Fantastic views are night. Bit cold in the winter but was an all around great view point in the city. If you have to choose one, choose this one.

And the tree is stunning at Christmas.

Rockefeller Center
Rockefeller Center in mid-December is the ultimate holiday experience in New York. The energy is vibrant, and the scale of the decorations is truly incredible to see in person. The centerpiece is the iconic Christmas tree, which towers over the ice skating rink. Seeing the continuous motion of the skaters under the festive lights creates a classic holiday atmosphere that feels both historic and high-energy. It is a perfect spot for taking in seasonal views from every angle, with lights reflecting beautifully off the ice and surrounding buildings.
Beyond the main plaza, the attention to detail in smaller displays is just as impressive. The "Santa at Rockefeller Center" area and elaborate holiday window designs provide plenty of interesting visuals to explore while walking through the area. Every corner seems to have a new festive detail, from massive light displays to charming shop fronts like Teuscher Chocolates.
The location is also perfect for visiting other nearby landmarks like St. Patrick’s Cathedral, which offers a beautiful architectural contrast to the holiday hustle. Even with the crowds, the overall spirit is worth experiencing after dark when the lights are at their peak. It remains a must-visit destination for anyone looking to see the best of the city’s holiday tradition and classic festive design.

We are tourists and came from very far away to visit one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
We paid for our tickets and arrived early to get a good spot to watch the sunset over the city.
After we been standing there for 2 hours, wainting for the sunstet, Without any warning in the venue or nearby, some members of the staff asked us to leave an area because it was supposedly reserved for VIP guests.
Only afterwards did they place a small sign and some ropes to mark the area, as shown in the picture. A very questionable “VIP area,” especially considering that it remained completely empty for about an hour. Only after the sunset did a few people arrive, stay there for around 10 minutes, take a photo, and leave.
What frustrates me the most is the fact that they removed customers from an area where they had already been waiting for quite some time in order to enjoy a memorable view. At the last minute, the staff decided to remove guests simply because they had not paid for a more expensive ticket, even though this area had never been marked or restricted during the four hours we were there.
The building itself is beautiful, and the indoor activities are also very enjoyable.
It is disappointing that one of the best experiences of our trip was ruined because of this difference in treatment between customers.
The staff should already have a proper, clearly designated area for VIP guests.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are very sorry to hear that your visit did not meet expectations, especially after traveling such a long way to visit Top of the Rock. We understand how disappointing it must have been to have your sunset experience interrupted in this way.
Your feedback regarding the communication and setup of reserved viewing areas has been shared with our team for review. We truly value your comments and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
Please reach out to us directly so we may have the opportunity to offer you another visit and help provide the experience you had hoped for.

A superb place to visit. Being here truly feels like stepping into scenes from movies and TV shows, you instantly recognize the surroundings, and it brings those memories to life. The atmosphere is vibrant and iconic, making the experience feel both exciting and familiar at the same time. Definitely a must-visit spot if you want to feel that classic New York vibe.

I did the basic art and architecture tour and would highly recommend. I had a private tour because the other people that booked it didn’t show up. I got the feeling most people go to the Top, but this is a hidden gem if you’re curious about the Rockefeller family and the history of the art featured around the plaza. My guide, James, was phenomenal! Very knowledgeable and we had a fun 75 mins together.

As a New Yorker, I’ve grown up seeing these familiar sights. One notable one is the Rockefeller complex. I finally decided to take a guided tour of the center and it did not disappoint.

Our guide, Lisa, is truly a lover of her job. She led us through the grounds pointing out the various artworks and stories that comprise the iconic furnishings of the buildings and plazas. My surprise is the story behind the conception of the Rockefeller Center, which Lisa presented very well with visuals and on site references.

The story of Mr. Rockefeller and his wife’ contribution to the charitable and art world deserves respect.

Being an architecture enthusiast, it was truly a marvel to see the Art Deco details up close.

I totally recommend this addition to the Top of the Rock visit!

An excellent way to see the city skyline both at night and by day. We paid a little extra for a sunset ticket, which included a return the next morning. Great value. The roof top cafe coffee prices were acceptable too. Enjoyed both visits immensely. A beautiful building with an interesting history.

Visited Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas tree and had a surprisingly pleasant experience around the first week of Jan.

The crowd was much lighter than expected, which made it easy to take pictures without feeling rushed. We could really enjoy the view and soak in the festive vibe.

Another plus was the availability of restrooms at the ground level, which was very convenient. Overall, a smooth and enjoyable visit—perfect for relaxed photos and a calm holiday moment in the city. 🎄✨

Rockefeller Center is an iconic and breathtaking destination. The overall experience was truly memorable and inspiring.
During the Christmas season, the area becomes quite crowded, particularly with visitors gathering to see the famous tree. The 2025 Christmas Tree welcoming 2026 was majestic, beautifully illuminated, and absolutely stunning.
Experiencing such a timeless holiday tradition was truly special, and I genuinely loved every moment of the visit.
Si deseas una versión un poco más corta o aún más formal, con gusto la adapto.

It’s always a cool place to walk around and visit no matter what time of the year. When the tree is up it is incredibly crowded with lots of people trying to make money off of pictures, but it’s still nice to look at when you don’t get stuck in the crowd. Other times there’s the flags and the fountains which is nice to sit and chill by. The stores underneath are also a nice place to window shop or eat.

Rockefeller Center is one of those places that truly captures the spirit of New York. The architecture, constant movement, and energy make it exciting at any time of day. In winter, the famous ice rink adds a special magic to the area — skating here feels like a classic New York moment straight out of a movie. If you’re visiting the city during the colder months, skating at the rink is an absolute must.

This place is iconic. I've been up to the top before. Beautiful views. But hands down during Xmas time, the tree lighting. Its amazing and wonderful. It gets super crowded but its worth it. N
Right across is Saks, and they put on a beautiful light show.

Did a quick stop at Rockefeller Center on a weekend trip to NYC and it lived up to expectations. The tree was being decorated, they had ice skating with music, Sam’s 5th ave decorated and much more. This is a busy spot but a must stop if you are in the area. Plenty of shopping areas and there are food options as well. Great for kids to see and the shop at the toy store or skate and get hot chocolate, go to the top of the rock for pictures and a view.

I had a perfect experience! I was very lucky to be the only VIP Rock Pass guest in my time slot :) My guide, Tim, knows absolutely everything about Rockefeller Center! The entire tour was super enriching. Tim walked me around all the surrounding buildings, introduced their history and interesting anecdotes, and patiently answered all my questions. I’m really grateful to him!
I also want to thank the two staff members in the lounge. Having a cup of hot chocolate in the winter felt amazing (unfortunately, I didn’t catch their names).
The Rockefeller observation deck is truly fantastic! Unlike the Empire State Building, there are no suicide barriers blocking the view (and it still feels completely safe), so you can enjoy the full New York night skyline from outdoors. The Skylift is also awesome! Even though I’m afraid of heights, the night view of NYC from up there is absolutely unbeatable. The Beam experience was really fun too—imagining sitting on a beam like workers did nearly a century ago is such a unique opportunity (of course, with a safety harness).
I also tried the guided premium experiences at the Empire State Building and SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, but I have to say Rockefeller is the best! I highly recommend visiting Rockefeller and if possible, definitely try the guided tour. It’s absolutely worth it!
