Absolutely incredible. I was alone as a “regular” person. Service was amazing. The food was absolutely incredible. The signature oysters and pearls is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The gentleman who did the wine pairings was so personable and educational without being pretentious or snobby. I loved every minute of this experience.

Per Se? Directly in from of Central Park? A horse ride after dinner? We love Per Se ! ! Delicious, classy, elegant & romance by the fireplace. Excellent food. Excellent service. Beautiful ambiance & location. We had the tasters menu & what a delight it was! Per Se is well deserving of its 3 star Michelin rating! Could Per Se be a candidate or reason a new 4 Star system is created?Orrrr, was that the reason for Michelin removing 1 star from Per Se's neighbor? Masa... Hmmmmm. We shall find out! We highly recommend Per Se!

tl;dr - The cooking is staggering. The service (for our meal), unfortunately, was not.

Let me be honest: the food at Per Se is some of the best we've ever had. We went to celebrate a birthday, and the kitchen made sure every course felt like a gift.

The Oysters and Pearls, a sabayon of pearl tapioca with Island Creek Oysters and Regiis Ova Caviar, is a classic for a reason. And experiencing it firsthand makes that reason completely clear. It was the highlight of the entire meal and one of the best dishes we have ever tasted. Full stop. In our entire food journey, very few things have hit that level

The Butter-Poached Maine Lobster came next, served over Carolina Gold Rice with Tokyo Negi Curls, a Tamari Beurre Blanc and Ginger-Chili Oil. It was extraordinary. Even the bread course, a Lemon Poppy Seed Dutch Crunch with Hilary Haigh's Animal Farm Butter, was memorable.

The Elysian Fields Farm Lamb with pommes purée, marinated sungold tomatoes and roasted young squash was precise and deeply satisfying. Dessert was a full act of its own. The Berry Trifle, built on a champagne-soaked vanilla génoise with Harry's Berries strawberries and mascarpone mousse, was beautiful. The K&J Orchards Cherries with Valrhona Opalys White Chocolate was refined and lovely. And the birthday Gâteau d'Anniversaire, pistachio pain de gênes with raspberry-rose ganache and mascarpone mousse, was a perfect, genuinely moving close to a remarkable meal.

Which is what makes the service so frustrating to write about. It was poor. Noticeably, unexpectedly poor for a restaurant of this caliber. Our server was cold and stiff. He felt completely off and the attentiveness wasn't there. It felt completely misaligned with everything the kitchen was delivering.

And yet. The food was so extraordinary that we would still go back. That's how good the cooking is. When the front-of-house finally matches the kitchen, this place will be completely untouchable.

Had such a wonderful experience at Per Se! We celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday here and everything made the night feel so special. The food was amazing, beautifully presented, and every course felt very thoughtful.
The service was also incredible — everyone was so attentive, warm, and welcoming throughout the dinner. Definitely one of the nicest dining experiences we’ve had in NYC!❤️

Had the opportunity to visit Per Se for an executive dinner with a small group. One of the biggest strengths of this place is its outstanding location and ambiance. The service was excellent, and the team took great care of us throughout the evening. The food presentation, quality, and detailed explanations from the staff were exceptional and reflected the restaurant’s fine dining standards. While the overall experience was memorable, there is still some room to enhance the taste profile of a few dishes, which could make the experience even more appealing to a wider audience.

Wonderful dining experience, with delicious food, a vegetarian menu and many non-alcoholic mocktails to choose from. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire dining experience, the staff were very welcoming. The opulence of the desert segment of our meal delighted us and left us fuller than we anticipated. Thank you for an excellent evening.

It was a wonderful meal! Service was amazing and friendly, the food was so good. They've still got some Per Se classics and honestly, they don't feel aged at all. The staff are all ready to talk, but also know when to walk away. The bourbon milk punch was so good, as well! This place is generally out of my budget, but if I were to dine for a special occasion again, I would definitely come back. I took the worst photos in the world, unfortunately.

An unforgettable dining experience at Per Se, and one that truly lives up to every one of its three Michelin stars.

From the moment you step into the main dining room, you’re immersed in elegance, a beautiful, serene setting overlooking the park, elevated further by the warm glow of the fireplace that creates an inviting and refined ambiance.

The tasting menu offered both vegetarian and meat/fish options. I chose the vegetarian menu, and it was hands down the most delicious tasting menu I’ve had in a long time. Every dish was thoughtful, balanced, and impeccably executed. The mushroom pie was absolutely out of this world- a luxurious blend of exotic mushrooms, seared to perfection, rich yet incredibly refined. The Doppio Agnolotti with butternut squash emulsion and chestnut confit was a standout as well, a flawless combination of sweetness, depth, and texture.

The meat menu was equally impressive. The perfectly seared Mediterranean Lubina and the delicately cooked farmed venison showcased remarkable technique and flavor, leaving nothing to be desired.

Service elevated the experience even further. Samantha, our server, was exceptional- warm, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable about every dish, making the meal feel both personal and seamless.

Per Se is truly worthy of each and every star. A flawless culinary journey from start to finish, and an experience I will remember for a long time to come.

I can't imagine a much more opulent and elegant way to welcome the New Year. It is said, that you should welcome the new year in the way you would like your Year to be. Cheers to being off to a magnificent start! We also decided to do the recommended wine pairing which was a fantastic choice! Each dish was artfully created.
Admittedly, one of my favorite aspects was the very thoughtfully curated gift bag we were sent home with. What a treat to enjoy on New Year's Day! The gift that keeps giving!

Background
Per Se is synonymous with a rigorously precise, French inspired tasting menu experience. Even its shorter menus are designed to reflect the full philosophy of the kitchen rather than serve as a compromise.

Ambience
The dining room is dimly lit and serene. While we were not seated in the main dining hall, our table faced the New York skyline, which added a cinematic calm to the evening. The space felt formal yet not stiff, elegant without intimidation.

Service
Service was impeccable and precise. Staff were attentive without hovering and thoughtful without excess. The presence of a vegetarian menu executed with equal seriousness deserves special praise.

Food and drink
The four course menu was skilfully crafted and coherent from start to finish. Each plate showed restraint and clarity. The true revelation was the dessert course. It was a masterpiece of balance and whimsy, arguably the most compelling and memorable sequence of the meal. It is one of the best if not the best dessert. Kudos

Overall
Per Se proves that greatness is not dependent on length or spectacle. Even a shorter menu delivers depth, confidence and emotional payoff.

A memorable meal with family before Christmas. We celebrated my mom's 70th birthday while dining as well. This was our second visit to Per Se and it was consistent with my first visit. While I wasn't blown away this time, the dishes were executed with high degree of skill and technique. This visit just felt average in terms of the menu making an impression. For the price tag I feel like there needs to be a bigger wow factor. The service is impeccable though! I would definitely recommend dining here for a splurge and a special treat.

Every dish was spot on. They are accurate and precise. The caviar echos with other ingredients in its dish, instead of a hard add-on that says “okay, now you have your caviar”. The dishes are very classy, and these dishes become common in other Michelin restaurants, but per se’s twists still stand out. The two meat dishes were simple but so delicious, for the first time after visiting tens of Michelins I feel the meat courses are not just positional but nicely executed and impressive. The grand finale of desserts is a bit too much. The interior of the restaurant could use some updates, as they have been Michelin three stars for decades. The new year ring was very much fun and nice. Memories were made.

For a three star michelin restaurant I was overall satisfied but not completely blown away. This was our first restaurant of this caliber so expectations were high. The servers brought different energy to the table, where the main server brought mixed energy through his conversation. The service was clearly scripted and followed to a T. At times it felt like an orchestra and it was awesome to see plates being placed just so. I appreciated that the menu clearly stated that the tip was included in the service so I felt no need to tip extra. The amuse-bouche was confusing. The first one I tried was the salmon cone which they are known for and it was SPECTACULAR. The second one I tried was the korean sweet potato and that felt so out of place being that this is a french restaurant. The third was the oddest, it reminded me of a hotdog but congealed and there was a bit of gristle that I found which was not pleasant. Dare I say spam like. Being that this was not on the menu I am not certain I can really judge them off of this. I opted for the upcharge for the appetizer and I thought it was just ok. It was an everything bagel which I thought was subtle and the cone amuse was much better. The lobster was amazing I never had lobster cooked that way and to that temperature, truly a masterpiece. The bread was pumpernickel which some may find not pleasant but I really appreciated the work that went into making the dough because it was checkered. The butter tasted just fine, I really enjoy french butter so I was left wanting something more from the animal farm butter. The beef short rib was to die for, I would gladly come back for this. The crispy edges, the tender middle, the FLAVOR. Spectacular. The hassleback potato was really flavorful and tender. There was a liver component on top and it really tied the whole dish together. The desserts were just ok. I have had to die for sticky toffee pudding and what was given was just not it. It was however beautifully presented. The gingerbread ice cream was delightful. I love ginger and I loved this. The zebra cake had fresh mint and didn't taste that good. Now, they came around and gave extra dessert which I found delightful. We were given these amazing donuts that I thought tasted like funnel cake and I LOVE funnel cake, this faux cappucino that was ice cream, the creme brulee macron topping was great but the flavor was just plain tasting. Then they brought us MORE dessert, we were given each bon bon which we found the best flavors were PB&J, Passion Fruit and Walnut. As we left we were given a copy of the menu which was cute and we were given these sandwich cookies that had this delicious shortbread with amazing chocolate ganache between them. I had high expectations for 3 stars and Per Se met most of them. We dined in the Salon Lounge and paid $150 deposit for our reservation. Understanding that this was a limited menu, we would love to experience the main dining room's menu, however, I really enjoyed the Salon Lounge atmosphere, decor, and furniture. I only peeked in the main dining hall so perhaps it is even better. We are excited to try Thomas Keller's restaurant in Yountville, The French Laundry with even higher expectations.

Per Se is an all around experience. We celebrated our engagement here and it was truly an unforgettable all around evening.

Per Se has been a bucket list item for me for over a decade. The experience did not disappoint - the food, I will say, not every dish was amazing. It is my first 3 star experience so I don’t have a good comparison, but at the price point I expect EVERY dish to blow me away.

They also had the largest wine list I have ever seen, they give you a whole iPad to look through!

The meal started off so strong with the classic oysters and pearls dish. Seriously this set the bar so high and left me feeling like I will never be the same after this meal lol. It’s been several months since we dined here and looking through my photos, the rest was fairly forgettable. I will note that every dish is truly a work of art, and some were prepped in a way that you couldn’t even imagine food being prepped that way. But again, nothing blew us away in terms of taste. The main meat dishes were nothing special.

The dessert was plentiful and very “classic”. Nothing out of the box or super imaginative. We were actually so full by dessert we had a few of them boxed for us to take home.

The service is top tier. The staff really made us feel special and everyone was congratulating us on our engagement and it felt truly genuine.

The interior and overall vibe feel classic. I read a review it feels dated but it feels so classic NY to me.

Overall, it was a special night and a bucket list item crossed off the list. Unforgettable experience for sure but our expectations were set so high that not every dish hit the mark. Thank you to the team at Per Se for a memorable evening!

I feel truly honoured to have had the pleasure of dining at this fine establishment. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with hospitality and were sat immediately (no wait at the door). Every little detail of this place was special. The delicious food, the impeccable wine pairings and world-class service makes this place an absolute stand out. I have been fortunate enough to dine at many Michelin star restaurants all over the world, but this place will always have a special place in my heart. It truly does deserve its 3 Michelin star rating! We left happily full from our meal, and they even packaged our dessert course for us to enjoy later at home. Thank you so much for the incredible experience and for making myself and my guest feel so welcomed. 10/10 highly recommend.
