I've had this place saved on my Google maps for a few years now, and finally went last weekend on Sunday. This place is a definite GEM! The service was immaculate, and attentive. The food was FANTASTIC, and the atmosphere was comfortable and warm. The lobster rolls are definitely worth the price! And their surf and turf is phenomenal as well. If you do mini golf at Shipwrecked, which isn't far from there, you can get a free clam chowder depending on your score I believe! Is definitely on the prcey side, but worth the damn money! Will be a repeat customer!

Very nice, cute interior and chill vibe. The food was great. Parking is NOT the best around there but the place is worth the trip
Response from the owner
Hi Michele,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your meal and our space. Parking can definitely be tricky but we love that we were worth it! We hope to welcome you back soon.
I am very satisfied with the atmosphere, food, and service at this place. Everything was wonderful and made our experience truly special. Thank you so much for a beautiful evening and for helping us celebrate a birthday in such a memorable way.

This is not my first time here, and I will definitely keep coming back. I have never had a negative experience at this place—every visit has been consistently enjoyable. It’s also a great place to visit with children, which makes it even more perfect for families.

Was looking for lobster roll in Brooklyn after key lime pie. The lobster could have been sweeter, and with more melted butter.

The seafood boil was fine, good mix of items
Response from the owner
Hi Ming,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We are so glad you stopped by after your key lime stop. Next time you come in, you should ask for an extra side of butter with your Connecticut Roll. You can never go wrong with more butter! We hope to see you again soon:)
We come at least once a month. We stick to the basics, A lobster dinner with an extra lobster for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children). We get a side salad to augment and a key lime pie to end. We highly recommend and we’ll see you there!
Response from the owner

I’ve been to Red Hook Lobster Pound twice now, and both visits were consistently excellent. The seafood was incredibly fresh, the dishes were flavorful, and the happy hour was genuinely worth it. The lobster was clearly fresh, well prepared, and fairly priced—which is always appreciated.

The happy hour oysters and drinks were a highlight and made the experience even better without feeling gimmicky. Everything tasted high quality and thoughtfully done.

A big shout-out to Aissa, Mason, and Luke, who were fantastic hosts and servers. Their recommendations were spot-on, and their service went above and beyond without being overbearing. They really made the experience enjoyable.

I would absolutely recommend Red Hook Lobster Pound to any seafood lover looking for great food, a fun happy hour, and excellent service. Definitely a place I’ll be returning to!

You definitely came at the perfect time to get happy hour and try all the staff's favorite recommendations. This review really means a lot to the team, we hope to welcome your party again!
A slice of Maine! This is our favorite spot in the city to get lobster hands down. It’s also where we go to celebrate anything. With Maine beer Co’s LUNCH on tap to help wash everything down, Red Hook Lobster Pound will not disappoint you with all their seafood offerings and their friendly staffing.
Response from the owner
Hi Pat!
Thank you so much for the kind review. We are so happy you choose us to celebrate with! The Maine Lunch is delicious too, definitely a favorite beer on tap. We hope to see you again soon!
Delicious lobsters and appetizers.
We had the Maine lobster and Connecticut lobster roll. It was delicious. I’d recommend getting the lime ranch on the side as a dip.
Loved the calamari too.
It’s a little pricey, but I think it’s worth it.

Hi ABK,
Thank you so much for visiting us and leaving this review! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your experience with us. We hope to welcome you back soon, thanks again!
Love the food! Everything here is so fresh and delicious. The Lobster Mac & Cheese is my absolute favorite, but the Lobster Roll, Fish & Chips are all tasty and S’mores is delicious! The atmosphere is great, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is super friendly and helpful, making the dining experience even better. If you’re in the area, you won’t regret stopping by!

Hi Adriana,
Thank you so much for writing this review! We love to hear you enjoyed your visit with us. It seems you ordered very well, come back and try out more of our menu! Thank you again, your words mean a lot to our team.
I came to see what all the hype was about, but left wondering what I missed. The Connecticut lobster roll, which cost over $50, didn’t deliver the buttery punch I expected. If I’m paying that kind of price, I want flavor that grabs me; not something forgettable.

The oysters were okay, but I’ve had better. Calamari was heavy on the batter and lacked the crispiness I like. Tacos? Meh—just so-so. And the lobster bisque came out lukewarm, which really dulled the richness it should’ve had.

Service didn’t help either. It wasn’t busy, yet I had to wave down our server multiple times just to get basic attention. That kind of inattentiveness really takes away from the experience.

Honestly, I’d rather track down a Cousins Maine Lobster truck and call it a day. Better flavor and no need to play hide-and-seek with the staff.
Response from the owner
Hi Victor,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are very sorry your experience with us wasn't up to our usual standard. We aim to have the highest quality food and hospitality and hate to hear this was not the case on your visit. In the future, please let one of the staff know if something is amiss with your meal and we will be more than happy to get that fixed for you. We hope to welcome you back in the future and provide a great dining experience.
This place was ok, but expensive! We were visiting from Tx and doing some site seeing. We took a ferry to Redhook to try this restaurant. The ferry ride was pretty cheap and we did get to see the Statue of Liberty, Governor’s Island along the way. Once we arrived we had to walk to get to any restaurant/bar… they were no where near the dock. Also, we did make a reservation beforehand, but didn’t have any issues checking in early and getting seated. The staff were friendly and the outdoor seating was ok, so we thought, but after sitting there for dinner and hearing the cars honking and speeding by (outdoor seating is literally on the street) we were rethinking our choice. As far as the food goes… it was wasn’t worth the time/money (almost $300 for 4 people) we spent. If you’re on a budget, this place is not for you.
Also, a lot of the shops were closed early, so there wasn’t much to do except drink alcohol or eat. Not what we were expecting! Our fault for not researching more before heading over to Redhook.
Response from the owner
Hi G,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. While we love where we call home, we understand Red Hook is different than any other borough in the city. We are sorry to hear it wasn't exactly the experience you were looking for but are glad you made us a stop on your visit! Regarding our prices, lobster is a premium quality ingredient and we only get the best for our customers, hence the higher prices. Our menu is full of options for all budgets. We hope you visit us again if you make another trip up north!
My mother and I came here recently craving some good seafood, and we were absolutely blown away by what we found. The seafood was incredibly fresh, bursting with flavor, and perfectly seasoned. Every dish came in generous portions, and the shareable plates were ideal for two.
I ordered the New England Seafood Boil and devoured every bite — it was that good. The staff treated us so warmly, and the atmosphere was giving total summer vibes, especially with a cocktail in hand.
Truly a 10/10 experience — I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu!

For more delicious finds like this, make sure to follow @blaze_eatsnyc for the best eats around NYC!

Hi Blazine!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. We are so glad you had such a good meal and experience with us on a great summer day. I have to agree- the New England Seafood Boil is delicious. Your kind words mean so much to our team. We hope to welcome you back soon!
Red Hook Lobster Pound has some real highlights and a few misses, but I’d definitely go back.

The lobster roll was a win—meaty, flavorful, and perfectly toasted. One of the better ones I’ve had in NYC. The drink I had alongside it was super refreshing and really hit the spot.

I also tried the crab dip, which I was excited for, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. It was seasoned well and tasted good with the chips, but the actual crab flavor was barely there. It felt like it was drowned in the creamy mix, and the crab just disappeared in it.

The seafood boil with crab legs and corn looked great but unfortunately had no seasoning—completely bland, with zero flavor. Wouldn’t order that again.

Still, the vibe was good, and the lobster roll alone makes it worth a visit. I’d go back and try more of the menu—just steering clear of the boil next time.
Came here recently with friends. We had a reservation, but they’ll seat you regardless, depending on how busy they are (we arrived around 12pm, so it was just getting busy). Service was good and attentive, the food was okay for me. The lobster bisque had a weird taste to it (it tasted a bit like eggs), and I’ve had better lobster rolls at other places in Manhattan and in Boston. But the vibes and service was good, and I’m willing to try it again to see how other things are on the menu.

Hi Joseph,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. We are so glad you and your friends enjoyed your visit with us. We hope you come back and try some more items on our menu!
Thank you again for the support. We look forward to serving you again!
Walked in on a Friday afternoon and got seated quickly. Service was great- staff was kind and attentive. I dropped a knife and a male server came with a new utensil set right away which I appreciated.

We got started with the Lobster Claw Bloody Mary and that was yummy. I'm usually particular with my Bloody Marys but this one was good, and it came with a pickle and a lobster claw!

For our meal, we got the two Lobster Rolls special with a starter and dessert for $125. We got the Maine and California Lobster roll, Mussels & Ciabatta to start, and a Key Lime Pie for dessert + we added the Garlic Biscuits too. The mussels and biscuits were AMAZING. The mussels were so fresh with an amazing fennel & garlic sauce. The biscuits were so hot and soft and moist! We devoured them so quickly, it needed no sauce. The lobster rolls were a tad bit disappointing for a place called Lobster Pound. It was good but nothing outstanding especially for the price ($40-50 is crazy). Our appetizers stood out so much to us and I'm sure the other food would be delicious as well, but the lobster rolls did not live up to my expectations. The dessert was good. They source it from a nearby shop that specializes in key lime pies and it was very soft and not too sweet which I enjoyed.

I would for sure come back to try the rest of the menu!
