Food was delicious. My wife and I loved the flavor of the Korean Ribs, was wild to taste Korean fried chicken on a rib lol.😋Personally the brisket for me was ok, nothing extra ordinary. We do wish the portions were little more especially considering the price. (It’s seems the online menu prices are not updated to the in person menu prices)

Love the vibes. Feels like a fisherman restaursnt, especially with it being close the the actually dock.

My friends and I went for dinner and the vibes and service of the place was spot-on. Everyone was friendly and lively, the place was bustling with life. They did get our order wrong but made up for it with free food and drinks.

The food on the other hand was mediocre at best, our brisket was tough and the chicken was virtually all skin and bone. The one standout dish was the Mac and cheese side! Would definitely get that.

Among the top smoke houses in New York. Really like the sausage, I dare say it was better than brisket. Coming in late, the meats been there for pretty long so I suggest coming early. The cauliflower reminds of Korean grid chicken, moist while crispy.

In the way that bagels are their best in NYC, perhaps, BBQ just isn’t any good this far north of the Mason-Dixon Line, because if this is the best BBQ in the city, we’re all better off sticking to boiled bread.

Brisket was tender, but the dry rub was too salty and lent itself to an inconsistent flavor profile. Even smoke, tho.

Ribs weren’t tender enough, and while the sauce was inventive, the rib-meat itself was too chewy and effortful to disentangle from the bone.

Cornbread was dry. Slaw was soggy. Collard greens didn’t have any depth to their flavor.

Additionally, if hometown is looking to be more comprehensive they need to deeper their sauce selection: an Alabama white sauce for the sausage. Pepper sauce for the collards. And a vinegar sauce for the pulled pork.

Queso was great! And the chips are sturdy and supportive.

Overall competitive Yankee BBQ, relatively speaking, but I was disappointed to have waited in line so long for a BBQ that’s a far, far, far cry from even the most mediocre BBQ in the south. Save yourself the time and go get yourself a NYC bagel — some regional specialties just can’t translate across regions.

10/10 experience. Food, drinks and service, seriously all outstanding. I like the laid-back atmosphere and the fact that they have good quality napkins. Meat was beautifully cooked and so flavorful. The sides? Perfection. As a southwestern girl I could dream of nothing better. And they were playing steely dan 💯

This was easily one of the best steaks I’ve tried. I’ve had similar preparations in many places, but this one truly stood out.
From the moment I walked in, the aroma of smoke and perfectly cooked meat immediately caught my attention and set the tone for the experience.

The atmosphere is very pleasant and comfortable, making the whole visit even more enjoyable.
I left very satisfied and will definitely be coming back again.🥩❤️

The brisket and ribs are melt-in-your-mouth and fall-off-the-bone and juicy. Perfect American BBQ. The pastrami bacon is worth it and full of char flavor. We loved the cornbread and the mac and cheese. Atmosphere is very southern. A bit pricey but definitely the best BBQ you can find anywhere in and near the city.

WHAT DO THEY DO TO THIS NACHO CHEESE DIP TO MAKE IT SO PERFECT?! It’s perfect. I’d never order this of my own will but my friend ordered it and what a great decision that was.
The cornbread is great.
All the meat is great.

A 1/2 lb of meat per person is definitely enough, especially if you get 1-2 sides.

This isn’t the cheapest spot. 2 sides and 2 1/2 lbs of meat was $75 (fed 2 people and was a lot of food).

I LOVE that they have Stiegl! And they have special really great mugs for the radlers.

Lots of seating. There was a long line on a Saturday at 7pm and it moved slow.

Hometown Bar-B-Que is worth the trip out to Red Hook. We ordered the brisket tacos, pulled pork, cornbread, and slaw, and everything was delicious—but the brisket tacos were the standout. Both BBQ sauces were incredible and really elevated the meal. We split everything between two people and the portions were perfect.

The atmosphere was super cozy and chill for a Saturday lunch. We grabbed a couple cans of Shiner Bock from the bar and hung out, and it felt like a great spot for groups and even kid-friendly during the daytime. It was freezing when we visited, but I think they have outdoor seating in warmer weather.

Coming from the UK it is incredibly difficult to find a quality, top end BBQ place. Hometown Bar-B-Que is phenomenal!

My wife and I made this a key stop on our trip to NYC and I can fully recommend it to any BBQ enthusiasts or anyone who loves BBQ food!

Absolute hands down best BBQ joint in NY and perhaps best I’ve ever had. All the hype about Hometown is on point. Super casual and super friendly staff. You have the choice of both indoor and outdoor seating.

Every item on their menu is to die but the ultimate is the pastrami sandwich. YES you heard me right! This sandwich is even better than Katz’s. More bark, more tender, juicier and let’s not forget the buttered rye bread.

Bottom line, there is not a single item on their menu that is not worth devouring.

Oh wow ! If you’re looking for American meet style you should go there ! Food was super good !!! Fatty but amazing !
Only issue is you need to wait and be ready for that because it could be long … But worth it to be honest

Best bbq I’ve had up north. Might take a while, as this is a counter serve restaurant with a very slow moving line.

We thoroughly enjoyed both a brisket sandwich and the pulled pork. The pulled pork was absolute perfection. There are two sauce choices (we preferred the sticky). I also loved our little cup of mustardy Cole slaw and a side of crusty, buttery cornbread.

Great experience.

Arrive early! We went right when they opened and had to wait 15-20 mins behind about 10 people in line. A lot of hype here for being the best in the city. I cant confirm or deny yet because I have yet to visit other BBQ joints in NYC. Definitely good vibes and nice atmosphere. But the BBQ doesn't compare to Texas, like not even close. For Brooklyn (or perhaps anywhere outside of Texas that isn't part of the South? Perhaps?) it's decent BBQ. The brisket and pulled pork were actually really good and my favorite. Ribs and rib tips weren't the best. Mac n cheese and corn bread sides were okay. I don't think I'd go out of my way to visit again unless I was making another IKEA run.
