Omg the food is 10/10, drinks are 10/10. Vibe is good and chill but fun. I enjoyed my time here, will definitely be back. The Mac with the oxtails I was full but still eating. One thing... I did get an email that happy hour would be from 5pm-8pm that day and it wasn't. A bit of false advertising but my experience remains great.

Where do I even begin? My husband Bryan and I had a NYC City Clerk ceremony followed by an intimate dinner with 25 of our loved ones at Kokomo, and it was one of the most special, intentional, joyful, and love-filled experiences of our lives.

I discovered Kokomo because I knew I wanted our wedding celebration to be in Williamsburg — a neighborhood that holds so many memories for me growing up in the Bronx and exploring the city as a kid. We flew in from Los Angeles and truly made it a full wedding week experience.

I planned the wedding myself, so I had been communicating with Joel for months leading up to the event. We reserved the Champagne Room, which felt like its own beautiful oasis. As a Jamaican-American woman, it meant so much to know my disabled mother would feel culturally comfortable, welcomed, and safe in the space and with the food.

From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, attentive, and calming. Our server especially helped ease my nerves while we were finalizing seating and guest details, and after that, I genuinely did not have to worry about a thing.

And the food? Absolutely incredible. Truly perfection. As a vegan, it meant so much to fully enjoy every part of my wedding meal without compromise. The rum punch was fantastic, our guests loved the open bar package, and the entire evening flowed so seamlessly. The aesthetic is pure island luxury — elevated, warm, vibrant, and beautiful.

The communication from the owners and management team was excellent throughout the entire process, and I even had the chance to finally meet Joel at the end of the night after months of planning together, which was such a lovely touch. I was also able to personally thank the chefs. We even accidentally left my bouquet behind, and the team kindly helped us retrieve it the next day.

Kokomo NYC is officially a staple in our family now. I already know we will celebrate future milestones there and visit often whenever we are back in New York. It makes me proud to support a Black Caribbean-owned business that creates such meaningful experiences with so much care and excellence.

I truly cannot imagine our wedding without Kokomo, and I’m so grateful they were part of our story.

🎥: @lensofher

Had a great experience at Kokomo. We ordered the sofrito roast chicken, fried crab rice, koko pasta flatbread, and jerk infused wings everything tasted really good. The atmosphere was nice and the service from Rossen was excellent. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Definitely coming back.

So Sunday Bruch is a vibe!!!

I had a great time here and WestIndian/Jamaican food is always a vibe…

I would check it out again.

One of my party wasn’t happy about seeing the bottom of her glass during our bottomless drinks session. Food came out good. Only gripe I had was some items on menu wasn’t available.

Overall a great experience and service was just ok. But still had a good time.

Went here for brunch with friends because the vibes looked great and reviews were solid. We had a reservation right when they opened, but they were running about 20 minutes late — not the best start.

Once seated though, the space is beautiful. We were in a sunlit room and it really set the mood. Our server was great, and we ordered family-style. Just a heads up, they have a separate “Sunday drunch” menu so options are a bit limited.

For apps, we got the curry crab gyoza which was a very small portion (6/10) and the roasted mushroom truffle flatbread which was the highlight of the meal (8.5/10).

For mains, we tried the biang biang Rasta noodles with salmon (6/10) and the sofrino roasted chicken (5/10). Both were a bit underwhelming.

I’ve heard their drinks are great but we didn’t try any. Food-wise, I was a little disappointed, but still had a great time catching up with friends.

I went to Kokomo for my birthday on April 10th and the vibes were definitely there.
My friend loved the ackee dumplings, lamb chops, and bread pudding. I got the jerk chicken—flavor was there but it was way too spicy for me, and the plantains weren’t ripe, which was a letdown.
Now the rum punch? 10/10. I had two and would absolutely go back just for that!
Only downside was the service—our waiter said he doesn’t eat the food, so recommendations were basically nonexistent, which was kind of strange.
Overall, cute spot with great drinks, but service and a few food details could be better.

Response from the owner

Thank you, Channing, for celebrating your birthday with us and for your thoughtful feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the vibes and rum punch, and we appreciate your notes on the food and service—we’ll be addressing this with our team. We’d love to welcome you back for an even better experience next time.

Very nice place with attentive host and hostesses. First time here as well with a good girlfriend of mines. The only issue I have is the seating. I cannot sit where there is people sitting on both sides of me it was so impersonal and a trigger for me lol smh. No real privacy cause you can literally and figuratively see the people be quiet to listen to what u saying. Other than that everything else was good. Oh I did not like the jerk chicken they were too big and not appealing to me at all.

Response from the owner

Thank you, Roro, for your thoughtful feedback and for dining with us. We’re glad you enjoyed the service and overall experience. We appreciate your comments on seating and the jerk chicken, and will share them with our team as we continue to improve. Next time, please let us know your seating preference—we’d be happy to accommodate for a more comfortable experience. We look forward to welcoming you back to Kokomo NYC soon!

I visited Kokomo on a Saturday evening and experienced a lively Afro-Caribbean atmosphere, bold flavors, and a strong music-driven vibe that made the night feel energetic yet still intimate.

Ambiance:
The restaurant is dim and intimate, though lighting varies depending on where you’re seated. The décor feels luxurious Afro-Caribbean, with rich colors, greenery, and intentional lighting fixtures that create a slightly romantic feel. The DJ was doing a great job setting the mood and definitely brought a Jamaican-inspired energy to the space while still allowing conversation.

Service:
Service was casual table service. The restaurant seemed very busy and possibly a bit understaffed, but the staff remained friendly, helpful with the menu, and attentive throughout the evening. The entrance area can get slightly congested since the host stand intersects with service traffic coming from downstairs where the restrooms are located.

Food:

⭐ Standout: Sautéed Callaloo with Plantain Chips
Bold, slightly acidic, and perfectly spiced. The aroma alone hinted it would be a winner, and it absolutely delivered.

Curry Crab Gyoza
The vadouvan curry sauce was rich and flavorful with a generous crab filling. A couple dumplings seemed slightly overcooked as they broke apart when lifted, but the French-inspired curry with Caribbean undertones still stood out.

Appetizer portions were appropriate for the price and great for sharing.

Drinks:
We tried the “U Remind Me” and “Good Vibez” cocktails. Even without egg white, they were well-balanced and nicely crafted.

Final Thoughts:
By around 8 PM many entrées had sold out, so we weren’t able to try the mains—but that speaks to the restaurant’s popularity. Overall, great atmosphere, strong cocktails, and flavorful appetizers. I’ll definitely be returning for the full culinary experience.

Response from the owner

Thank you for the thoughtful review—we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad you enjoyed the atmosphere, cocktails, and standout dishes. We appreciate your feedback on service and availability, and we’re actively working to improve both. We look forward to welcoming you back soon for the full Kokomo experience.

I came for a workshop with the Bloom Collective floral company. I'd been here before and know that the food was good. But this time I tried a lot of the things I hadnt before. Oxtail flat bread, Pasta flatbread, Wings, Mac and cheese balls, Bao buns (fish and bacon/egg). Everything was so good. And the workshop was great. The owners are very sweet and personable. The ambiance was perfect. Beautiful restaurant. The servers were polite. Great experience.

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for the amazing review, B Pierre! We’re glad you enjoyed both the workshop and trying more of the menu—especially the flatbreads and bao buns. We truly appreciate your kind words about our team and atmosphere, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Kokomo NYC again soon.

I had the pleasure to have dinner here for my birthday on 1/24. The food was delicious. My only concern was that the crab fried rice was a bit over seasoned, and they didn't have a couple of things that was on the very already short menu so we were limited. I'd assume it was because of the incoming storm. Also it was two of us and because they didn't have what my partner wanted to eat he decided to get flatbread jerk chicken and pasta but that came out as soon as we put the order in, so we were waiting for my food and during that time the flatbread got cold. My overall experience was good despite the little hiccups, I would definitely return one day hopefully I get a better experience.

Response from the owner

Thank you, Jerma, for choosing Kokomo NYC to celebrate your birthday and for the thoughtful 5-star review. We appreciate your feedback and understand how those timing and menu issues could affect the experience, especially during challenging weather conditions. We’re glad you still enjoyed the food overall and would love the opportunity to welcome you back for an even smoother and more memorable visit.

The vibe the service everything was perfect upon entry. Came here as a party of 10 for my friends bday dinner this was my first time here and I had this place bookmarked for a while years to be exact lol…. Now on to food since we were a large party we had a prefixed menu option which made the most sense and was worth it in my opinion! We had the infused wings, crab gyoza, and the shrimp for appetizers; the salad with the shrimp was everybody’s fave I wasn’t a fan of the wings and the gyoza was overpowered by the curry that you didn’t taste crab however they were still decent. For entrees we had oxtails, salmon and the, vegetarian pasta everyone enjoyed their food I liked the tamarind sauce that came with the salmon it elevated the coconut rice for me. I do feel like the food could’ve been slightly better but it wasn’t bad! The French75’s were made to perfection as well! I want to come back in the warmer months to enjoy the rooftop.

Response from the owner

Thank you, Lamaura, for the thoughtful review and for choosing Kokomo NYC for such a special celebration. We’re glad you enjoyed the service, atmosphere, cocktails, and many of the dishes, and we truly appreciate the detailed feedback/Pics on the menu—it helps us continue to improve. We’d love to welcome you back in the warmer months so you can enjoy the rooftop and see what’s new.

ASHIF was more than amazing! He was very attentive and checked in on me multiple times. He offered recommendations and provided excellent service throughout the night. Part of a great meal is the dining experience paired with it, and Ashif definitely delivered. My 4th time here and he made my experience extra memorable.

Real Caribbean Vibes in Williamsburg — A Must Try!

The ambience here was absolutely amazing — cozy, inviting, and full of island charm. The reggae music played at just the right volume, setting the perfect Caribbean mood without overpowering conversation.

Our server, Asaif, was exceptional. He knew the menu inside out and gave the best recommendations. We all decided to go with the special — fried snapper, which was meant to be shareable for two. But we were greedy and hungry, so of course, we ordered one each. Let me tell you… it was the Mega Snapper of snappers! 🤣 As I write this review, I’m still full — skipping breakfast and probably lunch too! Every bite was absolutely worth it.

The food was cooked to perfection, and the sides were equally delicious — seasoned with all the authentic Caribbean spices and herbs (I definitely tasted that thyme!).

And the cocktails? Try them all! 🍹 I’m a simple girl, but a cold Guinness was perfect for the occasion.

Thank you for having us — we had a blast and can’t wait to be back! 🌴

Response from the owner

Thank you, Delfia! We’re so happy you enjoyed the full Caribbean experience with us — from Asaif’s service to the snapper and cocktails. Your energy captures exactly what we strive for at Kokomo. We can’t wait to welcome you back for another island-inspired evening soon! 🌴✨

I initially found out about this restaurant because I follow the beautiful owner. Finally got an opportunity to take my husband there for his birthday. The decor and ambiance is VERY beautiful. Swinging chairs, jungle theme, etc. They have a decent menu for every palate. I just found it strange that I couldn’t get veggies as a side. Overall the menu seems to be a fusion of Asian and Jamaican flavors and they’re not afraid to use spice. One item that shocked me was a $90 snapper! I saw one person order it and it was HUGE. Anyhow. The night was going great until the waiter ruined things. Sort of ignored us in favor of larger parties. The bus boy who was new, according the waiter, didn’t speak good English and therefore took our glasses and drinks off the table before we were done and didn’t ask. When we complained, he then made fun of said busboy loudly to the other employees. I thought that was so mean spirited. They automatically added the tip so I asked for change of course. They told me I had to wait to get change because they ran out. Didn’t like that but overall, I would return but just have a different waiter!

Response from the owner

Thank you, Chyna, for celebrating your husband’s birthday with us and for the thoughtful feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the ambiance and flavors, and we truly appreciate your honesty about the service experience — we’re addressing this to ensure every visit feels just as special as it should. We’d love to welcome you both back soon for an even better experience!

The atmosphere was amazing and comfortable. I celebrated my birthday here with my partner, and we weren’t disappointed. Some tables were candlelit, and a few even had swing seats, which was such a fun touch.

While the food is on the pricier side, the portions are generous and the quality is outstanding. I highly recommend the oxtail, it was incredibly tender, and the gravy was unforgettable.

Response from the owner

Thank you, Marcel! We’re thrilled you chose to celebrate your birthday with us and loved the food, service, and atmosphere. The oxtail is definitely a guest favorite! We look forward to welcoming you back for another amazing experience soon. Great Pictures!!!
