Solid food, delicious thin crust Brooklyn pizza. Can’t go wrong with it!

The cheesecake I would say is the star of the show. I recommend checking that delicacy out.

We ordered the large pizza, half The Don and half Prosciutto. The Don was delicious and juicy, but we found the Prosciutto a little too dry. The service was excellent.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your review, Jim! We're glad you enjoyed The Don and the service, and appreciate your feedback on the Prosciutto. We hope to serve you again soon!

This place definitely knows what they're doing when it comes to pizza! The crust is thin, with a crunchy outside and perfectly chewy inside. Lots of toppings, a tasty sauce, and delicious cheese that gives a notable cheese-pull.

Everything seemed to be made fresh and was served quickly. An added bonus is that their water is ice cold and refreshing, especially for a hot day!

Response from the owner

Thank you for your kind review, Alyssa! We're happy to hear you enjoyed the pizza and appreciated the refreshing ice-cold water. We look forward to serving you again soon!

We went on a Tuesday evening and got in about 5:15p with no wait on the third floor. Great vibe up there. We started with the bruschetta trio and it was pretty good. Definitely not the best bruschetta I’ve ever had but still pretty solid. We then had the margherita pizza and it was really good. Nice coal-fired taste. Definitely a 5⭐️ overall experience due to the historic vibes and the good food. Service was solid too and pretty fast.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your kind review, Esteban! We're happy to hear you enjoyed the margherita pizza and the historic vibes. We look forward to serving you again soon!

We got there around 11:30am on a Sunday and there was no line! The line at Julianna's Pizza next door was starting to form. We were seated promptly and ordered the margherita pizza and Brooklyn bridge pizza. The dining room has high ceilings and is much more comfortable than Juliana. The margherita pizza was crispy at the bottom, nice sauce to dough ratio. Personally we thought it was much better than the Julianna's margherita pizza we had 2 weeks ago that came out a little soggy. Brooklyn Bridge pizza has interesting flavors, though we would still rank the margherita higher. Oh, this location does take credit card/mobile payment now. No longer a cash-only spot! All in all, given the comfort and quality of food, we would definitely recommend Grimaldi over Julianna's.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your kind review, Ming! We're happy to hear you enjoyed the Margherita and Brooklyn Bridge pizzas, and found our dining room comfortable. We look forward to serving you again soon!

The whole thing starts before you're even seated. You walk off the Brooklyn Bridge, legs a little tired, and the coal smoke smell from the oven finds you before you've had a chance to look at the menu. There's something almost unfair about that. We got there around noon on a Saturday and the wait was manageable, maybe fifteen minutes, which felt like a gift. The space is comfortable and a bit bustling, the kind of place where people are clearly in a good mood because they know what's coming.
We went back and forth between pies and ended up with a half margherita, half pepperoni, sixteen inches of it, and that was absolutely the right call for two people. The crust is the thing that catches you off guard. It has this char on the bottom, firm but not cracker-dry, and the way the fresh mozzarella sits on the margherita side is just clean and honest. No excess oil, no weird sweetness in the sauce. The pepperoni half had just the right crisp on the edges of each slice and the coal oven adds this faint smokiness that you can't really replicate any other way. We were done before we meant to be, the kind of eaten-fast that only happens when the food is genuinely good.
We grabbed a Brooklyn Lager each at the table, which was the right beer for the moment, and honestly just sat there for a minute before deciding on dessert. The New York Style Cheesecake is one of those things where you think you might not need it after pizza and then you're very glad you ordered it. Dense, creamy, slightly tangy, not over-sweetened. The cannoli was a last minute add and held its own, crispy shell and a clean ricotta fill, though if you have to choose, go for the cheesecake. Leave room. You will not regret it.
This is one of those places that delivers on the reputation without making you feel like you're at a tourist trap. The service is warm and efficient, the food is excellent, and the whole Brooklyn Bridge walk into this lunch is just one of those New York experiences that genuinely earns it.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your kind review, Eloise! We're happy to hear you enjoyed the entire experience, from the coal oven aroma to the margherita and pepperoni pizza, and even the New York Style Cheesecake. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge is where the New York pizza argument starts and ends for me. Coal-fired oven thin crust that has that perfect char and chew fresh mozzarella that stretches and pulls exactly right and a tomato sauce that is bright and balanced without overpowering the cheese. This is not fancy pizza. This is not artisan pizza with truffle oil and microgreens. This is New York pizza done the way it was meant to be done and it is perfect. The line out the door is legendary and yes you will wait but the wait is part of the experience. Standing on the cobblestones of DUMBO looking up at the Brooklyn Bridge while you wait for one of the best pies in the city that is a New York moment. Cash only no slices whole pies only. You commit to the experience and the experience rewards you. The dining room is simple and packed and the energy is fantastic families tourists locals who have been coming here for decades all sitting elbow to elbow enjoying the same thing. I have eaten pizza in Naples Rome Chicago and everywhere in between. Grimaldi's holds its own against all of them. The simplicity is the genius. Great dough great sauce great cheese great oven. Do four things perfectly and you do not need a fifth. That is Grimaldi's and that is New York.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your kind review, Kevin! We're happy to hear you appreciate the simplicity and authenticity of our New York pizza experience. We look forward to serving you again soon!

We needed to recharge after a three hours walking tour in Brooklyn. As we entered, the inviting warmth of the restaurant. You can't beat the location or the flavor at Grimaldi's Pizzeria under the Brooklyn Bridge. We ordered the 18" split, with additional cost, featuring the signature BROOKLYN BRIDGE (ricotta, sausage, peppers--perfection!) and the beautifully simple MARGHERITA. The split was recommended by the server as we couldn't decide one toppings. The staff was wonderful! It was outstanding! Truly one of the best food experiences we had visiting New York!

Response from the owner

Thank you for your kind review, Maling! We're happy to hear you enjoyed the Brooklyn Bridge and Margherita pizza, as well as our great staff. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Came here after waiting outside to enter another well known pizza joint nearby. At first I was a little concerned that Grimaldis would be a tourist trap at the expense of the food quality but I needn’t have worried. My 16 inch margarita pizza with mushrooms (kept it simple) came out steaming, with a crispy base and fresh tomato source. Can’t say like other reviewers whether it was the best pizza I’ve ever tasted, but it really was delicious. Servers were courteous and atmosphere nice.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your kind review, Danny! We're happy to hear you enjoyed your Margherita pizza with mushrooms and appreciated the service and atmosphere. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Recently, I had the chance to visit this well-known pizzeria under Brooklyn Bridge. I had the best pizza of my life! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, definitely a great spot.
However, the service was disappointing. I had to ask for the bill twice and ended up waiting 30 minutes, so in the end, I went to the bar to pay myself. Everything was just too slow.
That said, I still recommend this place and will definitely come back but plan your time accordingly!

Response from the owner

Thank you for your feedback, Kris! We're glad you enjoyed the pizza and atmosphere, but we apologize for the slow service. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to serving you again soon!

This place uses Coal brick oven which makes a huge difference. Ended up getting the Margherita Pizza. The dough and crisp was something else. Awesome location too. Can’t go wrong with pizza and the amazing views at Pier 1. Definitely come give this place a try.

Response from the owner

Thank you for your kind review, Karim! We're glad you enjoyed the Margherita Pizza and our coal brick oven's unique touch. We hope to see you again soon for more great pizza and views!

What disappointing experience. This NYC pizza icon has really gone on the decline. To sum it up the place was dingy and dirty, the pizza was well done on top and doughy and under cooked on the bottom, the sauce had very little flavor. They used to drizzle a little olive oil on the pie before bringing it out, I guess they don't do that any more and the soda was flat. The only bright spot was the service, the waitress was very nice and attentive but even the good service is not enough to go back to this place. Double thumbs down for this place 👎👎🍕🍕

Response from the owner

We're sorry to hear about your disappointing experience with the pizza and atmosphere. Thank you for your feedback; we'll work on addressing these issues to improve our quality and environment.

Grimaldi’s Pizzeria in Brooklyn remains a go-to spot for classic New York-style pizza in a vibrant and historic setting under the Brooklyn Bridge. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a bustling, old-school pizzeria charm that adds to the overall experience. There’s usually a line outside, but don’t let that discourage you—it moves surprisingly fast and is worth the short wait.
The food is definitely the highlight. We ordered a half-and-half pizza—pineapple on one side, pepperoni on the other—and it was delicious as always. The crust is perfectly crisp, the sauce tangy, and the toppings fresh and flavorful. We also ordered a Caprese salad, which, interestingly, arrived after the pizza. While the timing was a bit off, the salad was fresh and tasty. To drink, we had sangria, which was fruity and well-balanced—not too sweet, and a great complement to the meal. The sodas come with free refills, which is a nice touch, especially if you're dining in.
Where Grimaldi’s falls short is the service. It’s not terrible, but it could definitely be improved. Staff seemed rushed and not particularly attentive, and the timing of the dishes could have been better coordinated. That said, the quality of the food makes up for the service issues, especially considering the affordable prices.
Overall, Grimaldi’s is a solid choice for pizza lovers looking for a classic Brooklyn experience. While the service could use some polish, the great food, reasonable prices, and iconic atmosphere make it worth a visit.

Response from the owner

Touristy or not, their pizza is just that good! Well worth the wait. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait and were seated in less than 10 minutes. Great service, phenomenal pizza with the way it should be: delicious sauce, cheese and high quality toppings, perfect crust… also incredible cheesecake and cannoli… I don’t think you could go wrong with anything here!

Response from the owner

Thank you for your wonderful review! We're happy to hear you enjoyed our pizza, desserts, and quick service. We look forward to welcoming you back!
