Such a cute spot for a chill brunch ✨ The salmon sourdough was delicious and super filling. Reasonable price, relaxing atmosphere, and really nice staff. Definitely coming back again.

Response from the owner

Outdoor seating great for a sunny day in NY. Yogurt/granola was delicious, fresh and good quality. Great texture too. Breakfast burrito was yummy.

Response from the owner

Thanks for the love, Judi! We're so happy you enjoyed the yogurt/granola and breakfast burrito on our outdoor patio. Sunny days in NY hit different, and we're glad you spent yours with us. Come back soon!

The food was great, but unfortunately the service really took away from the experience. I ordered the avocado toast and the Nutella coffee both were genuinely delicious and a great start to the morning.

We were actually the first ones in the restaurant and ready for breakfast, but the atmosphere quickly became uncomfortable. The music was incredibly loud, especially since we were seated right under the speakers. I politely asked the waitress if it could be turned down, but she seemed visibly annoyed, and the volume wasn’t changed at all. We ended up having to move ourselves just to be able to sit comfortably.

Throughout the rest of the visit, the service felt cold and standoffish. There was no check-in from the waitress, and overall it felt like we were an inconvenience rather than guests. On top of that, the menu being entirely on your phone kind of takes away from the purpose of having attentive service in the first place.

It’s a shame because the food itself was enjoyable, but the service ultimately left a negative impression and made the experience feel disappointing overall.

Response from the owner

Hey Sumi! We're so glad you enjoyed the avocado toast and Nutella coffee – those are some of our favorites too! We're bummed to hear the service didn't match up with the food. Your feedback about the music volume and overall experience is really valuable to us. We're always working on making sure every guest feels welcomed and comfortable. We'd love another chance to give you the full experience – hope to see you back soon!

For reasonably priced brunch this is the spot. Has do fusion elements on the menu that make this a bit more unique than your typical brunch spots which I feel can be quite repetitive, so refreshing to see.

Staff was friendly bathrooms were clean. Reservation recommended as weekends can be quite packed for ideal seating you want either indoor or outdoor as such.

Response from the owner

Benjamin, we're so glad you appreciated our unique take on brunch! It's great to know the fusion elements stood out and that our team made you feel welcome. Thanks for the tip about reservations – hope to see you again soon! Cheers!

This spot offers a really solid brunch with a comprehensive menu that truly has something for everyone—from classic avocado toast and salmon toast to heavier options like pastas and burgers.
I went with the Avocado Toast with a poached egg, and it didn’t disappoint. The flavors were great, and the portion was generous, which isn’t always the case with brunch spots! The main downside for me was the venue itself. I feel like there’s a lot of room for improvement regarding maintenance and aesthetics. There were several "rough around the edges" details, like chipped paint on the doors and a general lack of polish in the decor. The bathroom was a bit of a trek to get to and, unfortunately, wasn't exactly spotless.
The service and the kitchen are good, the space needs a bit of a refresh.

Response from the owner

Hi MV,

Thanks for taking the time to give us this feedback. We're disappointed we didn't meet your expectations this time around. We've taken your comments on board and hope to welcome you back.

Best,
The Hole In The Wall - Flatiron District team

Really nice place and atmosphere, friendly staff. enjoyed the food even though the dish I ordered (Dulce de Leche waffles) was a little bit too sweet for my taste; the cappuccino was really good.
We didn’t book a table in advance so we had to sit in one of the few unreserved ones right after the entrance: as it’s winter, every time someone entered the door, cold air came in…not very pleasant. But if you book in advance I believe you would have a great experience.

Response from the owner

Thanks for the great review, Maddalena! We're so happy you enjoyed the atmosphere and our friendly staff. Sorry about the chilly spot by the entrance - we totally get how that could put a damper on things during winter. We'd love to have you back for another cappuccino.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. I made a mistake by sitting at the counter because there’s no leg room and it was freezing outside. So, when the door opened, a huge rush of cold air swept in.

Beyond that, I’m sure if I was sitting at a table, I would’ve had a better experience.

I had a breakfast sandwich with fries which was pretty ok. The bread was a bit dry for my taste but the sandwich overall was flavorful.

I’d go back but I’d definitely reserve a table ahead of time and probably go for the breakfast burrito instead.

Response from the owner

Thanks for the honest feedback, Sally! We're glad you enjoyed our friendly staff and found the sandwich flavorful. We totally get the counter seating situation - those spots can definitely get chilly when the door opens! A table reservation is always a great call, and we think you'd love our breakfast burrito. Can't wait to welcome you back for round two!

My wife and I enjoyed a very positive experience here recently. Food was pleasant (kimchi scramble, burger + fries, broccolini, smoothies, espresso martini, lemongrass tea) and all staff we interacted with--particularly Jake, the manager--were warm and professional. Would definitely return and recommend!

Response from the owner

Came to Hole in the Wall Flatiron without a reservation and ended up waiting about 20–30 minutes for a table. I’d definitely recommend booking ahead. The outdoor seating wasn’t very comfortable since it was pretty cold (the had a heater in one corner, but doesn’t do anything), the indoor may be better.

The food was just okay for the price. The sourdough toast was extremely hard to cut and not very fresh, which made the dishes hard to enjoy.
Considering the overall experience, I will not be coming back.

Response from the owner

Hey Jihan! We're sorry things didn't go as planned during your visit. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback about the wait time, seating, and food quality - it really helps us improve. We'd love the chance to make your next experience a good one! Hope to see you back soon.

Hole in the Wall in Flatiron was a bit underwhelming for me. The waffles were way too sugary and overly sweet, which made them hard to enjoy. The burrito was just okay — nothing special — and the sourdough bread with salmon fell flat and didn’t have the flavor or freshness I expected. Overall, the food didn’t match the price point, and I didn’t feel like I got the value for what I paid.
The staff was friendly and efficient though

The place has potential, but based on my experience, the dishes could use more balance and better execution.

Response from the owner

Hey Tanvi! We're sad to hear your meal didn't hit the spot during your visit. We really appreciate your honest feedback about the dishes and are glad our team treated you well. Your input helps us grow, and we'd love the chance to make your next experience a perfect one. Hope to see you back soon!

Stayed a few blocks over during my trip to NYC. I ordered a nutty espresso smoothie and a Caesar salad. The smoothie was underwhelming and pulled a score of 4/10. The Caesar salad was gross. The greens were unappetizing, the dressing not the greatest and very weak presentation. They were our choice because of their proximity to our hotel room and the cute name they held. It was definitely a hole in the wall and lived up to its name. It was just as expensive as the fancier places with worse food. I would avoid this place.

Response from the owner

Deanna, we're sad to hear your meal didn't hit the spot! We appreciate you giving us a try during your NYC trip. We'd love the chance to turn things around - please reach out to us at info@holeinthewallnyc.com so we can make your next visit a perfect one!

I love the energy here. The turmeric latte and pulled pork Benedict were delicious and both of my servers were so friendly and kind. Will come back next time I’m visiting!

We had a great experience here, the waiter made a little mistake with the order and replace with the correct beers with much simplicity.

The food was good and I really like my bowls

The place can be noisy but we had a great time thanks to the staff welcome

Very enjoyable dining experience here. The OG burger was cooked, medium rare to perfection, the salad was flavorful and fresh. The Apperal spritz tasting flight was delightful, even with a substitution I made, and the waiter kindly agreed to.
The waiter had a charming Australian accent and was both capable, and fun at the same time. Looking forward to returning here the next time I’m Near Madison Square, Park.

Response from the owner

Ben, it’s wonderful knowing you had a stellar visit! Your words mean so much to our crew. Hope to see you back soon!

5 stars - Incredible food, thoughtful service, and stylish vibe. Perfect for dinner with friends or a chill date night.

Service:
The customer service at Hole In The Wall was exceptional. Our server, Anthony, was incredibly sweet and made the experience feel personal and fun. He gave us honest recommendations -- what he liked, what he didn't -- and explained why, which helped us order confidently. We had a dinner reservation but were about 30 minutes late (getting ready took longer than expected), and the staff was so kind and flexible. They just told us to come when we could -- that kind of grace is rare and appreciated.

Food:
Everything we tried was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. I ordered the Hanger Steak ($32), and it was cooked beautifully -- flavorful, not greasy, and surprisingly light. I left feeling satisfied but not overly full or bloated.

My friends ordered:
* The OG Burger ($21) with sweet potato fries - I tried a bite and it was seriously flavorful. One of the better burgers I've tasted in a while.
* Spicy Shrimp Rigatoni Pasta ($22) - This one tasted like heaven. The shrimp was perfectly crispy, the pasta cooked just right, and the creamy sauce tied it all together.

I also asked if they could make matcha, even though it was only listed on the brunch menu -- and they did! That extra bit of flexibility and accommodation really impressed me.

Ambience & Dress Code:
The restaurant is stylish and cute without being overly formal. It's definitely a place where you'd want to dress "casual cute." Denim or elevated basics work well -- I'd personally avoid sweats or anything too ripped. It's a great spot for dinner with friends, but it's also date- and family-friendly.

Final Thoughts:
This is a true 5-star spot for me. Between the excellent food, flexible staff, and cozy-chic atmosphere, I'd 100% return. Whether you're visiting NYC or just want a memorable dinner out, Hole in the Wall- Flatiron is a solid choice.

Response from the owner

Hewan, we're stoked you had such an amazing experience! Your kind words about the food, service, and ambiance are deeply appreciated. Looking forward to many more great nights with you!
