I took my Mom there to have lunch. We were shopping all day so we were hungry. It was empty it was like 3:30ish. We were seated and forgotten. No water no anything. After like 15mns. I had to call the waitress over who passed by us & ignored us like 3x to take our order. She had an attitude b.c we interrupted her from filling the refrigerator with drinks. Food was sub par. Not a good variety of sides. We got tiny bowls of onions, broccoli, dry kimchi one bowl of rice. She said you only get one. It was not all you can eat like we paid for. Was not appetizing at all. We have gone to other Korean BBQ's but this was not what we expected. They never came to check on us. The guys who cooked the food were nice. But the female waitress did not want to be there at all. Maybe she had an off day but it showed in her service. Will not go there again.

Weirdest experience I’ve had in a while. We were a party of 7 with 2 other people coming and when I ordered the tallish Asian waiter said it was too much food. It was not in fact tooo much food they had to order more food for my other 2 guests. Also I really wish I wouldn’t have listened because some of us were still hungry. He also discouraged us from ordered pitchers of beer and sangria because it was “too much” again it was not too much. What a weird experience. We would have spent more money meaning a bigger tip if he’d just let us order what we wanted.

The food was good a little bland. Accompaniments were too small and not refilled. Wish they gave more sauces. Wish they weren’t policing what we could and couldn’t get. We got 2 sanghang combos tongue and seafood pancake. 1 sake 1 pitcher sangria. We could have a few more dishes and beer. Such a weird experience to be told no with such a big party.

Service felt rushed.
Loved my experience at Gunbae in New York! The restaurant was very vegetarian-friendly and super accommodating with modifications, which I really appreciated.

I ordered the bibimbap, tteokbokki kimchi jjigae and dumplings, everything was packed with flavor and tasted amazing. The tteokbokki had the perfect balance of spice and sweetness and the cheese was not overpowering at all.

The only downside is that it’s on the pricier side, but the quality and taste definitely deliver.

Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for great Korean food with solid vegetarian options!
5/5, Ordered the Han-Sang (Combo) for 169.99. Of the 4, the Yang-Nyum Kalbi was especially good! Chose pork dumplings and beef tofu soup which I recommend as well!

Special thanks to Ely for handling our unique situation!
Im allergic to peanuts and this place made me feel very comfortable. In fact i contacted them about a month before i went and threw a bunch of questions at them about their kitchen, ingredients, what products they use etc... They answered every single one.

Me and half a dozen friends went their on a Saturday night and had a great time. I tried foods I've never tried before and wasn't disappointed by a single one. I'm kicking myself for not trying some of these things sooner but i have a feeling that GunBae may now have set my expectations too high. Service was very quick and attentive, the atmosphere was fantastic, unique plates and bowls, and very clean.

We didn't do karaoke but the rates aren't bad at all.

Again i cant thank them enough for responding to my emails bugging them about my nut allergy but i felt very comfortable in the end. My friends and i paid about 100 dollars each and I walked away very very full. very worth it and I'm hoping to go here again soon.
High end table top Korean bbq spot with private karaoke rooms in the back. The wait staff will cut and cook the steaks for you. Everything shared and a lot of premium items can boost the bill up fast without a plan. Went to the private karaoke rooms after and had a blast, more buckets of beer and passable renditions of pop songs to end the night.
We came in on a slow Sunday afternoon about 3pm. We randomly decided that it was a karaoke kind of day. The place was empty but Eric set up the downstairs bar for us and gave us stellar service throughout our 3 hour rampage through random songs sets. The bar snacks were great- we had some kimchi pancakes, wings and pork dumplings.
The atmosphere is cool and they have private rooms. Eric told us that there is going to be happy hour specials soon for the newly completed karaoke bar downstairs. We can’t wait to try them and also the upstairs Korean barbecue.

The food and atmosphere were great but I can’t emphasize enough how welcome Eric made us feel- even though we were alone downstairs (Sunday at 3pm is not prime karaoke time).
What a find in this area of NYC as it’s not necessarily known for Korean food. Excellent value, great service and good quality food overall.
The meat was grilled to perfection and the side dishes hit the spot. Highly recommended and definitely worth the time to make it to this area if you want great Korean BBQ.
Love going here when I want excellent Korean food, but I don’t want to go to Korea Town. Highly recommend!
Came here with a group of 15 out of town guests. Ellie took our reservation and was so easy to work with. Our servers were friendly and attentive; Joseph took the time to explain the menu and how it all worked. The meat was super tasty and great quality. Definitely a must go, especially if you’re a big group looking for great Korean BBQ, this is the place to be. Thank you for a fun experience!
We made a reservation for 14 and were seated right away. Great spot for large groups. We ordered 3 combos for our table with beer, sangria and wine. What an amazing spread. The soups, bonchon and meats were amazing. We were in town visiting our kids from college and had a blast. Service was friendly, attentive and quick. Plus Joseph cooked all the food for us and did an awesome job. Thank you! We loved it and can’t wait to come back.
High quality food for a reasonable price. Service was excellent and we left very very very full. 6/5 would come back.
Simplistic and delicious. I crave Korean food and was pleased to come across Gunbae on the lower west side. We ordered japchae with veggies and tofu bibimbap, along with banchan - it was an absolute perfect lunch! Service was friendly, attentive and food came out quick. We came on a Wednesday at noon when they opened without a reservation & we were seated right away.
Traditional Korean fare in downtown NYC. Comes with free condiments to give you a good starter before the main course comes about. Soup abit blend and the taste of the food have definitely deviated from the traditional Korean fare.

Atmosphere is great for a get together for sure.
We visited this well-maintained restaurant for dinner on a Thursday night. It was quite busy, with most tables displaying reserved signs. Despite the crowd, the layout was thoughtfully spaced, so it didn’t feel overcrowded. I appreciated the bench design with built-in storage—it was convenient for stowing our belongings. The BBQ was flavorful, especially the spiced pork belly, though the portion sizes were on the smaller side. A staff member handled the grilling for us and cooked the meat perfectly. We especially enjoyed the side dishes, and the waitstaff were happy to provide refills when we asked. Overall, it was a great experience—we just wish the portions were a bit more generous.
