NOBU has made itself into a PF Chang's, meaning it's an upscale Vegas-style convention destination.
What NOBU isn't, is the Michelin star restaurant it once was. When we dine at restaurants of this caliber, we always post pictures of the creative dishes coming out of the kitchen. The only photo worth posting after our visit was the ice cube with NOBU printed on it. Sad.
Two of the novel signature dishes printed on the menu were "withdrawn for the next month for adjustments". Bad sign. The remaining dishes were competent but no better than a hundred other Japanese restaurants in town.
Recommendation: Go there for business. Don't go there if you're a foodie or for date night.

Nobu Downtown
195 Broadway, NY, NY 10007
Not easy to find, at all. Im a native New Yorker and I had no clue!
The people all around, had no clue either!
We found it, nestled between these glorious and majestic 30 foot pillars!
It's a beautiful restaurant, I like it better than Nobu 57.
They had a live DJ, which I truly enjoy. The sound system was absolutely perfect. We vibed and grooved, yet could hold a conversation. There is no dancing here.
It was my wife's 47th birthday celebration dinner and was she impressed! The food, the drinks, the service and the ambiance was just right! And I mean- really!
Directly, on the same block is a beautiful view of The Freedom Tower in all its glory!
Great for photos! I definitely recommend Nobu Downtown, if you can find it!

This place was fantastic—highly recommend! It’s definitely worth it, so save up your money and pennies because this has officially become one of my go-to spots. It really made my New York trip.

Had been here for a corporate dinner with a reservation for 15 people, but they didn’t really try to accommodate us together and eventually split us across two separate tables. We ordered the chef’s special expecting it to be their signature best, but unfortunately it felt “special” only in price, not in taste. It seems like they are relying more on their brand name now and have lost some of the flavor and quality they were once known for.

That said, the staff did a good job accommodating special dietary requests, including vegetarian options and allergy considerations, which we appreciated. Overall, the experience was mixed — good service and flexibility, but the food did not live up to expectations.

We came here for lunch. Place is around the corner from broadway. They do not have any signs but posted the glass. We had reservations. We were promptly seated and it’s downstairs. The place started filling up with mostly business people.
We ordered from the pri fixe menu plus also from the cold apps. Pri fixe is $45.
We ordered the oysters, yellowtail w/ jalapeno, lobster tacos as apps. Mains were tenderloin and shrimp. They both come with a side of rice. Dessert was house gelato and mochi ice cream.
Apps: oysters tasted fresh and has hint of saltiness. Yellow tail with Jalapeño was good especially with the sauce. Lobster tacos were noting to rave about. One bite and that was it.
Mains: Tenderloin was cooked perfectly but did not care for the sauce as it was bland. Mix it with rice. Portions are pretty small.
Shrimp with vegetables was cool evenly and good without any msg taste.
Dessert: gelato ice cream was good and not too sweet or overpowering.
Mochi ice cream was ok.
Overall: you can easily drop a dime in this place . We did not order any drinks. Portions are small but we went for lunch to try it out.
Service is prompt. Reservations are recommended. For me I do not think, I will come back unless I’m willing to splurge $$$

Visited Nobu Downtown, def lives up to the name. Upscale but still warm, with a great lounge upstairs and a more intimate dining room downstairs.

Food was clean, refined, and super fresh. The black cod with miso is a must. We also tried an off-menu pasta…. very fusion, not traditional, but interesting.

I really have no words for how amazing the food is, the oysters, that yellowtail jalapeño, the crispy fried rice with tuna tartar, shrimp tempura rolls, I literally can go on and on. A bit pricey but it’s well worth every penny!! Oh and the drinks 👩🏾‍🍳 💋 DEFINITELY COMING BACK

Exactly what you'd expect from Nobu. I love all their restaurants and this one is no exception. Everything we ordered was top-notch, and the service was just as great as always. I recommend sitting by the sushi bar if you're in the mood for somethjng a little more eccentric. 11/10

Nobu in Tribeca is where Japanese cuisine meets global ambition and the result is a dining experience that has influenced restaurants worldwide for decades. The black cod miso is the signature dish and it deserves every ounce of its legendary status buttery sweet perfectly caramelized and so simple that it seems impossible it could taste this good. The yellowtail jalapeno is another masterpiece clean fish a hint of citrus the heat from the pepper and you understand why people have been ordering this since the restaurant opened. The sushi bar is top tier with fish flown in daily and prepared by chefs who treat every piece like it matters. The omakase is the way to go if you want the full experience let the kitchen decide and trust them completely. The dining room has that Tribeca energy where everyone looks like they belong there and the vibe is buzzing without being loud. Nobu Matsuhisa created something that transcended Japanese food and became a global brand but the Tribeca original still feels special. It is where the story started and you feel that history when you walk in. The sake selection is outstanding and the cocktails are creative without being gimmicky. I have eaten at Nobu locations around the world and this one remains the standard. Some places earn their reputation and then coast on it. Nobu earns it every night.

The food was amazing. The besr sushi ever. Nobu has the best. This spot is amazing, a lot of celebs come here such as Rhianna etc. the only thing I was disappointed on was then we wanted to celebrate my kids birthday and my anniversary I didn't get that warm feeling. They just brought the cake out with a candle without any excitement. That's the only thing I believe they need to work on.

Over the weekend (Sunday) I was taken here for my birthday. Restaurant wasn't busy, so it was a quiet evening. It was our 1st time. Our server Sigar (apologies if I spelled that wrong) went over the menu with us & helped us choose. Our drinks, the crispy rice, black cod, doughnuts & everything else we ordered was very good. Our waiter was attentive and very nice to us. I plan to go back soon.

I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience was a letdown from start to finish. Despite having a reservation, we were forced to wait 20 minutes while the reception staff treated us with arrogance and dismissal.
The dining area is in the basement; it was incredibly loud, stuffy, and poorly ventilated. It felt suffocating rather than high-end.

The Food:
We were a table of four and spent $550, yet left completely unsatisfied. Most hot dishes were oily, heavy on seasoning, or lacked quality.

• Glacier 51 Sea Bass ($56): Supposed to be truffle and miso, but had zero flavor of either.
• A5 Wagyu New Style: A waste of premium meat. It tasted overwhelmingly of generic soy sauce.
• Squid Pasta: Essentially just wok-fried vegetables with squid. I’d expect this at a casual Chinese restaurant, not here.
• Shiitake Salad ($30): Way too oily.
• Miso Soup ($9): Tasted exactly like instant soup.
• Salmon Tartare: Heavily over-seasoned and the portion size was pathetic.
• New Style White Fish: The flavor profile was just weird.
• Grilled Salmon ($40): Oily and unremarkable.
• Sushi: The nigiri ($8/piece) was average at best. The Salmon Tacos were too salty, though the Lobster Tacos were passable.

The Service:
The service was as poor as the food. Haha when I left a standard 15% tip, he sneered at me.

If you are looking for authentic Japanese food or a pleasant environment, go elsewhere. Nobu worldwide seems to be resting on its name rather than quality. Don't go.

My experience at Nobu Downtown was absolutely amazing. The service was impeccable—attentive, professional, and perfectly timed. I tried the tasting menu, and it was truly worth it. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. From start to finish, everything was delicious. Highly recommend for a special night out in New York!

Every single dish we got was so good!! Fresh fish with yummy sauces. We asked for recommendations and our server suggested 2 specials which were both so 🔥🔥🔥 chutoro with truffle… salmon with japanese pear… and their signature miso cod. Worth the price! Will def be back!
