Service was great, staff was very friendly. I was a little disappointed with the ceviche mixto because it was just too sour and salty. For our main entrees we ordered the lamb and the Lomo salteado which were both delicious . I wish they offered a kids menu or more food options for them.
For dessert , we had the passion fruit cheesecake that barely tasted like cheesecake. All in all, will come back to try more dishes

Response from the owner

Thank you for dining with us. We’re so glad you enjoyed the service, the lamb, and the Lomo Saltado.

We would also like to thank you for your comments about the ceviche mixto. Peruvian ceviche is meant to be bold and citrusy, though this one may have been a bit too strong. Feedback like yours helps us maintain consistency across all of the ceviches we serve. We will pass your comments along to our kitchen team.

As for the passion fruit cheesecake, Peruvian-style cheesecakes are lighter and more like a cream cheese mousse rather than a traditional baked cheesecake, giving them a softer texture and flavor.

Thank you again, and we hope to see you back soon to try more dishes from our menu!

I was honestly so surprised by how good the food was at Jora. We ordered the ceviche mixto as an appetizer to share and the seafood was very fresh and cooked perfectly. The ceviche sauce was so good that we were even drinking it with a spoon long after all the seafood was gone - the only thing I wish it had was maybe plantain ships or something equivalent for the purpose of the sauce. For entrees my friend ordered the salmon and I order the arroz con mariscos (peruvian-styled seafood paella). The salmon came in a creamy sauce with eggplant and mushrooms and while the salmon was delicious, neither of us were crazy about the sauce it was in or the eggplant. The seafood paella on the other hand was absolutely delicious! Again, the seafood was very fresh, clean, and perfectly cooked. Overall, the portions were literally perfect - not big and not small, just right - and the value of our dinner was appropriate.

Response from the owner

Thank you, Zay, we’re happy to hear you were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the ceviche mixto. We appreciate your support and look forward to welcoming you back.

I came to Jora to celebrate my 30th birthday and it was incredible. They have a great variety of cocktails as well as mocktails/ non alcoholic options which I always love and appreciate! The food was truly insane. For appetizers we got the tasting of empanadas, pastel de choclo, ceviche carretilla, and the causa croquettes. Each of them were packed with flavor in every bite. So delicious. I had the salmon dish as my main meal and it truly blew my mind! I recommend it to everyone because it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had!! Afterwards, we finished up with their mango and panna cotta dessert that were both light and amazing. The service was very nice as well and they were very accommodating with changing my reservation and the table we were seated at. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their incredible menu. :)

Response from the owner

Thank you, Regina, for celebrating such a special occasion with us. We’re thrilled you enjoyed the cocktails, variety of dishes, and desserts. It means a lot to hear everything from the empanadas to the salmon dish stood out. We look forward to welcoming you back.

We didn’t make a reservation , and the waiting list wasn’t as bad . We order some pisco sours until they get us a table which took about 15 to 20 minutes . The hostess was very nice and friendly. Then we order 2 entrees. Pastel de cholo and mix of causas , both delicious. Out of this world . Seriously one of the best we have try before . The pisco sours just like in Peru not too strong not to weak . Just perfect I literally order like 3. Coco, chicha , and Maracuya. For main dish lomo saltado . Super delicious , el aji de gallina also amazing. Dft so far my favorite Peruvian food in New York . Highly recommended:)

Hidden gem in LIC where the food is amazing, staff is accommodating and the ambiance makes you feel like you’re on vacation! This spot is located on the corner of 47th street so you can miss it. One of the best things about this restaurant is directly across the street. There is free parking for about four cars. The rest is regular street parking. But coming here for lunch. It was easy to park for free in one of those spots. I asked for recommendations from the waitress and what she recommended did not fail. My guest and I left here fully satisfied, and will be returning for dinner to see what the nighttime vibes are all about. I’m interested in trying one of the dishes. The bartender stated that he makes with Budweiser beer!?! Can’t wait to go bake. Go here!!!

Response from the owner

Thank you, TJ, for such a detailed and thoughtful review. We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance, and that our team’s recommendations helped make your lunch memorable. It’s great to know the parking and accessibility made your visit even more convenient.

Food was absolutely delicious! We had the mixto ceviche, octopus, chicken dish and paella dish. Everything was awesome, the chicken fell off the bone and was so tender. The ceviche was so flavorful, the octopus was tender and so good. The cocktails were great. Will definitely return!

Response from the owner

Thank you so much! We’re glad you loved the ceviche, octopus, chicken, and paella — hope to see you again soon!

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Jora. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make the evening memorable.

Miguel was exceptional; he was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Their care, professionalism, and kindness truly stood out, making us feel exceptionally well taken care of.

The food was nothing short of amazing. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. It was one of those meals where every bite feels memorable. The Lomo Saltado was a standout, but honestly, all the dishes were incredible.

What made the night truly unforgettable was how the team helped us celebrate my mother’s birthday. Love this spot. Service is outstanding & food is amazing. Got the salmon with aji amarillo curry, it was cooked to perfection, skin was crispy, and the eggplants and mushroom along with the dash of chili oil made the dish even better.
The maduros were good too.

Response from the owner

That dish is a favorite—great choice! Thanks for the kind words, and we look forward to your next visit.

Food: pretty good but small portions (in particular the meat) especially for the price
Service: was also pretty good but kept trying to take our plates away when we were taking our time eating and rushed us out even though the restaurant was only ~50% occupation. This really felt weird and kind of passive aggressive too.
Atmosphere: very cute restaurant

Overall: would not go back due to the aforementioned comments on small food portions and weird service treatment.

Response from the owner

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad you enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but we’re truly sorry that the portion sizes felt disappointing for the price and that our service made you feel rushed, this is not the experience we want our guests to have, especially when the restaurant is not busy. We’ve shared your feedback with our team to address both pacing of service and guest comfort, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Restaurant bar, I went with family to get a drink and small bites. The bar is a separate from the restaurant which is a nice touch. Decor was simple and highlighted Peru's 🇵🇪 culture Nazca lines, the llama neon sign, and precolumbian artifacts and picture frames. As we arrived it was happy hour we enjoyed some drinks from that menu frozen piscos with different flavors l, Sapporo beer and gin atonic andino. We had yuca frita(came with flakes of cheese on top and sauce) sea food plates(came with pickle red onion and a sauce with youcca) and rib were garnished with scallion accompanied with a side of gherkin pickle. Music was playing on the background and it was not over bearing. Overall I enjoyed our outing and plan to return to enjoy restaurant. The server was attentive and brought us more sauce for our yuca.I noticed they did have parking spots that belong to the restaurant. Although I parked on the street.

Response from the owner

Thank you, Jazmin! We're happy you enjoyed the drinks, small bites, and vibe. We appreciate you dropping by with your family!

Jora offers excellent Peruvian dishes. Ceviche carretilla has a prefect blend of flavor and texture with fresh ingredients; tangy and savory, tender and crunchy. Grilled octopus was smoky, not chewy, served over a bed of creamy yukon mille fueille. Salmon was exactly how I like it; crunchy skin with juicy and tender meat, melts in my mouth. Aji amarillo curry was a great addition to the flavor profile with a touch of creaminess. Aji de gallina is a beautiful dish with shredded chicken, I like the addition of quail eggs.
The restaurant is spacious, offers both indoor and outdoor seating options. The bar area is quite nice. We were seated immediately without a reservation on a Saturday afternoon. Service is good, although server forgot to deliver my drink even though the restaurant was not crowded at the time.
I would recommend this restaurant for the food itself. It's a great place to try if you are looking for Peruvian dishes.

Response from the owner

Thanks so much, Linh! We're glad you enjoyed our ceviche and found the flavors spot-on. Hope to see you again soon!

One word Delicious. The very best grilled octopus I have tried. The yuca sticks also very good and unexpectedly truffled which was nice. The lomo saltado may be better off with extra meat though. Dessert also incredible

Response from the owner

Thank you, Karim! We're glad you enjoyed the octopus, yuca sticks, and dessert. Hope to welcome you back for another delicious meal soon!
