I arrived at 430 expecting to stand in line for a counter seat. While we waited we had rhubarb Sophie which was so refreshing and perfect balance of sour and sweet. It was Mother’s Day so I knew it was going to be busy, but the hostess was able to seat us for a table with a 90 min limit, as there was a reservation coming in after us. They were so accommodating and we didn’t feel rushed at all. We ordered the maple bourbon and dirty martini which were both cold and delicious. We then had grilled oysters and French onion soup to start, plus we ate the entire complimentary baguette with butter. It was definitely the best FOS I’ve ever had and my bf who isn’t even a fan of oysters devoured them. For our entree we shared the black label burger with cheese and the cavatelli. They were both 10/10 but the fries were a little overcooked for my liking. When we sat down we ordered the chocolate souflee, because we had heard it had an hour prep time. It was the best dessert Ive ever had. Would absolutely return for more!

Best steak in New York? This place is always mentioned…

Minetta Tavern is one of those spots that keeps coming up when people talk about top steakhouses. The meat quality is on point, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. The burger is just as popular and honestly worth trying as well.

It’s not cheap, but if you’re looking for a classic New York steakhouse experience, this is one of the safest options. Worth it if you want something iconic and consistent.

Stopped here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. I've been wanting to eat here and sadly the place had no open reservations. Luckily we walked in when it opened and found a couple of bar seats.

I had the French Onion Soup, the Black Label
Burger and a cocktail. Every thing was awesome.

As you can see from the photo of the check the prices are brutal, but honestly all the food was amazing. Everything was top notch. Even the fries that came with the burger were great.

If you're ok with the price you won't be disappointed. The staff was great, the cocktails were tasty.

I went with a buddy before a Knicks game but would definitely come here again with my wife since it was so good...

a classic ny institution that lived up to hype and frankly more.. While everyone is focused on the burgers which are 10/10, the vibe and feell of the west village are above and beyond. small cozy intimate yet semi noisy ,fun and a fairly large seating area . A special mention to Victoria the 5 pm maitre de and Claudia the manager until 5pm for there amazing old new york customer service. They work under high pressure with tons of guests yet remain calm cool amd collected.

This place immediately felt like a solid find the moment I walked in. The atmosphere was relaxed, clean, and thoughtfully laid out, making it easy to settle in and enjoy being there. Nothing felt rushed or chaotic.

The staff was friendly and attentive, checking in naturally and keeping everything running smoothly. It felt well organized and comfortable from start to finish.

As someone who travels full time and streams along the way, I really appreciate spots that feel welcoming like this.
Follow me on Instagram @AutumnTheNomad

Minetta Tavern is part of the Core Four of New York’s great burger joints – the Four Horseman of the Esophagus. Wood paneled and intimately cozy, Minetta is a creaking tavern from another time. Their signature dish is the Black Label Burger, served with caramelized onion. Servers discourage diners from adding cheese, advice I happily ignored on my last visit. The burger is indeed one of New York best – tender and delicious, dripping flavorful juices. This is a pricy burger weighing in at $40, but for that you get one of New York best burgers and an explosion of tasty fries. More than fair.

I was so excited to finally try this classic spot!

Service overall: 10/10.
The restrooms were clean, which is always a good sign.

For food, we tried the Black Aged Burger (medium) and… wow.
Honestly, it was orgasmic 😂 A burger without cheese? Yes — and it was incredible. You could really taste the flavor of the meat: soft, juicy, buttery, and perfectly cooked.

We didn’t have cocktails, but we ordered wine and it was great. Also, they definitely pour more than 4oz, which makes it even better 😉

Totally recommend!

A historical NYC Tavern gem near Washington Square Park! We went early, sat at the bar to enjoy wonderful bone marrow, French onion soup, famous burgers, broccolini, and beer! Cosy restaurant, great service - Worth the trip!

Real wonderful Black Label Burguer, a real experience. I didn't have a reservation, it was not a normal hour but find a place for one and staff was very receptive. Really one of the best burgers I tried on NYC. Maximum recommendations.

Order the GRILLED OYSTERS!! They are spectacular. Always a great time at Minetta. We made our reservation for late lunch or early dinner and this was lovely around 3pm on a weekday. Still a great menu. Cocktails are great. Husband got the espresso martini and it was very well made as was my Bloody Mary. I ordered us both prosecco as well that was delicious. The waitstaff was wonderful- Ashlyn was our server and she was very accommodating as was the manager on duty, Clark. From the fresh warm bread to our entrees everything was delicious. The Duck Ragu with Pappardelle pasta was great, al dente, homemade to perfection. The filet mignon was cooked very well, charred nicely on the outside. Sides was lovely and the desert was rich and delicious! Highly recommend for a nice brunch or dinner or even just cocktails and the grilled oysters.

What a NY gem. So glad we planned my Birthday weekend to include Minetta. Was concerned about even while having a reservation that we would have to wait but luckily got seated within 3 minutes! Front room by bar is super crowded due to people waiting on their tables, but was so happy to be in the back room. We had a table facing out and appreciated the epic table! You can see the old school NY vibe in the pics. Our server was super efficient as well as the staff that helped with water and bread. My water glass was filled every few minutes! Husband had the maple Old Fashioned and said it was one of the best he’s ever had (and he’s for sure an OF snob)!! For food we started out with the onion soup which was excellent and the petit salad (not so petit)! For an entree we actually split the black label burger PLUS cheese which was absolutely incredible. Fries were insane too. Passed on dessert as we were just so maxed out!

The food was good (it was my first time, ordered the onion soup as well as the black label burger) - perfect dry gin martini, delicious fries and burger, amazing depth of flavor in the soup - but I wanted to write about the service. I came as a solo diner on a Sunday evening (around 6.15) - just in the city for a week for work and looking for dinner after my travel - and everyone, from the hostess to the staff checking my coat to the staff behind the bar, was so nice and easygoing, and struck a perfect perfect balance of making me feel like I belonged even though I was by myself and the restaurant was actually packed. Sometimes when you’re alone and in a place that’s so super buzzy and everyone is in a group it can make you feel a bit self-conscious but all the staff was so friendly and didn’t make me feel unwelcome at all that it made me feel so at ease. I don’t know how they do it. And it’s like the same brand of easygoing smooth service too - friendly without being overbearing with or formal or like they’re trying too hard.

Came in for a late lunch excited to try this place. The atmosphere is great - old school tavern, unassuming from the outside, lively bar. The service was excellent from start to finish and the cocktails and drinks were delicious. The food left a little bit to be desired. The apps we tried were great (bone marrow 8/10; steak tartare 7/10). We had a range of entrees at the table... the moules frites were the highlight. The pappardelle was nothing special. The steak frites included a generous portion of steak that paired well with the bearnaise sauce and the fries were outstanding. However, there was no difference between the medium and medium rare that was ordered for the table, the kitchen went a bit overboard on the pepper seasoning, and the steak knives we received were less sharp than the butter knives we already had. Overall, worth checking out at least once. I'd come back if I was in the area to try the burger.

We made just it in time for seats at the bar, which isn't easy to do for 3 people during the holiday! Excellent and friendly bartender. The onion soup was good but not the star. The duck was nice but not the star. We had 2 burgers perfectly to temperature and a Steak Frites. That steak was the best bar steak that I have ever had. The prices were in line with the quality- with the exception of the Old Fashioned. $35 for a cocktail isn't reasonable. Obviously we will come again but I will stick to wine.

We boldly walked in on a Friday night for our anniversary and were seated at the bar after an hour wait - not too bad! You go for the atmosphere and the service, it was lovely. Drinks were delicious and we especially loved the squab and the chocolate soufflé (pictures don’t show how big it is, we couldn’t finish it! Despite our best efforts). I might get hate for this but the burger was just all right for my tastes. I like cheeseburgers and don’t know enough about beef to appreciate the dryagedness🤷 we would 100% go back for a special occasion.
