We visited here from Colorado at the end of May for the Flower Power and Summer of Moomin special and were blown away by the variety of plants and exhibit creativity. We especially enjoyed the rainforest in the conservatory, but there is so much more to see! I would highly recommend a visit as it is a great way to spend a very relaxing and colorful afternoon.

We bought tickets beforehand and had no wait. There is also a tram that you can take around the park if you do not or cannot walk a lot.

I went on a group tour.
Learned about the rise of LSD.

The staff was lovely, super cheerful to explain whatever you need. The exhibits were gorgeous and the gift shop was reasonably priced

Got a succulent for 8
And a moonin Lego set for 14

The yarn tree made by a local artist was stunning and bright, very on theme with the peace movement of the 60s.

It's a nice place to go for a good walk and pics.

Not only that but the cafe for food is a solid meal. Prices not bad and the food was actually pretty good for a cafe within a confined area.

The New York Botanical Garden is much more extensive than you might expect from “just a park,” making it a great destination for families. The grounds are very spacious and offer a wide variety of landscapes, including beautiful wetlands, outdoor gardens, and impressive indoor flora displays in the conservatories. There is plenty to explore, and you can easily spend several hours here without getting bored.

One downside is that the Garden Train runs far too infrequently. Given the size of the property, more frequent train service would make it easier and more enjoyable to get around, especially for families with children or visitors who prefer not to walk long distances.

Overall, it’s a beautiful and diverse botanical garden that offers a relaxing day out, but improved train frequency would significantly enhance the visitor experience.

I love coming here for the different exhibitions. Even if you don't go to the exhibitions, there are trails and the native plants and other areas to look at. Sometimes I go with just ground admissions and find myself enjoying the walk for an hour.

If you're going for the first time to this location with a friend with plans to see the exhibit, then plan for about an hour.

Maybe definitely an extra hour or two more if you're going to walk and look around since there are tons of other things to see.

You should definitely wear sneakers and take pictures of anything you like!!

New York Botanical Garden will always hold a special place in my heart. I was raised in the Bronx, and as a teenager I even had the opportunity to work here, so coming back always brings back a lot of memories.

There’s something peaceful and timeless about this place. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained, and no matter what season you visit, there’s always something special to see. For me, it’s more than just a botanical garden, it’s a place connected to my roots, growth, and a lot of meaningful moments in my life.

If you’re from the Bronx, you know places like this become part of your story. Definitely worth visiting, whether it’s your first time or you’re coming back for the memories.

Absolutely amazing. The grounds are so well maintained. Because it's a botanical garden the scenery changes with the seasons. The special exhibits are indeed special and worth taking time to appreciate and enjoy. I think a membership is a worthwhile investment as it encourages you to visit often and it supports a beautiful part of the area.

I absolutely love visiting gardens and spending time outdoors in NYC, and the New York Botanical Garden is always at the top of my list. I make a point to visit every now and then, but my recent trip for their new, temporary orchid show was truly special. The massive floral installations were stunning, each one beautifully decorated and thoughtfully crafted. What made this exhibit even more meaningful was how it captured my memories of being a native New Yorker and growing up in New York City. The creative touches, like the laundromat, newsstands, car wash, train stations, and pizza shops, brought back so many fond memories. This was an unforgettable experience that perfectly captured the spirit of the city through breathtaking botanical art. Highly recommend!

What a beautiful day at this amazing huge botanical garden! We were here in April, they had this gorgeous orchid show. Blooms everywhere, lilac, cherry etc. The park is big, you can walk it you can ride it. There is a free tram in the garden. Couple of cafes, museum. Would love to come back. Tickets were 39 $ per person, parking 22 $. They offer yearly membership, but we decided not to get one. Overall amazing experience, staff super friendly and polite.

Whether you’re a local or a tourist, the New York Botanical Garden is a must-visit. While the seasonal Holiday Train Show and Orchid Show are personal favorites, the diverse gardens offer beauty year-round.
Even on busy weekends, the atmosphere stays relaxed, with courteous crowds that make it easy to linger and take photos. Staff are friendly snd helpful.

Before leaving, be sure to stop by the gift shop—especially during the Orchid Show—for an incredible selection of plants to take home.

Came to see the Orchid exhibit from Mister Fantastic Flower and was delighted with the whole experience. It was early in the season, so a lot of the outside grounds hadn't quite sprouted yet, but the inside exhibits were beautiful and well taken care of. The grounds are massive so I recommend either taking a tour or wearing some really good shoes if you want to see everything in just one go, but quite frankly there is so much to see that it would probably be in your best interest to do multiple visits! Every season has something new to offer, yes even in the winter with their holiday train and plant exhibit! Everything is well labeled for your information and plenty of learning opportunities for all ages. Any nature lover will be in heaven here. Plenty of ways to get here, driving in, subway/bus, or metro north will all get you there without too much hassle.

This was my first time experiencing the Orchid garden at NYBG.
I was like a kid in a candy store.
I am a huge orchid lover and the variations and their different colors and the type of the orchids had me squealing with excitement.
Kudos to Mr. Flower Fantastic for transforming NYBG into a NY Jungle experience of a concept.
From the car wash showcase to the laundromat to the pizza spot to the bus stop everything was beyond artistic and captivating.
I genuinely can't wait for next year!

The train show was a great experience. It was a rainy weekday and there was space to move around and take photos without getting into others way. We could read the signs and take time to look at the intricacies described in the writeups. We were a group of 6 and could wander at our own pace. I have also visited during the orchid show on a rainy weekend when there was little room to move. I would highly recommend.

We had the most wonderful time visiting the New York Botanical Garden for their annual Holiday Train Show! 🚂✨

It’s truly an incredible, magical experience. The centerpiece is this sprawling miniature New York City landscape, where model trains zip past nearly 200 landmarks. What makes it so special is that every single building—from Rockefeller Center to the iconic skyscrapers—is meticulously crafted entirely out of natural materials like bark, seeds, vines, and twigs.

My favorite part was seeing the detailed models of historic, and sometimes long-gone, architectural treasures, like the original Penn Station. It’s a beautiful tribute to the city’s past and present. If you're looking for an inspiring and detailed holiday outing, I highly recommend checking out the sheer artistry on display here.
