We went as a party of 6 and were seated almost immediately. The interior is beautiful, really impressive. Sushant, our server, was great! The food was really good, especially Paneer Kalimirch and Veg Chettinad. We got complimentary lunch appetizer and desert which was so nice of the restaurant. Really enjoyed the experience, food, service and the vibe. Will definitely recommend to everyone looking for an upscale Indian restaurant that can fill your hungry bellies while you explore the city.

We went in expecting something a bit more special, especially since we were told there was a minimum spend per person for lunch. For the price, the food was pretty average, and honestly similar to what you would get at many other Indian restaurants. It wasn’t bad, but it definitely didn’t stand out. We have been to better Indian restaurants in the area, and honestly much better ones outside of New York as well.

What surprised us most was the price of a small cup of tea, which felt unreasonably expensive for what it was.

Service was just okay. Water glasses weren’t refilled, and we had to call someone over ourselves to ask for more water. Overall, the experience didn’t really justify the pricing or the expectations they set.

Excellent Indian cooking. The food was clearly freshly cooked with whole spices as well as ground spices.

Plenty of fresh ginger too.

The Chicken Kali Mirich was strongly spiced as we like it, and the Palak Gosht was one of the best we’ve had.

Kabin was really attentive and took the time to tell us how things were cooked. The chilli cheese and garlic naan was a great accompaniment.

I was looking for a place for Indian food near Penn Station, and this branch of Patiala Grill showed up. I’ve been to the other place, liked it, but it’s small. So this is much bigger and is an upgrade in the decor and more. The food was very good. And the service from Dalston was even better. Really enjoyed our business lunch and the options available in the lunch special. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to grab a good Indian meal near Penn Station. Or any meal near Penn Station.

So amazing!!! Some of the best Indian food we’ve ever had. Dalston was our server and he did a phenomenal job taking care of us and recommending dishes. While we do not have any dietary restrictions, there is a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options to choose from. The atmosphere and decor is welcoming and tasteful. We travel to NYC at least once a year, and Patiala will be a staple for us from now on. Order the Qila Mubarak, if you are wanting a cocktail. You won’t be disappointed!

Was here for my wife's birthday. It's one of the few places with jain vegan food options. Sushant and Raaj both were superb in service. Food was great. Soya chops BBQ is a must. Mocktails highly recommended. Birthday celebration was superb.

This restaurant is a step above the rest. I wanted to have ethic food with my family on a trip to the city. We were able to make our reservation only a few minutes before the time we wanted to sit down. Our waiter, Raj, was super attentive and suggestive of items we might need more of. The garlic naan was one of the best I've ever had. We also had chicken tikka and a couple different kormas. The food was so good we couldn't stop eating till it was gone. The chicken was so tender! The atmosphere had music ambience, but was pleasantly relaxed and quiet compared to reviews we've seen. They we're also super great about dealing with our children. The only initial thing that put us off was the deposit for the reservation, but with the area this is in I can understand that they want to guarantee the bill. The pricing was very similar to the deposit, so the end bill was only a few dollars more. The tip was also added automatically, which is fantastic. I usually tip a good 7% more than what they took, but don't adjust when tips are automatic. I will say that I read about a service fee, which they did not charge us above the normal bill. Overall, my family spent the day talking about how full and satisfied we were from the food. We're already making plans to go back.

We got chicken biriyani and fish chettinad with naan! Both tasted great! Portion sizes were a little small but I think that’s on par with higher end restaurants.

Gratuity is already included in the bill. For table sizes over 4, additional service charge added.

Restaurant is clean and well decorated/ maintained.

I went to try some Indian dishes that we don't get in most Indian restaurants. I ordered Murgh Biryani bone in chicken steamed with spices and long grain basmati rice in a traditional Punjabi preparation and Galouti Kebab - an Awadhi dish made with finely minced meat patties seasoned with herbs and cooked with ghee (clarified butter) and cream. They are known for their soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture and are served with mini paratha pancakes. My waiter Kabin was attentive and friendly!

Beautifully designed aesthetic in this north Indian, Punjabi style restaurant a quick walk from Penn Station.
The murgh biryani and the Naan were fantastic! The biryani was so well spiced and comes out in the traditional clay pot with the dough topper. The mango ice cream at the end was also delightful!
Service was quick and kind. Great spot all around. Check them out!

I’ve been here before and had a great experience—the food is wonderful and the serving staff is consistently excellent. Our server this time was just as warm and attentive, and the meal itself was lovely.
Sushant is marvelous, anticipates well and ask great questions even to kids. He was attentive and created a great experience for us.

However, the host at the front made our arrival much more difficult than it needed to be. We stopped by to check if they had room for our group, and while there were clearly tables open, we were told they “don’t do walk-ins” and could only be seated if we booked online. We made the reservation on the spot and were seated immediately, which made the interaction feel unnecessary and dismissive.

It would’ve been much more helpful—and far more respectful—to simply say they were close to full and preferred reservations to accommodate us. The serving staff continues to be great, but the initial experience at the door could really use improvement. That front desk guy sounds like he was auditioning for “Most Unhelpful Human of the Year.”

Sucks that you have to make a reservation. Place isn't actually as packed as they make it seem. They close of large sections at a time to make it seem full.

Reservations require a non-refundable deposit of $30/person and that is the minimum spend as well. We kept getting pressured to order food to hit the minimum. We ended up ordering and spending more but the pressure was annoying. Also be ready for all the judgy looks from Indian families that come here to dine very very quietly or super loudly... there is no middle ground.

Paneer Lababdar was a miss... but luckily they swapped it out for tried and tested Kadai Paneer which was much better. Plain naan was freshly made and decent as well. The highling however was the Daal Makhni which was scrumptious. That's what will get us back through the door again next time. It didn't come with rice so a side order of basic basmati rice for $8 was necessary.

Pricey for the quality of food and minimum spend requirements are a bit of a scam given you can just walk in if they open their entire available seating area.

Outstanding Indian Cuisine & Exceptional Hospitality

Patiala Indian Grill at 240 West 35th Street is an absolute gem in NYC. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with genuine warmth and professionalism, and that experience continues throughout the entire meal.

The food is exceptional, rich, authentic flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and beautifully prepared dishes that reflect true Indian culinary craftsmanship. Every bite feels intentional and elevated, whether it’s the tender meats, aromatic curries, or fresh, perfectly cooked naan. You can tell quality and consistency are a priority here.

A special shout-out to Sushant M. and his entire team for delivering top-tier service. Their attentiveness, knowledge of the menu, and pride in what they serve truly set this restaurant apart. They make you feel like more than just a customer, you feel genuinely taken care of.

If you’re looking for authentic Indian cuisine with five-star flavor, service, and atmosphere, Patiala Indian Grill is a must-visit. Highly recommended, and I will absolutely be back.

I am a huge fan of Indian food and this place did not disappoint. Amazing Gobhi 65
Florets of cauliflower, marinated & fried starter. Jammed packed and full of flavor and the 3 dipping sauces were just the icing on the cake. We got the vegetable soup and Lamb Korma Slow-cooked lamb, saffron, creamy gravy, and cashew nuts it was so tender and creamy just amazing and the Prawn Biryani which was opened table side it was awesome to experience and was so tasty. The naan was so full of flavor and perfect soft top and inside yet crunchy exterior bottom. Their onion chutney was the most amazing sauce I have ever tasted 10 out of 10. We didn’t have a reservation and were treated like we belonged. I would give this place a 9.9 out of 10 but google says 5 star is the max so 5 stars it is. Put it on your must hit list. Well Done Patiala Indian Grill & Bar Well Done.

Great from stepping in to leaving. The food was very fresh, came out quick and most importantly flavorful and delicious. Chicken chettinad was fantastic lots of flavor and chicken was soft. The staff and our server were very attentive. Sushant our server was super friendly and helpful with making food choices - super knowledgeable about food and flavors and was very patient. Definitely recommend. We didn’t get alcohol this time around but their drink cocktail looked super good and definitely a must try for the next time we come here. This place is also great for large or small parties there is a de Inc floor area as well. It never sounded like it was super loud where you can’t hear the person next to you even though the restaurant was full. Great overall atmosphere and very warm and pleasant.
