Cakes, pound cakes and other desserts are good and tasty. Wide variety of cakes. Berry Napoleon and Mousse cakes are delicious. It’s best to reserve cakes ahead of time on holidays otherwise there’s a really long line. Hostess for seating is friendly but the counter service is hit or miss. There are several tables along the wall on one side of the long room across from the cases for cakes so seating can be tight.

Huge thanks to the amazing staff at Martha’s Bakery in Bayside for helping me with this order! Not only did the cake survive an hour drive to New Jersey completely intact, but it was also a massive hit. We got a 10-inch cake and there wasn’t one piece left. Everyone loved it!

Martha's really nailed the presentation on this one. The contrast between the dark chocolate cake crumbs on the sides, the white whipped cream swirls, and those bright red maraschino cherries makes it look so festive.

Martha’s Country Bakery

Martha’s Country Bakery in Bayside is a reliable neighborhood spot, especially convenient thanks to its location near the LIRR station. It’s easy to drop in whether you’re meeting friends or just picking something up on the go.

The éclairs stand out as one of the better items on the menu—well-balanced with a satisfying cream filling and a proper pastry texture. Their pound cakes are also worth noting: generously portioned, moist, and consistently flavorful across different varieties, which aligns with what many regulars appreciate about the bakery.

The coffee, while perfectly serviceable, doesn’t quite reach the same level as the pastries—it’s standard rather than memorable. That said, the overall experience is solid, with a wide selection of classic American-style baked goods and a comfortable, casual atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

In short, it’s a dependable choice for pastries, particularly if you’re in the area and looking for something indulgent and accessible.

This chocolate Oreo buttercream cake was absolutely delicious! Plus, the bakery itself has such a warm and inviting vibe—highly recommend stopping by! 🍫🎂😊

The lines are long sometimes. But they move along pretty fast. It's crowded because their deserts are to die for. Our favorites are a slice of "German chocolate," and the delicious "carrot cake."

Still bustling at 10 PM on a Friday night! The vibe inside is warm and comfortable, and the takeout system is very efficient. Staff are friendly despite the rush. Their massive dessert selection caters to all tastes—grabbing some to-go is the perfect way to end the day.

Waited a long time when is only two of us on line. Instead of taking care of customers presents at the store they were busy packing for delivery. Spent 56 for a whole Napoleon cake and the layers are soft and definitely not made fresh...not worth the money

I ordered my cake last minute the night before my birthday and it was ready the next day in the afternoon. The name was supposedly spelt wrong, mistakes happen. It was corrected but other than that really no other complaints. It was a delicious red velvet cake. Everything about the cake was good the customer service over the phone was amazing. Now all my brothers want the same cake for their birthdays!!!

Absolutely one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a bakery. Staff are so rude!!!

We came in as a group of 9 people for dessert after a great dinner. Before we could even look at the cakes, the host with blue hair stopped us and asked if we were dining in. We said yes and were told to wait 15–20 minutes, despite the fact that multiple tables were clearly vacant.

When we politely asked if the empty tables could be combined, we were rudely shut down. We even offered a very reasonable compromise—splitting our group between two available tables (3 people at one, 6 at another)—and were still refused. No explanation, no effort, just attitude. The staff was completely unaccommodating, dismissive, and unfriendly. For a place that constantly has lines, the customer service is shockingly bad.

We gave up and ordered to-go, and that was another mistake.

When we got home, the cake slices were shoved together into one tiny box, destroying them. Icing smeared everywhere, slices stuck together, and nearly impossible to take out without falling apart. These cakes are expensive, and this level of careless packaging is unacceptable and lazy.

The taste was the final insult. The so-called “best strawberry shortcake” was terrible. The strawberries were extremely sour, the sponge cake was drenched in simple syrup, and the overall flavor was unpleasant. Nothing special, nothing premium—just poorly made and badly presented cake. Calling this the “best” is laughable.

Rude service, zero accommodation, careless packaging, and disgusting cake. Completely overrated and absolutely not worth the money. I will not be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone.

I went to this store to buy a Napoleon cake this afternoon to celebrate my family's birthday. To my great disappointment, they actually sold me a cake that was made overnight. The cake was already crooked when I cut it, and the skin was not crispy when I ate it. That's too much. I'm very angry.

Martha Bakery is Simply the Best!
Love it for a quick coffee or a show-stopping dessert, this place consistently delivers.
Their selection is incredible, balancing classic bakery favorites with unique, delicious creations. I always look forward to trying something new, but I have a few must-have recommendations:
* Tiramisu: Absolutely perfect. Rich, creamy, and the coffee-soaked ladyfingers are spot on.
* Strawberry Shortcake: Fresh, light, and wonderfully sweet—it's a classic done flawlessly.
* Tres Leches Cake: Incredibly moist and perfectly soaked. It’s heaven for anyone who loves milk cakes.
* Chocolate Mousse Cake: Decadent and airy, a pure indulgence for chocolate lovers.
Beyond the cakes, their cheesecakes are outstanding, and the smaller treats like their mousses are fantastic for an individual craving. Their coffee is the ideal companion to any pastry.
The quality, variety, and taste are unbeatable.

Their Napoleon cake is really something special. If there’s a better one out there, I honestly haven’t found it yet. The layers are light and crisp, the cream is smooth, and everything just comes together perfectly. It’s the kind of dessert you end up thinking about afterward.
Definitely worth trying if you’re anywhere near Bayside.

Update:
Their Napoleon cake is still the best — that hasn’t changed at all. Because of how much I love it, I decided to try their chocolate layer cake this time as a $50 birthday cake for my coworker, just to try something different. Unfortunately, compared to the Napoleon, the chocolate layer cake was very ordinary and a bit disappointing. For the price they charge, the flavor really didn’t match the value. I’ll definitely go back to the Napoleon cake next time.

This is the best Italian bakery there is. I lived in Bayside a few years, and I can’t tell you the love I have for this place. I travelled all the way from Puerto Rico just to have the best tiramisu you can get in NY. I love you guys! The service is spectacular, the pastries and sweets are outstanding, and right in the heart of Bell Blvd…doesn’t get better than that!!

1 star for the staff. I asked for whipped cream to go since I’m going to eat it with in ky car right away. Staff said they do not provide whipped cream to go since only last for couple seconds.
I can’t believe even I request it. And she gave me such an attitude too. If u tell me I’m sorry we do not do that since it’s to protect the best quality. But not when u RUDE. So im going to buy my own just because.
So mad
