great dinner experience for a party of 7, and we were able to get seated early! The chicken pot pie was more soupy than expected but the pastry was amazing. The zero proof spritz was also delicious and glad they had zero proof options! Conveniently located across the Lincoln performing arts center.

Response from the owner

Hello, Lizzy! Thank you for the great review! We’re so glad your party enjoyed the early seating, zero-proof spritzes, and amazing pastry. Hope to see you again soon!

Wow! What excellent service! Our waiter was so lovely, and even introduced us to another waiter from our hometown! If that wasn’t enough, the food was also delicious. It was a great place to enjoy our meal before heading over to see the ballet!

Response from the owner

Thank you for the feedback, Emily! We’re so glad you had a memorable experience and felt right at home with our team. We hope you enjoyed the ballet as much as your meal. Looking forward to your next visit!

Had an awesome meal here before hitting Lincoln Center for a show. I think of PJ Clarke’s as an NYC institution and there’s a reason why the team has multiple locations in the city and has been around for so long.

They’ve got quality food and service you can count on with a relaxed, local vibe. I ordered an espresso martini to jumpstart my Friday night and the sticky ribs and cheesesteak egg rolls to start.

Ended up going for the Connecticut lobster roll that came with chips and was perfectly cooked and buttered. Service was great from the host to our helpful server and the meal was paced perfectly to get us out on time for our show. Will definitely be coming back.

Response from the owner

Thanks for the feedback, Stinson! We’re happy we could provide the perfect pace for your pre-show meal. Glad you enjoyed the Connecticut lobster roll and the local vibe - we can’t wait to welcome you back for another round!

Having dinner here after watching a dance performance at Lincoln Center with friends was an excellent choice. Fresh oysters paired with great wine and good company made for an amazing time. What really impressed me the most was the lobster in the lobster roll - it was probably the best and most generous portion of lobster we've ever had in New York. We all guessed that it must have been an enormous lobster. Definitely a place I'd recommend to my friends and definitely want to visit again

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for the glowing review, Grace! We’re thrilled that we could be the perfect ending to your night at Lincoln Center. It’s wonderful to hear the oysters and wine hit the mark. We can’t wait to welcome you and your friends back again soon.

Ambience is great and its availability fully depends on the Lincoln center. The place will be packed before and after a show!

For a place that’s known for their burgers, I wasn’t impressed. I did order a medium temp but the meat was dry. To their defense I didn’t mention this to the server, so not sure if this would’ve been fixed. Not sure how many tables he had but as we were finishing dinner he disappeared. We had to wait 15 minutes to grab his attention for our check.

Response from the owner

Thank you for the feedback, Crystal! It’s great you enjoyed the pre-show energy, though we’re sorry the burger and service fell short. Please message us at thepjclarkes@gmail.com so we can make this right for you.

Just had dinner at PJ Clarke’s in Lincoln Square. We were seated very quickly upon our early arrival for our 7PM reservation. From then on it was an amazing experience that the five of us will not forget. Two of us ordered Manhattans, they were excellent! Our group ordered a variety of main courses including Cadillac Burgers (which came with fries), branzino and chicken pot pie. All of us loved the food, the exceptional service and the warm atmosphere. The management was making sure that everything was perfect, a job well done. THANK YOU to the entire staff at PJ CLARKES LINCOLN SQUARE. Special shout out to Terrence, Diego and our charming waiter William who made us feel like family. Come experience a great night at this great location that offers great meals at reasonable prices!

Response from the owner

Thank you for your feedback M L! We are very sorry that your dinner was marked by so many inconsistencies, from the beverage availability to the temperature of your meal. While we are glad our manager could connect with you, we realize the experience as a whole did not meet our standards. We would value the opportunity to discuss this further with you. Please reach out to us at thepjclarkes@gmail.com.

American fare made well. A crowd pleaser! Your quintessential dark lit New York American restaurant and bar. You get quality familiar food and they’re not trying too hard to reinvent the wheel or be overly trendy. Try the burgers or something from the raw bar. I personally like the chopped sirloin dish.

Response from the owner

Thank you for the feedback, Gentaro! We’re glad we could hit the mark with the atmosphere and the food. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!

This is a traditional American fine-dining restaurant. The food is excellent. You can feel the dynamic American spirit. The service is excellent. Located in an affluent neighborhood, the clientele is also very sophisticated. This is a restaurant that caters to that discerning clientele. You can be one of them.

Response from the owner

야심아빠, it’s wonderful to read your thoughts about P.J. Clarke's Lincoln Square! We're delighted that you enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere and found our food to be excellent. We were here for ballet. Our server was without any energy and love for her work. Food and ambience in general were okay, but this location is more for traffic, not for quality.

Response from the owner

Hi Vyacheslav,

I appreciate you sharing your experience with us. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed the food and ambience during your visit for ballet. However, I’m sorry to learn that our server didn’t bring the energy we strive for. Your feedback is invaluable, and I’ll be sure to address this with our team to ensure a more engaging atmosphere in the future. We hope to welcome you back soon for an even better experience!

We stopped into P.J. Clarke’s in mid-December following a Christmas show at Lincoln Center, and we were pleased to find the restaurant very much open and buzzing with activity, even after 10PM.

I’ve been going to Clarke’s since my first visit to the 3rd Ave location oh, sometime around 1975! I used to hang out at the front mini-raw bar and have a few beers and an order of Chili.

Well, that was 50 years ago, times have changed, the Chili is (sadly) gone, but the vibe overall has not changed too much, even at this much newer location.

I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, called “The Cadillac” while my wife, who was not too hungry, chose the Chicken Vegetable Soup.

Service overall was very good, and while the soup was not our favorite (see the sad-looking photo, taken as it was placed on our table), the Cheeseburger held up Clarke’s reputation as having one of the best burgers in town.

Just to make sure I am not crazy, I looked up a few other recent reviews of the Chicken Soup.

One reviewer wrote exactly what I was thinking:

“I got the chicken soup. This chicken soup looked honestly like if I waited any length of time without touching it, she'd think I ate it already and what's left is just what I left behind. Take a look at the photo. It's not even filled halfway to the middle of the bowl. For $17 you should have full bowl of soup. It was literally 6 sips of soup and the entire thing was finished.”

I agree with this other reviewer 100%. So, I would urge the Clarke’s folks to look into this Soup situation. (By the way, I am not some "small portion" whiner... I dined at Le Bernardin for lunch this same day).

Other than the Chicken Soup issue… P.J. Clarke's was all good.

It was good to be back and I will keep returning to 3rd Ave, Lincoln Center, and even the new midtown spot.

Response from the owner

Charlie, thank you for sharing your experience and for being a loyal guest for decades! We’re happy you enjoyed the cheeseburger and the atmosphere. We also appreciate your constructive feedback regarding the Chicken Vegetable Soup and will review this with our team. We value every guest’s perspective, and your input helps us maintain the high standards P.J. Clarke’s is known for. Looking forward to your next visit!

I came here yesterday with my mom and sister before going to see a show at Lincoln Center. We were worried about finding a place to eat- since we had no reservation. But we walked past- and thought we’d try it out.
And I am so glad that we did! We were able to be seated right away. Our waitress (I think her name is Lisa) was fantastic.
I ordered the French toast, and my mom and sister both ordered burgers.
All three of us ate every bite of the meal. My French toast was so good. The Carmel drizzle was perfection.
My mom’s burger was cooked perfectly, and she said that it was really good.

We were so full- that we weren’t hungry for dinner.

We will definitely come back when in the city!

Response from the owner

Emily, thank you for choosing us and for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. We’re happy you enjoyed the food and service and hope to welcome you back whenever you’re in the city again.

Where do I begin? I had a reservation by myself. Wasn't crowded. I was seated right away. I had come to this place 9 months ago, so I figured I'd come again. I had a nice experience before. I was given a menu and then the waitress took literally 17 minutes to come back. I would have flagged her down but she never came back over to my area even once so I would have had to search the restaurant. I'm not doing that. Then as soon as I was going to say something, she came back. I got the chicken soup. This chicken soup looked honestly like if I waited any length of time without touching it, she'd think I ate it already and what's left is just what I left behind. Take a look at the photo. It's not even filled halfway to the middle of the bowl. For $17 you should have full bowl of soup. It was literally 6 sips of soup and the entire thing was finished. Less than 5 minutes. Then they brought my steak frites. I asked for medium. When I started to cut it, I realized it's rare. I couldn't even cut one bite. For the first time ever (I'll be 50 next year and have been out hundreds of times to restaurants in Manhattan), I asked them to take it back. The maitre D was wonderful, he made sure I got a brand new steak. I did and the frites and the steak was wonderful. I still had a nice time. And what little there was of the soup was tasty. The steak was very steakhouse quality level flavor. The gentleman across from me also said his steak was too rare and he actually asked for rare. I just am posting so maybe they'd be more aware of this temperature issue. It was mid afternoon on Christmas Eve 2025. I love you guys and hope to come back again.

Response from the owner

Hi Robert, we’re sorry for the service delay and for the soup and steak not meeting expectations at first. We do appreciate you giving us the opportunity to fix the steak and are happy you still enjoyed your time with us. Your comments about temperature consistency are noted and helpful. If you’d like, please reach out to us directly at thepjclarkes@gmail.com so we can make things right.

We were nearby and visiting a friend, and decided to grab some dinner. The restaurant was quite busy and we were seated downstairs. The area was bustling and a bit noisy. Our service was decent and the food was good.

Response from the owner

Thank you, Bruce! We’re happy you had a good experience and enjoyed your meal. Looking forward to your next visit.

This is a classic tavern located right by the Lincoln Center. So we were able to catch a show at the Met right after a delicious meal including fish and chips (like the red vinegar dip) fresh oysters and mussels, signature 1884 burger, buttery soft pretzel bites, warm and inviting bread pudding, rich espresso martini, and a bottle of Pino Noir! It was hard to stay awake during the show 😜This meal was served by a wonderful attentive waiter and his name is “Prince”!

Response from the owner

Christine, thank you for this amazing review! We’re happy you enjoyed everything from the oysters to our signature burger. Hope to see you again next time you’re in the neighborhood.

Was going to a show at the Lincoln center and this restaurant was right across the street so we decided to check it out on a recommendation from a friend. I'm so glad I did because everything about this place was phenomenal!!! I made a reservation online and we were seated as soon as we walked in the door. Our waitress came over immediately. Brought us water told us about the menu and that they were known for their burgers. So obviously that's what we had to try! It was absolutely cooked too perfection and the fries are shoestring fries and we're absolutely delicious. We started with a couple of cocktails and I was obsessed with the little old school red and white tablecloths they had as well. Every single person we encountered on this staff was friendly and helpful and wonderful. I cannot recommend this place enough. Prices were very average for New York but the atmosphere puts this place over the top!!! I will definitely go back!

Response from the owner

Thank you so much, Aimée! We love being a go-to spot for a great meal before a Lincoln Center show, and we’re thrilled everything from the service to the fries left an impression. Look forward to your next visit already!
