At must do on my list everytime I am in the city. Great service and amazing food. Make sure you get empanadas with the chimicurri sauce delish. Any entree on the menu is a winner and the hand squeezed lemonade 😋😋😋

I had dinner here on a Friday night before a Broadway show and the place was packed. I had reservations and got seated fast.
Fun vibes with live band playing salsa.

I ordered Rice with Shrimp and plantains
, Empanadas sampler and Pork. The entrees came with black beans and the portions were generous. The empanadas were delicious and I chose shrimp, beef and ropa vieja.

Happy Hour is from 4-7pm and you can order the HH drinks from the table but if you want to order HH food, you have to be at the bar.

Overall it was a great experience and I’d definitely go back. This is perfect for a bite and some drinks before your Broadway show.

Follow me on Instagram @nj_4_fun

Very typical Cuban atmosphere with live music and an overall fun vibe. The portions were a very good size, of good quality, and at a fair price. Service was also great.

A really cool spot for some Cuban food in Manhattan. The restaurant had some cool Cuban vibes. The pictures and art work were a nice vibe. We started out with the assortment of three empanadas (beef, chicken and cheese) my personal favorite was the chicken. For my entree I only wanted a small plate, so I ordered the masitas de cerdo which were served with tostones. It was a perfect side (appetizer size) with a side order of avocado. My girlfriend had the white rice with black beans. Both dishes were good. As we were leaving, a small band was setting up to play. The service and decor were really nice. The waiter was quick to take care of all or dining needs. I recommend you do reservations in order to get a table.

Response from the owner

Thank you for such a thoughtful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the atmosphere, artwork, and live music setup — creating that vibrant Cuban experience is something we take a lot of pride in. The empanada trio is always a favorite, and we love hearing the chicken empanada stood out for you. We truly appreciate the recommendation and your kind words about the service, and we hope to welcome you both back again soon!

Went here before a show and it was such a cool atmosphere. The bar staff were all friendly and the drinks were amazing a little strong if you ask me but that’s always a plus. Service was fast.

Response from the owner

Love this, thank you for sharing! The pre-show energy here really is unmatched, and it’s great to hear the team kept things moving while still delivering on those drinks. A little extra pour never hurts ;) Hope to have you back again soon!

There’s a certain kind of New York afternoon that calls for Havana before you even realize it—especially when it’s timed just right. A block away from The Lost Boys, Havana Central becomes the perfect pre-show ritual: lively, warm, and effortlessly indulgent.

The experience begins above you. A glowing marquee “HAVANA” sign casts a nostalgic, golden light over the room, setting a tone that feels equal parts theater and escape. It’s the kind of place where lunch doesn’t feel rushed—it feels like part of the outing.

The menu reads like a love letter to Cuban comfort, polished for a Manhattan crowd. Start with the empanadas—golden, crisp, and unapologetically satisfying. The shell gives way with a delicate crunch, revealing a rich, savory filling that pairs perfectly with a bright, herb-forward dipping sauce.

Then comes the surprise standout: the salad. Generous chunks of avocado, briny green olives, black beans, and bursts of tomato create something far more compelling than a side dish. It’s bold, textured, and fresh—the kind of plate that resets your palate while still holding its own.
The entrée leans into comfort with confidence: mango salmon resting over yellow rice, finished with a bright, slightly tangy fruit salsa. The fish is tender and buttery, the sweetness of mango balanced by citrus and herbs. Corn adds a soft sweetness, while pickled onions bring a necessary snap—it’s vibrant, layered, and quietly the star of the table.

And the drink? A mojito—icy, refreshing, and alive with mint and lime. It’s clean, crisp, and exactly what you want before heading into a show, the kind of cocktail that resets the palate and disappears faster than expected.

But what truly defines the experience is the service. Daniela moves through the dining room with a calm, intuitive rhythm—attentive without interruption, warm without pretense. She reads the table effortlessly, guiding the meal so it flows as smoothly as the afternoon itself.

The Verdict:
Havana Central isn’t just a meal—it’s the perfect prelude. One block from The Lost Boys, it delivers Cuban classics with energy, polish, and just the right sense of occasion. With Daniela at the helm, lunch becomes part of the performance.

Response from the owner

Thank you for such a beautifully written review—we truly appreciate you taking the time to share this. You captured the spirit of Havana Central so perfectly, from the pre-show energy to the flavors and atmosphere that make it all come together.

We’re so glad you enjoyed everything from the empanadas to the mango salmon (and that mojito sounds like it hit just right). Daniela will be especially touched by your kind words—she has a way of making every table feel effortless and memorable!

It means a lot to be part of your New York afternoon, especially before a show. We hope to welcome you back again soon for another unforgettable experience!

This place was everything I didn’t even know I wanted. The best Sangria I’ve ever had, my steak was cooked to absolute perfection, the empanadas were drool worthy and our server, Edward surpassed any and all expectations. The “birthday song and Fedora” was the cherry on top of a perfect meal!

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for this amazing review! We’re thrilled to hear that everything exceeded your expectations — from the sangria to the steak and empanadas. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to Edward, he’ll love hearing this. And we’re so glad you enjoyed the birthday celebration too — the fedora moment never disappoints. Hope to celebrate with you again soon!

Reserved for our anniversary about 3 weeks before and were seated immediately despite being 10 minutes late. This was a Sunday evening and it was packed! Lucky enough to have a live band playing, they were extremely energetic and impeccable. The servers were also super attentive, food and drinks were amazing and we even got free champagne to toast after the meal. The pricing was also not bad at all since they honored the “Buena Vista Social Club” same day ticket discount, which was 15% off our bill. We’ll definitely be back for the amazing mojitos and music!

Response from the owner

Tish, thank you for celebrating your anniversary with us! We’re so glad everything—from the seating and service to the live music, food, and drinks—made for a special night. Great to hear you enjoyed the Buena Vista Social Club discount as well. We look forward to having you back for more mojitos and music soon!

Great place for a Broadway matinee offering a pre-theatre menu for a good price. Fun atmosphere with nice and accommodating service. It's not fine dining but instead a unique and light experience for Cuban food. Large space can allow for any party size. I've been here with mom and sisters as well as a date night with my husband. Easy vibe for any night or day out in the city. Close to times square and conveniently located.

Response from the owner

Thank you so much for visiting us again! We are thrilled that you enjoy yourself with us time and time again, we can't wait to host you again!

Went here for restaurant week, menu items were good and they had happy hour until 7pm. Atmosphere is really nice and lively, but really loud, it was hard to have a conversation. Definitely recommend to make a reservation as this place does get crowded.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the restaurant week menu, happy hour, and lively atmosphere. We appreciate your note about the noise and the tip to make a reservation—both are helpful for future guests. We hope to welcome you back soon!

Visited Friday night for happy hour. Our wait to get a table was 50 minutes. Instead we went to the bar and were lucky that guest left and we had availability for 2 seats. Our server Israel made our transition smoothly and quick. We order various appetizers and drinks. Beer Pacifico and Blue moon
.Drinks passion fruit mojito with fresh sugar cane and mint. The band was there tuning their sound for a while but once they got it together they played a set of various song not limited to Cuban music. Overall it was good atmosphere and food. I liked the green sauce instead of f the mayo sauce drizzle all over out appetizers. I've been to the LI Havana central which i visited various times and they also ha e live bands and delicious food.

Response from the owner

Thank you for spending your Friday night with us and for sharing such detailed feedback! We appreciate your patience during the wait and are glad the bar worked out and that Israel helped make the transition smooth. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the drinks, appetizers, and overall atmosphere, and that the live band added to the experience once they got going. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Delicious food, friendly staff, and great prices! Plenty of options for me that were gluten free, dairy free, and soy free. A bit loud for my taste but it was a great experience. Thrilled by the guava smoothie. The staff that greeted us were warm. Luiza, our server, was nice and attentive. The people that came to our table with waters, our orders, and to pick up dishes were so friendly too. And did I mention the delicious food?! Thanks to entire team - from the front end to the kitchen and everyone in between. Definitely recommend! 👏

Response from the owner
