Staff was rude. We sat in first. In front of another couple. The waiter came in our waiting room and I watched him say to another waiter,” Do you want to switch ?, these guys don’t seem like they have it.” ( as he made the money gesture with his hands). They then sat the other couple before us even though we were there ten minutes earlier. That’s fine. Then when we sat the server seemed bothered, never made eye contact contact, never introduced himself. Flat out angry looking and just not interested. I still left a 25 percent tip on the very large bill of porterhouse for 2 , which had a lot of inedible parts of fat to it. Very disappointed as this was my sons graduation present.

Couldn’t get a reservation at the Brooklyn location, so we ended up visiting the Long Island location of Peter Luger Steak House instead — and honestly, the quieter atmosphere made the experience even more enjoyable

The restaurant feels much more peaceful and spacious compared to the city, which made the whole dinner feel relaxed and unhurried.

We started with the famous Sliced Bacon 🥓 and it was absolutely worth ordering. One slice is more than enough for two people to share — thick-cut, perfectly balanced between fat and lean, crispy on the edges while still juicy in the center.

Before the mains arrived, they brought out a few types of bread. My favorite was actually the plain one — simple but really good. Their signature Steak Sauce has a very classic, almost old-school flavor profile, somewhere between barbecue sauce and ketchup. Not overly refined, but surprisingly addictive 😄

For sides, we ordered:
• Sautéed Mushrooms
• Asparagus
• Sliced Tomatoes

Everything was solid overall. The tomatoes were especially good 🍅 — sweet, refreshing, and perfect for cutting through the richness of the steak. The asparagus was tasty too, although the bottom part was slightly tough.

And of course, the star of the night was their iconic USDA Prime Dry-Aged Porterhouse Steak 🥩

The portion was huge for two people — we honestly couldn’t finish it all. It arrived at the table still sizzling and dripping with butter, smelling incredible. One of the best parts of the experience was watching the server pour the juices over the steak tableside and carve it for us, which added such a classic steakhouse touch ✨

The steak itself was excellent — rich, flavorful, beautifully marbled, and cooked perfectly. You can really taste the dry-aging in every bite.

Service also deserves a mention. Everyone was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and when they noticed us taking photos, one of the staff members even came over and offered to take pictures for us 📸 which was genuinely thoughtful.

Overall, this felt like one of those timeless classic steakhouse experiences — not trendy or overly modern, just confidently good at what they do.
Definitely a place I’d recommend to friends, and I’d absolutely come back again.
The lunch menu at Peter Luger in Great Neck is an absolute must-try, especially for the legendary Luger-Burger. Served daily until 4:00 PM, this mid-day exclusive features over half a pound of their finest USDA Prime beef, hand-selected and dry-aged in-house. It is exceptionally juicy, perfectly charred, and packed with that signature rich, robust flavor. For the ultimate experience, getting it with a slice of their thick-cut, sizzling bacon and American cheese is highly recommended.
To balance out the decadence of the burger, the Caesar Salad was great too. It arrived crisp and fresh, beautifully tossed with a perfectly balanced dressing, a generous grating of Pecorino Romano, and crunchy, golden homemade croutons. It is exactly the kind of sharp, refreshing contrast you want with a heavy meal.
Beyond the top-tier food, the logistics of dining at the Long Island location are seamless compared to the city. The complimentary valet parking makes arriving completely stress-free, skipping the usual suburban parking hunt. Combined with the old-school, professional service and iconic wood-toned dining room, it is the perfect spot for a premium midday feast. Will be back.👍
I treated myself for a Bday Lunch and I was treated so kindly by the staff , I ate the bar and Shane the bartender was amazing and made sure I was good . This was my 1st time at the roslyn location. I came for the burger and its definitely a top 5 burger , the lambchops were great 👍🏾 wow
10/10 PL top tier
Very good steak, burger (only until 4pm) and apple strudel straight out of inglorious basterds.

Going through each, the beef maillard was very crispy but you do taste a little burnt on some edges. That said, excellent and tender piece of meat. The burger is very thick and simple, a little dry even when cooked medium but nothing a touch of ketchup didn't fix. Strudel was fantastic, no notes.

Service wasn't great - our waiter took a break and didn't inform his colleagues which left us hanging dry. Parking is also tricky and you need to valet and tip but there was a long queue when we came (even though restaurant was less than half full..) and had to wait over ten minutes on the curb.

Price is very high. I don't mind paying, but at these levels you might expect more.

Recommend the experience nonetheless but check your expectations and wallet.
I have been to this location and the one in BK many times before. But this time around, a buddy and I were in a mission. We’ve never had their burger before and have seen so many rave reviews on social media recently. So we tried it finally and it truly is a great burger as mentioned. I can absolutely say it’s better than most others I’ve had.
During a recent business trip, our group of approximately 40–50 guests was hosted at Peter Luger Steak House. While dining with a group of this size naturally limits some aspects of the individual experience, the evening was nonetheless memorable.
We began with an assortment of excellent breads and rolls, while bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon were continuously poured at the table. One of the most unique highlights of the meal was the appetizer: a simple plate of thick-cut tomato and white onion, followed by the addition of what I would describe as a substantial slab of bacon—closer to pork belly in thickness. Accompanied by a house sauce served in gravy boats, we were instructed to combine the elements. The result was outstanding—bold, balanced, and unlike anything I’ve had before.
This was followed by a light salad of arugula, romaine, and hearts of palm with a subtle vinaigrette, providing a nice transition to the main course.
For the entrée, guests selected from steak, chicken, or fish. I chose the porterhouse steak, cooked medium. The steak was dry-aged and prepared to perfection—tender, flavorful, and expertly executed. It was served family-style on large platters, accompanied by creamed spinach and a stuffing-like side dish. While menus were not provided, the quality of each item spoke for itself.
Service throughout the evening was exceptional. The staff operated with precision and coordination—clearly experienced in handling large groups—while remaining friendly and attentive. Glasses were consistently refilled, and the flow of the meal was seamless.
To conclude, we were served a variety of desserts including pecan pie, chocolate mousse, cheesecake, and key lime pie, all topped with fresh whipped cream and berries. I chose the key lime pie, which was an excellent finish to the meal.
Overall, Peter Luger Steak House delivered an outstanding dining experience. Despite the scale of our group, the food quality and service were remarkable. This is a restaurant I will not soon forget and would highly recommend. And don't forget your chocolate coin.
This spot just doesn’t disappoint it iconic, has great characters and Steaks that make you drippy to come back.
The steak for Two with Creamed spinach was amazing and mouth watering dripping with butter and peter luger sauce each bite was better than the last one and the French Frites were on point.
The space still looks like the original in Brooklyn, but a lot more accessible, valet parking, wood panel walls and the same feel of the Williamsburg location . No really lines for lunch.
We visited this restaurant for lunch during the week and had a delightful experience. We ordered the steak for two, accompanied by German potatoes and cream of spinach. The steak was cooked to perfection, with the filet side being particularly impressive. The sirloin side, while slightly chewy, had a rich flavor. The sides were equally delicious and complemented the steak beautifully. Our server, Teo, was exceptional throughout the entire meal.
Sizzling stakes - not bad.
Rest of food (spinach, german potatoes) - so so.
Great beer and drinks.
Dessert - awesome!
Nice touch with the chocolates at the end.
Tax charged on all the food and drink.
$48 tip was apparently not enough for our waiter.
The Manager Costa and my server Mino are phenomenal! I love coming here on all my special events to celebrate with loved ones. The cuisine is always on point and extraordinary service . Love the warm welcome staff!
Hands down the best steak I have had so far. We ordered the steak recommended by the waiter (the Steak for Two), and it was incredible:soft, juicy, and cooked exactly to the "medium" we asked for. The portion size is huge! My wife and I couldn't even finish 50% of it, so we packed the rest to go. We had it the next day, and it still tasted amazing. Highly recommend this location!
We had a wonderful experience at Peter Luger Steak House. The service was warm, attentive, and made us feel truly at home. The steak was cooked perfectly—crispy on the outside and tender inside—with very generous portions. The sauce was excellent as well, pairing beautifully with both the steak and the bacon, and helping to balance the richness of the meal. Overall, a fantastic dining experience!
It's a big boy Steak house so expect nothing less here. Had my son in law here from Colorado and wanted Peter Luger steak as he's been craving it since last time he was here. Everything from appetizer to dessert was excellent.
The server literally cut our steak with a spoon, and served it to us on our plates. Great flavor, still the same from when I was a kid. Can’t go wrong with simple perfection. Get the lyonnaise potatoes and the spinach. Also the best! Oh… get the coffee too! Seriously a surprisingly great cup!
