Joe’s Pizza was okay, just not really my kind of pizza. It’s one of those places I wanted to like, but I’m not sure I’d go back unless someone else really wanted to.
This was our first time, and I should’ve looked into it more—it’s definitely not the best spot for a family of six. The place was packed, and it was tough to move around. We got lucky finding seats for a few of us, but it was super tight. People waiting in line were basically right behind us while we were trying to eat.

Most of us got pepperoni slices, and I also tried a mozzarella slice. I wasn’t a fan of the mozzarella, even though I usually love it. The pepperoni was better, but the crust is really thin—almost like cardboard. Not that it tastes like cardboard, just the texture.

If I came back with family, I’d probably just order a whole pizza to go and eat somewhere else.

It’s a popular spot, so I’d still say give it a try. That said, we found better pizza places later in the trip.

Definitely a tourist trap!!

We ordered a slice of pepperoni and one of two cheeses. The pepperoni one had a lot of fat, and the other was a little better. Both had very poor-quality cheese because it felt like plastic when you were eating it.

There are a lot of people, and there is not much space to sit and eat. It is not recommended at all.
Amazing pizza! It was very crowded but moved fast and we got our pizza quickly. We just went simple with a cheese pizza and it was perfect! Plenty of delicious options to pick from. Very limited seating but we got lucky and found a few seats were we could sit and eat.
Great classic NY pizza! A short walk from the 911 Museum. Not ideal for dining in, but perfect for grabbing a slice on the go. The place was extremely busy, but the staff moved the line quickly. You can sit inside, although it's a little crowded. There are also tables just outside where you can sit and eat, but it's a very busy spot if that bothers you! The pizza is great! I'd definitely go back when visiting the area!
If you’re chasing that classic New York slice experience, Joe’s Pizza absolutely delivers.

Walking into Joe’s Pizza feels like stepping into a piece of NYC history—no frills, no gimmicks, just pizza done right. The vibe is fast-paced and unapologetically old-school, with the smell of fresh dough and bubbling cheese hitting you the second you walk in.

The slice? Exactly what you want. Thin, foldable crust with just the right crisp on the bottom and a slight chew inside. The sauce is bright and tangy without overpowering, and the cheese is perfectly melted—gooey, but not greasy. It’s the kind of slice you fold in half, take a bite, and instantly understand why New York pizza has the reputation it does.

What really stands out is the balance. Nothing is overdone. It’s not trying to be gourmet or trendy—it’s just consistently great pizza. If you want that authentic New York slice, this is about as real as it gets. 🍕
Stopped by Joe’s Pizza for a classic cheese slice and dined in—definitely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere was great, with that iconic, old-school vibe that makes the experience feel authentic.

The pizza itself was exactly what you want from a New York slice: super thin, perfectly crispy crust, and simple but delicious. Every bite was light, crunchy, and full of flavor.

If you’re looking for a true, no-frills pizza spot that delivers on quality, Joe’s is a must-visit. Highly recommend!
I was in the area and decided to walk there for a slice since it had good reviews, so I thought it had to be good. I got one slice and maybe I just got a bad one compared to other people, I don’t know, but it had almost no cheese and was just crunchy. Where’s the cheese? I expected that classic cheese pull, but it wasn’t there. It honestly felt pizza from those 99c pizza stores and definitely wasn’t worth it. I even overheard someone say the pizza by their house is better, and honestly I have to agree.

Saskia, sounds like you did have the experience that we expect, and have thrived on for 50 years. Let me know if you'd like to try again.
Pizza was good but it's too small and too busy. We didn't have to wait to long because someone left when we got there and we got a table. But I don't think I would wait if I had to. Pizza $5/slice. Pretty maddening for a tiny slice.
Cool pizza shop. Great pizza. Relatively quick service for a place that's so crowded. Mega busy place. Hard to catch them in the off hours. Worth the wait. Best in the area hands down. Last time we ordered a pie and was delicious. I'll be back for sure. Very hard to get seating but they have tables outside. The atmosphere is very busy and noisy but fun. Don't plan to sit and read alone.
Pizza tasted good… $4.50 for a plain slice is guess ok lol, customer service could be a bit better but I get it you guys are busy. Would I come back here again? Maybe.
Joe’s pizza is definitely worth the hype… Even though the place was super crowded, the service was surprisingly fast. I barely had to wait before getting my slice. The pizza itself was delicious, with a perfect balance of crispy crust, flavorful sauce, and gooey cheese. Simple, classic New York style done right. Great spot for a quick and satisfying bite in the city.
Wooaah, woaaah! Joe’s Pizza is literally the best NYC pizza ever! Love the place and the flavor. If you come to NYC, you won’t regret coming here to eat!
It was fine, but nothing extraordinary. Based on the TikToks and Reels on Instagram, you'd think New York pizzerias like Joe's and Little Italy and so on are God's gift to earth. But if you've ever ate a Pizza in Naples or in Rome you find out quick that these look good but don't taste at all like the ones in Italy.

My problem isn't just that they don't taste like the ones in Italy, because I get it, it's something else. But they're just not that good. I find them rather bland. Texture and color is good but taste wise they could be much better for the price
Great NY pizza place - somewhat iconic. I walked past it a dozen times and it was constantly packed with a line out the door with the exception of one time which was great so plan on waiting if you go. The pizza is very good, the staff is okay not particularly friendly, but it’s New York and it’s pizza slices. Just walk up and know what you want and order quickly. the at atmosphere is fun but crowded and not much seating so expect to take your pizza outside where the have a few standing tables.
Pizza by the slice or a whole pie. Was a very popular spot! This was our first stop once arriving on NY and we loved it!! Felt very New York and not touristy!

I got a slice of pepperoni and my fiance got a slice of pepperoni and supreme!
