A trip to New York is not without a visit to Jack’s Wife Freda. Been coming to their Lafayette location since 2014 to its original storefront a few doors down. Was worried coming back, but was not disappointed. Spacious for NYC restaurants, great service and excellent street people watching for their outside seating.

Please come here! Always on my NYC guide every time I visit 🤍 I always get their halloumi and you cannot go wrong with their entire all day breakfast menu!

Response from the owner

Hi Grace - Thank you for your continued support and for always making Jack's Wife Freda a part of your NYC visits. We love to hear you enjoyed everything and look forward to seeing you again soon! - Jack loves you.

This spot is an absolute must when visiting NYC. Despite the line, also with a reservation, it’s more than worth the wait.

The food is impressive, especially the chicken sandwich. Due to the place being very popular, it is however very crowded inside and therefore difficult to have a good conversation with your friends.

Definitely make a visit when you’re in town.

Response from the owner

Hi Thomas - Thanks for stopping by. We appreciate your kind words about our food. Come back soon. - Jack loves you.

I came here on a Saturday 11 am peak time on mother's day weekend and it was amazing! We were seated immediately and our server was so nice! The atmosphere was also great I could talk it wasn't loud or crowded inside and our food came quickly! I got the jacks breakfast and it was immaculate the skirt steak was cooked amazingly so tender and the eggs were scrambled so we'll! We also paired with the duck bacon witch had a rich and smokey flavor but not dry it kept the juicyness of the fat! All around we had an amazing mother's day brunch here and I would definitely recommend!!

Response from the owner

Hi Plum - Thank you for celebrating Mother's Day with us! We're delighted you enjoyed our brunch, especially the skirt steak and duck bacon. Your recommendation means a lot, and we can't wait to welcome you back soon. - Jack loves you.

This restaurant has been on my list for a long time and it lives up to its reputation. Attentive service, delicious food and excellent drinks. As a solo diner I was made to feel right at home. Got here for Saturday brunch and was seated immediately. Overall very good vibes. I had Madame Frieda, the classic croque madame upscaled with duck prosciutto. My table neighbor said she was jealous when it was set in front of me, even though her green shakshuka looked great too. So happy I chose this place today.

Response from the owner

Hi Sue - We're delighted to hear you enjoyed our Saturday brunch. We appreciate your kind words about our food and service. We can't wait to welcome you back again soon. - Jack loves you.

We had brunch at Jack’s Wife Freda and I ordered the eggs Benedict with salmon, which was very good. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice. The portions are quite small, but the quality is very good. A nice and varied brunch menu overall.

JWF was a good brunch spot. I went on a mid-week so I didn’t catch any of the weekend rush/wait( Personally for me a mid-week brunch is so much better than a Sunday brunch). I tried their Fried Zucchini , Green Shakshuka and Grilled Eggplant Baguette sandwich. Fried Zucchini went perfectly with the green (me and my friends fav) and red mayo dip. I was a bit disappointed by the green shakshuka , but the grilled eggplant baguette was excellent!! I was feeling a bit experimental and went with that sandwich but boy oh boy ! Am I glad that I got it. I have never enjoyed eggplant in a sandwich like that before. The cheese, tomato and eggplant complimented each other so well. It’s definitely a must try if you like eggplant !
The staff were patient and polite. Would come back to try their other items :)

Response from the owner

Hi Divya - Thank you for joining us for brunch, even during the week. We're glad you enjoyed the eggplant baguette and hope to see you again to try more of our menu. - Jack loves you.

Jack’s Wife Freda delivers a fantastic dining experience with delicious food and warm, attentive service. The dishes are fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, reflecting the restaurant’s unique Mediterranean-inspired menu. The lively atmosphere adds to the charm, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal with consistently great hospitality.

I ordered the green shakshuka, peri-peri chicken, and the rosewater waffle, and each dish was incredibly flavorful and satisfying. The green shakshuka was fresh and perfectly seasoned, while the peri peri chicken had a great balance of spice and tenderness. The rosewater waffle added a unique, lightly floral sweetness that rounded out the meal beautifully.

Response from the owner

I had the most fabulous afternoon sitting outside at their Lafayette Street location. If you want top-tier SoHo people-watching, secure an outdoor table here immediately!
The aesthetic is incredibly chic, vibrant, and perfect for catching up or just enjoying the city energy. I sipped on a flawlessly made Negroni and a refreshing mint lemonade, which paired beautifully with their crisp fries and the gorgeous, massive feta salad. I also tried the spaghetti and meatballs—it was decent, but the drinks, the fresh appetizers, and the immaculate vibes are what truly steal the show.

Response from the owner

Hi Bhavika - Thank you for joining us and sharing your experience. We appreciate your feedback on our food and hope you'll join us again in the future. - Jack loves you.

Went to Jack’s Wife Freda today and I honestly wanted to love it… but the food just wasn’t it. Customer service was actually great — our waiter was super sweet so this is strictly about the food.
The green shakshouka was genuinely awful, like I couldn’t even finish it. The tuna salad was very mid, nothing special at all.
The cauliflower was actually good, I’ll give them that.
But the potatoes were the only thing that was actually enjoyable enough to keep eating.

Overall, vibes and service were there, food was not. Wouldn’t go back for the food alone.

Response from the owner

Hi Khaya - We're truly sorry to hear about the food falling flat. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and would like to gather more details. Please reach out to us at info@jackswifefreda.com. - Jack loves you.

Absolutely loved Jack’s Wife Freda! The food was delicious, and the matcha was by far one of the best I’ve had. I went alone, and the experience was still so welcoming thanks to the amazing staff. Everyone had such positive, happy energy, but one staff member in particular who spoke Italian was especially kind and made me feel really comfortable. It instantly lifted my mood. Such a warm, feel-good place with great food and even better service.

Response from the owner

Bright, cozy spot with a great vibe. Food was fresh and really well done, drinks were solid, and the whole place just feels fun and welcoming. Easy place to enjoy a relaxed brunch or lunch in Soho. Would definitely go back. Just a bit loud and cramped.

Response from the owner

A good restaurant to meet up with friends and family. The food is amazing and has a good selection of vegan, vegetarian and meat options. I highly recommend the vegetable curry bowl and the grilled eggplant baguette, some of the best curry bowl and sandwiches I've had. The ambience is very nice, it was filled to the brim with people so I recommend reserving a table if possible. The haloumi was garlicy and very tasty and combined with the grapes it made a great appetizer. Definitely recommend the place.

Response from the owner

The atmosphere was amazing and the waitstaff were absolutely lovely. Usually I wouldn't give such an expensive place 5 stars but the quality of their food made up for everything. Not huge portions, but enough to keep you full and delivers on taste. Also many options which makes it hard to choose but also good for gluten free people.

Response from the owner

Hi Alex - Thank you for your kind words! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the atmosphere and found value in our dining experience. We hope to welcome you back soon. - Jack loves you.

My girlfriend and I visited Jack’s Wife Freda in SoHo for a late breakfast after reserving a 10:45am table, and it was the perfect brunch experience. We sat in the outdoor dining area. Seating was a bit cozy, but the atmosphere was lively and welcoming.

She ordered the Mediterranean Breakfast paired with a refreshing matcha, and I went with the Jack’s Breakfast, cooked perfectly medium rare. To fully take in the Jack’s Wife Freda experience, we shared their famous waffles, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. Light, crisp, and delicious.

The service was phenomenal from start to finish. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy a flavorful, charming brunch in SoHo. We’ll definitely be back!

Response from the owner

Good spot for brunch! The staff is kind and tries to be attentive, but the place gets very busy, so it’s hard to get consistent attention — we were helped by three different servers during our visit. It’s also quite loud, which makes it a bit hard to relax.

The food was tasty — the mains were delicious and the coffees were on point. I personally didn’t love the rose waffles (just not my flavor preference), but overall, everything was well-prepared and nicely presented.

I’d like to visit another location to see if the experience feels a bit calmer, but I understand SoHo is always a busy area.

Response from the owner

Hi Maria - Thank you for joining us for brunch. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and hope to see you again soon. - Jack loves you.
