Fried chicken was good, a little bit on the salty side, and not too greasy. The cole slaw was also good. Nice clean place. Would definitely come back when I'm in the neighborhood. You'll need to buzz to get into the restaurant, which is okay for security.

Response from the owner

So glad you enjoyed your visit, Eibi! It's wonderful to hear you liked the food and found our place clean. We look forward to welcoming you back when you're in the neighborhood!

Very disappointing experience at Pollo Campero. At 7:50 PM, customers are not allowed to eat inside the restaurant, even though it is still operating. On top of that, I had to wait more than four minutes for someone to finally open the door and acknowledge customers waiting outside.

If the staff doesn't want customers or isn't willing to provide basic customer service, it would be easier to just close the business. A restaurant should welcome its customers, not make them feel like an inconvenience. Poor service, poor communication, and a very frustrating experience overall. I definitely would not recommend this location.

Response from the owner

Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand your frustration with the service and communication at our location. Please contact us at cxus@campero.com with your review and the Jamaica location so we can look into this matter.

They close at 9 pm it's now 8:39 and they doors are locked I'm about to stop supporting this whole business the food is great but they treat the restaurants like it's their house how are the doors locked at 8:30 and there is money to be made and west Hempstead runs anyone that doesn't speak Spanish out of the restaurant I don't know how you guys deal with this crappy customer service but I guess the restaurants make so much money they don't need customers

Response from the owner

Clean, short wait, great deal with the early bird special. I always walk passed this place and now I regret it. I'm a fan. Was my 1st time and wasn't expecting a server. The sauce is great, horchata 🔥, Yuca fries hit. Refreshing spot for the area honestly.

After a long, hectic day, I just wanted something fast and satisfying and Pollo Campero totally delivered. This Guatemala-born chain has been around since the 1970s, and now I get why people are obsessed. It’s not your average fried chicken spot there’s something really comforting and nostalgic about it, even if it’s your first visit.

Pollo Campero was founded in Guatemala in 1971 and has since grown into a beloved name across Latin America and the U.S. What sets it apart from other fast-food chicken spots is its bold seasoning and Latin-inspired menu offering more than just your typical fried fare. It’s the kind of place where comfort food meets cultural flavor, and that’s exactly what I needed.

When I first walked in, it was pretty quiet, but not for long. As soon as I placed my order, the place started to fill up proof I wasn’t the only one craving something good.

I went with the 2-Piece Meal, choosing the Campero Fried Chicken (because obviously fried wins every time) a side of your choice and whether you want tortillas or a dinner roll I chose tortillas because this isn’t Texas Roadhouse, duh. The mac and cheese was simple and classic not overly creamy or cheesy, but comforting in that nostalgic, kid-on-a-weeknight kind of way. The tortillas were on the plain side, but I think they’re meant to be wrapped around the chicken or dipped in the sauces, which would make them shine a bit more.

Now the chicken? That’s where Pollo Campero flexes its roots. It was crispy, golden, and full of flavour seasoned through and through, not just on the skin. The inside was juicy and tender, and when dipped into their house hot sauce, it hit that perfect balance of heat and crunch. No wonder this recipe has been cherished for decades it’s based on a secret family blend of Latin American spices, designed to be bold, comforting, and unforgettable.

I also treated myself to the Campero Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and it honestly deserves its own spotlight. A thick, crispy filet of Campero chicken drenched in a spicy cayenne-habanero sauce, layered (technically) with three sweet pickles on a soft, buttery brioche bun. I say “technically” because I took the pickles off team no pickles here but even without them, the sandwich was 🔥. Crunchy, spicy, satisfying. It’s the kind of sandwich you finish and then immediately think about ordering again.

To complete the meal, I added yucca fries, which were a highlight on their own. Thicker than regular fries, with a lightly crisp outside and soft, almost creamy interior. If you’ve never had yucca (also known as cassava), it’s a starchy root vegetable commonly used across Latin America and the Caribbean. It’s got a heartier, more earthy bite than a regular potato fry, and it paired perfectly with the spicy sandwich.

From the golden-fried chicken that’s been perfected over generations to the thoughtful sides rooted in Latin comfort food, this place gets it right.

Response from the owner

Kimberly, it makes our day to hear about your flavorful experience at our Jamaica location! We're delighted that our Campero Fried Chicken and Spicy Chicken Sandwich hit the spot for you, and that you enjoyed the unique flavors and comforting vibe we strive to offer. Your detailed appreciation of our yucca fries and the nostalgic touch of our menu truly captures what we aim to provide. We love hearing that you found comfort and satisfaction in our offerings. We look forward to welcoming you back for another delicious visit soon!

I recently visited a Pollo Campero location and was accidentally charged for an item during a mid-week promotion. After reaching out to customer service, I was connected with the manager, Mr. Gilbert, who promptly addressed my concerns. Mr. Gilbert was attentive and eager to ensure that the mistake would not be repeated, and he provided a satisfactory resolution to the issue.

I always enjoy visiting Pollo Campero for their delicious offerings, clean environment, excellent service, and inviting atmosphere. My personal favorite is the grilled 4 piece chicken, which always leaves me satisfied with its mouthwatering taste. What about you? What is your favorite item on the menu at Pollo Campero?

We tried 12-Piece Family Meal with half grilled chicken & half fried chicken this time. The grilled chicken was so tender, juicy and flavorful. It’s much better and worth to order than the fried chicken.

The family meal came with 3 sides and tortilla or dinner rolls. The corn salad is our favorite, appetizing and healthy. The dinner rolls were too dry and blend, we would choose all tortilla next time.

Pollo Campero is definitely a solid place for fast food with reasonable price and great portion.

Response from the owner

Hsin So close to perfect! We would love to know how we can spice up your visit and make it the flavorfullest. ¡Gracias!

I'm so glad that I accidentally discovered this gem of a restaurant. This store's roots first began in Guatemala and I'm so glad that they decided to expand their business globally. There are several stores located throughout NY and NJ and several others located throughout the USA. This is family-owned business that is still owned by the patriarch of the family and has been in business for over 45 years.

This is my third visit to Pollo Campero. I can be completely honest but I didn't think that the food was going to be as good as it was. They definitely set me up because it was delicious and quite flavorful without being salty. There are many sides that they offer with the meals. I've tried the beans with sausage, fries, corn salad and mashed potatoes which were all scrumptious.

The fried chicken, oh how I wish that I had the secret recipe for this flavorful and tasty chicken. I love good fried chicken and this definitely suits my palate and made my tummy extra happy. The citrus grilled chicken, oh me oh my, simply delightful.

You can either takeout or dine in at Pollo Campero. If you dine in, you are asked to take a seat and your order is brought to you. The employees are very kind and helpful. There is music playing at a decent level. The atmosphere is quiet and comfortable where you can enjoy your meal and savor the food.

Pollo Campero is my new go to place for flavorful chicken and great service.

Response from the owner

Paulina Sounds like we delivered a flavorful experience and your entire experience from the service to the meal was perfecto! We appreciate the positive review! ¡Gracias!
