A nice frenchy restaurant in a very good area.

Food wise : it is good, but I might have expected a bit more considering the price of it all. It was still good. I got the lamb steak, tasty, but got not the best cut with lots of nerves.

Atmosphere : it sounds like a brasserie. We sat outside because the inside was very much too loud. Which explains the 4 stars.

Service wise : they were super amazing and here to make sure we have a great time.

My first time here was absolutely amazing! I couldn’t get enough of the bar steak and the vanilla ice cream. It melted in my mouth like butter. A huge shoutout to Francheska! They were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

a rustic quaint restaurant. service was very friendly and attentive. ordered the usual:
- oysters
- scallops
- escargot
- mussels

my son ordered the duck confit which i’ve never had here but he said it was overcooked and tough but he still ate it and the flavor was good and the potatoes were delicious. however, he said he would not order it again. he really enjoyed the flavor of the scallops though. and he really liked the level of saltiness from the garlic butter in the escargot. the warm baguette was a nice touch.

overall a very nice meal, but that duck was the one dish that brought the grade down for us. oysters were standard.

update: restaurant reached out to correct their subpar dish and i didnt even ask. that customer service is above and beyond. they really strive to make the experience better. i have to give them respect for that. updating my rating from (actually 3.5 stars to 4 stars) for now

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for the feedback, gale. We are always looking to improve and greatly appreciate the 4-stars. We hope we can earn that extra star on your next visit!

10/10 on so many levels. Celebrated my birthday with the best food, amazing ambience, and great service. There’s honestly nothing not to love on this menu. Highlights were the escargot, steak tartar and lobster frites. A meal I’ll never forget. Thank you!!

Walking the meat packing district late morning, and found a super place for breakfast/brunch.
Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere and DELICOUS food. I had the salmon benedict and my wife had the quiche. We would order both again...and again.
The smoked salmon was flavorful and the hollandaise had just the right amount of tang. I'm a potato guy, and their take on breakfast potatoes was a flavorful first.
The quiche was fluffy and yummy with a fresh tasty salad. BTW, happily, the slice was much larger than the photo would imply.
All in all a place we would visit again.....enjoy!

Response from the owner

We seriously have the best guests out there! Thank you so much for the shout out, John. We greatly appreciate the 5 stars and look forward to seeing you again!
Walked in for lunch on a random Monday and was given a table near the bar, it was a great location to take in the restaurant.

Service was prompt and friendly. I tried the new “veal tongue” appetizer which was actually quite good. I dont know that I would ever eat it again, but the light mustard and olive oil along with the potato medallions made for a really interesting dish.

I then had the duck confit off the entree menu and it was one of the best ive had. Not dry at all like a lot of duck confit you tend to get at other places. Comes with a really nice sauce and generous amount of potatoes as well. I didnt take a photo of it, sadly.

I would definitely come back, I had a great time.

Bill came to $92 after tip.

This is a special shout out to the bar staff at pastis; in particular Naomi and Thelmo. They’re Holding it down at Pastis in Chelsea and I have to say; they’re the best bartender duo in midtown. Do yourself the favor in sit at the bar and order a gin martini and oysters then look out for their daily specials. You have to try the escargot and if you’re fortunate enough to get a seat at the bar on a Thursday evening, get the lobster risotto 10/10 experience 10/10 bar staff

Pastis is one of those places that just gets everything right.

What I loved most is the style, it has this old-school, industrial New York vibe in that classic Audemars Piguet brick wall building. Exposed brick, warm lighting, and a really authentic, timeless atmosphere.

The food was excellent. Simple dishes, but done properly with high-quality ingredients and great attention to detail. Exactly what you expect from a place like this.

Service was smooth and professional, even though it was busy.

Overall, definitely a spot I’d come back to. Great for the vibe, great for the food, and just one of those places that feels right.

We seriously have the best guests out there! Thank you so much for the shout out, Dominik. We greatly appreciate the 5 stars and look forward to seeing you again!
Even during a snowstorm Pastis was packed and lively. I have been meaning to get brunch here ever since I watched the scene in SITC where Carrie and Petrovsky iconically enjoy a glass of champagne and oysters here. So now that I’ve finally visited, I can affirm the food is delicious. We started with a mimosa and then split the Trout Amandine, Buttermilk Pancakes, Gruyère Omelette, and Pommes Frites. Our waiter was funny and did give us a look for the combination of entrées but we had no regrets at all. The buttery lemon sauce in the trout was mouth watering and the pancakes were a treat - mildly sweet and fluffy. All is to say I’ll definitely be back I get it now.

Response from the owner

Thank you for such a complimentary review, Sachi. We’re excited that you found our food and service to be five-star worthy. We are looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future at Pastis.
It was a good experience. The servers were great and very attentive. Expect a wait during busy times even with a reservation.
The food was nice and was served quickly.
The toilets had some fun decorations in them.
The booths made the restaurant seem quite private even when the whole restaurant was full. There was no difficulty hearing conversations.

I went here with a friend on Friday morning around 10:15. The vibe and atmosphere was great. My only issue was our server, I believe his name was Gerard, though I can’t be certain as we only saw him twice the whole time we were there. Once to take our purser and then to hand us the bill at the end. From the minute we sat down, it seemed like we were a bother to him. He was extremely short and even after thanking him, we weren’t met with any responses. Not even a smile or a “You’re welcome”. When we were ordering, my friend asked for their opinion on the turkey sausage vs the pork sausage. He huffed and said, “I mean…”. He was obviously annoyed at the question and just shrugged, giving us a blank stare. We tried to give him the benefit of the doubt by acknowledging that it might have been an off day for him, but then we noticed he was beyond chatty and friendly with the table next to us. It was our first time at this location and we were so excited to try it out. Unfortunately, the interaction dampened it. It also felt like a slap in the face to then receive a bill suggesting a 25% tip. Although, of course, we still tipped.

Other than that, everything else was perfect. The rest of the staff all had smiles and it seemed as if everyone had a pep in their step. Really nice to see as we both work in the food industry and know how difficult it can be sometimes. The food portions were really generous while still being delicious. We both ordered pancakes and loved how fluffy they were! The cappuccino I had was also very tasty. The prices were fair for everything we ordered. Overall, I’d consider going back.

Went there for Thanksgiving and it was absolutely phenomenal! The food was some of the best I have ever tasted. The sticky toffee pudding was 5+ stars. Service was impeccable. If you go for Thanksgiving, make sure to get reservations as soon as they open up. The place was absolutely packed.

This restaurant is very conveniently located in the meatpacking district and the interior is amazingly decorated. We went on a Wednesday evening with a reservation and the restaurant got pretty packed around 6pm. We tried their beef tartare, sautéed spinach, scallops, escargot and mussels with chips. Our favourite was the escargot, it came with freshly baked baguette for you to dip in the buttery garlic parsley sauce. Overall everything was good but nothing hit the spot, hence the 4 stars.

Response from the owner

We chose a beautiful Sunday morning in rainy New York to go out for brunch with friends, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. There were six of us, and we were given a lovely round table where it was comfortable to sit and talk. The restaurant was full, yet the hostess greeted us with a smile and kindly showed us to our table, even though two of our friends were running late. That was especially nice, knowing how strict New York restaurants usually are about seating incomplete parties.

Each of us ordered something different, and everyone was happy with their choice. I had an omelet with Gruyère — soft, delicate, and absolutely delicious. It came with perfectly roasted potatoes, cooked in a special way that made them extra flavorful. My friends had salmon Benedicts, Norwegian eggs, and croque-madame — everything was excellent.

We especially remember the French toast with strawberries and cream — heavenly! And for dessert, we shared profiteroles with ice cream, which were out of this world.

The staff kept refilling our coffee and making sure our glasses were never empty. The atmosphere was lively and cheerful, full of people and energy. Even the restroom caught our attention — surrounded by shelves of wine bottles, it felt stylish and unique.

We left feeling like part of a fashionable New York crowd — full, happy, and already planning to come back.
