, which was surprising given its name. The rice seemed more like regular and sticky rice . Flavor-wise, it was pretty disappointing . Would've been great if the taste was worth the price.
I traveled 1 hour on recommendation of my friends. It was worth it. We ordered North Indian and South Indian both along with starters. Everything was perfect, yummy food, reasonable prices and good quality and quantity. They take good care of guests and serve food with love. I would come for my special occasions to save the day.
The Sapthagiri Special is a great deal! We enjoyed the idli, vada, and both the onion chilli rava masala and regular masala dosas—everything was delicious. The sambar deserves special praise for being so good. However, if I could make one change, it would be to add a South Indian-style peanut chutney to the offerings.
I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years, and it never disappoints! Still my favorite spot. The cut mirchi and spring dosa are absolutely the best — crispy, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The owner is incredibly sweet and welcoming, always making every guest feel like family. A true gem for authentic Indian cuisine and warm hospitality! Highly recommended.
We were here with no reservation, plenty of seats were available at 6:30-7pm. The atmosphere was good, Indian vibe, decorations, not loud, all good. For the little kid we ordered mango lassi, and it was tasty, but they brought it in the simple glass from Jack Daniel's (as usual such glasses you can get as a promo when you buy a bottle of whiskey) , and it was so odd to serve a yogurt in such glass. Then we ordered Malai Kofta and again, the bowl was chipped, even though the dish was good. Other dishes were served also not accurate. Overall I would give 3 stars. Sorry, just want to be honest.
I visited this place during my trip to NYC last year and we had a breakfast here, it's like buffet style lot of food options was there mostly south indian options. Every item has good taste and food quality was also good. I recommend this place for breakfast or may be lunch and dinner. Overall it was good experience overthere
Lovely place, and tasty food. Friendly staff. Conveniently located close to Exchange place station, and Indian market. Dosa was delicious, we will visit again to try other things.
Whenever you’re in Jersey City this is the best vegetarian restaurant. Food is delicious, good amount of quantity, decent price & ambience. Service is very nice and friendly staff. Host Nohra is very friendly and quick in service.
I visited this about a year ago and absolutely loved it. The food quality, ambience, and service were all excellent back then it felt like a true gem for South Indian breakfast lovers. Naturally, I was excited to revisit in 2025, but unfortunately, this visit didn’t live up to the previous experience.

While the temple music and peaceful ambiance still create a welcoming atmosphere, the quality of the food has noticeably dropped. The vada and puri were extremely hard and nearly inedible, which was disappointing. I did enjoy the dosa and a few other items, but overall, the meal lacked the freshness and authenticity I remembered.

What saddened me the most was the limited buffet variety. In 2024, they had pani puri, pav bhaji, cutlets, pongal, poha and several other items alongside the regular breakfast spread. This time, most of those dishes were missing, and the selection was minimal as shown in the photo I’ve attached.

It’s disappointing to see such a vibrant place lose its charm. I genuinely hope the team can bring back the quality and variety that once made Spatagiri a go-to spot for delicious Indian breakfast. It still has great potential just needs that spark again.
I recently tried a South Indian thali for the first time, and it was a delightful experience. The variety was impressive, featuring sambar, rasam, dal, and more—all bursting with flavor. The server was knowledgeable, describing each dish and suggesting perfect pairings, which enhanced the experience.

While I found the Mysore masala dosa to be decent, I’ve definitely had better dosas elsewhere. Still, the overall meal was worth it, especially with free parking available right next to the restaurant.

I’d give this place a solid 3.5 out of 5. A lovely spot to explore South Indian cuisine!
