Tasty lobster and crab boils. Seasoning is a bit salty for my liking. Too many potatoes in the boil. Very reasonable pricing.

Decent food at a reasonable price point. However, I was a bit disappointed with the lobster—it didn't taste very fresh and had the texture of something that had been previously frozen. Everything else was fine, but I’d probably skip the lobster next time

Honestly the lobster rolls are really small for the price they charge. 4oz for $28. Meat was really firm and well sessoned. The lobster bisque is nothing mindblowing to be honest. Oysters were fresh. But we cant really tell the different between each grading.

The Lobster Place is a spot I’ve circled back to for years. A great stop in the center of the action inside Chelsea Market.

Popped in on a Monday this time—less crowded, easier to settle in and actually enjoy it.

Lobster roll and fries, no need to complicate it. Fresh lobster, lightly dressed, warm roll, everything in balance.

Sat for a bit, people watched and enjoyed.

Stopped by this lobster spot after visiting the High Line and were pleasantly surprised by both the service and the quality of the food. We started with a few oysters—absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. Then we had the steamed lobster with fries, which was just excellent.

It can get quite busy, and finding a seat might be a bit of a challenge during peak times, but it’s definitely worth it. The lobster is on the pricier side, but even the small one was more than enough for two people to try and enjoy. Overall, a really great experience.

Hands down a must visit for all of your seafood needs!!
I was too engulfed by the food I forgot to take more photos, basically the food was finished then I remembered to take photos 😂.
Another spot added for my future NY trips 🙌
Do yourself a favor and try all of the oyster options, lobster roll 😌, sea urchin and smashed salmon burger 🤤

If you’re finishing a walk on the High Line, this is the perfect pit stop. It’s located right at the end of the park inside Chelsea Market—pro tip: enter through the High Line side door to save yourself a trek through the main market crowds!
The Food
The quality here is top-tier. While the prices are a bit on the higher side, the freshness justifies the splurge.
• The Lobster Roll: A total standout and an absolute must-order.
• Whole Lobster: Sweet, fresh, and perfectly prepared.
• Oysters: They have a fantastic selection from across the East Coast. The ones we tried were incredibly clean and briny.
The Experience
We visited on a Sunday in the late afternoon. Despite it being a weekend, the line moved quickly:
• Wait to order: Minimal.
• Food prep time: About 10 minutes.
Bottom Line: It’s a great spot for a group of friends to share a spread. It’s busy and a little pricey, but for the location and the quality of the catch, it’s a classic NYC experience I’d definitely recommend.

Tried the oysters here and they were super fresh. The place is clean, and ordering is fast and easy. No tipping needed, and you can pick different types of oysters.

Prices are a bit high though. It is fine for a quick snack, but it can get pretty expensive if you are trying to fill up.

Absolutely a hit and delicious seafood market at Chelsea Market. Came here for lunch and enjoyed our entire experience and meal. Lobster options are plentiful. We debated between a lobster roll or steamed lobster and opted for the latter. Also got a shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque soup, and a cold refreshing brewskie.
Meal was heavenly and service was friendly as well.
Tip: come when they open or you will be waiting in a long line.

5 stars for Lobster Place and two thumbs up!
Thank you!

Very unique place to stop and eat while visiting Chelsea Market. They offer many options from a fresh raw bar, sushi bar and seafood from the kitchen. The also serve alcoholic beverages here as well. You are responsible for finding your own sitting, so if you spot a potential spot grab it up. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was great, there was lots of staff around to assist and we absolutely loved the atmosphere. Definitely recommend trying this restaurant out.

Located in Chelsea Market, The Lobster Place has a bright, lively seafood market vibe while preserving touches of the old Nabisco factory.

Along with live Maine lobsters, you’ll find a great selection of fresh local seafood, including oysters, clams, sushi, and classic clam chowder.
Even just walking around is part of the fun, making it a must-stop spot when visiting Chelsea Market!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Fresh lobster rolls in a lively atmosphere!"

Great spot for a quick seafood bite in Chelsea Market. I ordered the Roe Boat Lobster Roll ($52) and it was fantastic. The combination of fresh lobster and caviar was perfect. 🤤 The beer selection pairs well with the rolls too. Just a heads-up: it gets super busy, but the vibe is part of the fun. Definitely worth the price for the quality!

Once I got to Chelsea Market, I beelined straight to The Lobster Place for their lobster roll, and honestly, it hit the spot. It’s super quick, super convenient, and I love that they literally have a glove and cutlery station ready to go—like they somehow knew I was coming and didn’t want lobster butter all over my hands.

The roll itself? Good. Fresh, tender lobster with that classic buttery, lightly toasted bun. It’s the kind of snack you can grab while wandering Chelsea Market without committing to a full sit-down meal. Was it life-changing? Not quite. But was it worth the stop? Definitely.

For me, it sits at a solid 4/5—tasty, reliable, and exactly what you expect from a busy spot that’s perfected the art of fast seafood. The pricing is fair for New York standards, especially given the portion and freshness. Service is quick and efficient, even with the usual crowd. And the setup makes it easy for anyone who just wants to grab, eat, and get back to exploring.

Overall, I’d give The Lobster Place a strong 4 stars. It’s a great option if you’re in Chelsea Market, craving something classic and comforting, and want zero fuss. I’d come back the next time I’m in New York—maybe to try more from their seafood bar.

xx kellychan360

Stopped by for a lobster roll, ended up having sushi and oysters too!

The lobster roll was $28 pre tax. Was not disappointed. Full of flavour and plenty of meat.

Huge selection of fresh oysters available, with great waiters to explain the characteristics of each.

Sushi was amazing, really well seasoned and nice temperature. Fish smelt very clean and was well handled, nice balanced fat content and cut along the grain.

Overall the seafood experience here was great and a must visit if you are in Chelsea market.

I stopped by The Lobster Place in Chelsea Market and ordered the large lobster roll, and wow, it did not disappoint! The lobster was incredibly fresh, tender, and perfectly seasoned. Every bite was savory, buttery, and absolutely delicious, packed with plenty of lobster meat with no skimping at all.

Yes, you’ll pay a pretty penny for it, but honestly, ha ha, it’s worth every dollar. The quality and flavor make it one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had.

I’ll definitely be visiting Chelsea Market and The Lobster Place again soon. If you’re a seafood lover, this is an incredible lobster roll you don’t want to miss!
